1 Petro 1
1 Mimi Petro, mtume wa Yesu Kristo nawaandikia ninyi wateule wa Mungu Baba, ambao mmetawanyika na mnaishi kama wakimbizi huko Ponto, Galatia, Kapadokia, Asia na Bithunia.
PETER, a legate of Jesus the Messiah, to the elect and sojourners, who are dispersed in Pontus and in Galatia, and in Cappadocia, and in Asia, and in Bithynia,
2 Mungu Baba aliwateua ninyi kufuatana na kusudi lake, na mmefanywa watakatifu na Roho, mpate kumtii Yesu Kristo na kusafishwa kwa damu yake. Nawatakieni neema na amani tele.
to them who have been chosen, by the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto the obedience and the sprinkling of the blood of Jesus the Messiah: May grace and peace abound towards you.
3 Asifiwe Mungu na Baba wa Bwana wetu Yesu Kristo! Kwa huruma yake kuu alitufanya tuzaliwe upya kwa kumfufua Yesu kutoka wafu. Ametujalia tumaini lenye uzima,
Blessed be God, the Father of our Lord Jesus the Messiah, who in his great mercy hath begotten us anew, by the resurrection of our Lord Jesus the Messiah, to the hope of life,
4 na hivyo tunatazamia kupata baraka zile ambazo Mungu aliwawekea watu wake. Mungu amewawekeeni baraka hizo mbinguni ambako haziwezi kuoza au kuharibika au kufifia.
and to an inheritance incorruptible, undefiled, and unfading, which is prepared for you in heaven;
5 Hizo zitakuwa zenu ninyi ambao kwa imani mnalindwa salama kwa nguvu ya Mungu kwa ajili ya wokovu ambao uko tayari kufunuliwa mwishoni mwa nyakati.
while ye are kept, by the power of God and by faith, for the life that is prepared and will be revealed in the last times;
6 Furahini kuhusu jambo hilo, ijapokuwa sasa, kwa kitambo kidogo, itawabidi kuhuzunika kwa sababu ya majaribio mbalimbali mnayoteseka.
wherein ye will rejoice for ever, notwithstanding ye at the present time are pressed a little, by the various trials that pass over you;
7 Shabaha yake ni kuthibitisha imani yenu. Hata dhahabu yenyewe ambayo huharibika, hujaribiwa kwa moto; hali kadhalika na imani yenu ambayo ni ya thamani zaidi kuliko dhahabu, ni lazima ijaribiwe ipate kuwa thabiti. Hapo mtapokea sifa na utukufu na heshima Siku ile Yesu Kristo atakapofunuliwa.
so that the proof of your faith may appear more precious than refined gold that is tested by fire, unto glory and honor and praise, at the manifestation of Jesus the Messiah:
8 Ninyi mnampenda ingawaje hamjamwona, na mnamwamini ingawa hamumwoni sasa. Hivyo, mnafurahi kwa furaha tukufu isiyoelezeka,
whom having not seen, ye love; and in the faith of whom ye rejoice, with joy that is glorious and ineffable,
9 kwa sababu mnapokea wokovu wa roho zenu ambao ni lengo la imani yenu.
that ye may receive the recompense of your faith, the life of your souls;
10 Manabii walipeleleza kwa makini na kufanya uchunguzi juu ya wokovu huo, wakabashiri juu ya neema hiyo ambayo ninyi mngepewa.
that life namely, about which the prophets inquired, when they were prophesying of the grace which was to be given to you.
11 Walijaribu kujua nyakati na mazingira ya tukio hilo, yaani wakati alioudokezea Roho wa Kristo aliyekuwa ndani yao, akibashiri juu ya mateso yatakayompata Kristo na utukufu utakaofuata.
And they searched for the time which the Spirit of the Messiah dwelling in them did show and testify, when the sufferings of the Messiah were to occur, and his subsequent glory.
12 Mungu aliwafunulia kwamba wakati walipokuwa wanasema juu ya hayo mambo ambayo ninyi mmekwisha sikia sasa kutoka kwa wale wajumbe waliowatangazieni Habari Njema kwa nguvu ya Roho Mtakatifu aliyetumwa kutoka mbinguni, hiyo kazi yao haikuwa kwa faida yao wenyewe, bali kwa ajili yenu. Hayo ndiyo mambo ambayo hata malaika wangependa kuyafahamu.
And it was revealed to them, in regard to all they were searching, that, not for themselves were they inquiring, but for us they were prophesying of those things, which are now manifested to you by means of the things we have announced to you, by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven; which things the angels also desire to look into.
13 Kwa hiyo, basi, muwe tayari kabisa kwa nia, na kukesha. Wekeni tumaini lenu lote katika baraka ile mtakayopewa wakati Yesu Kristo atakapoonekana!
Wherefore, gird up the loins of your minds. and be awake perfectly, and wait for the joy, which will come to you at the revelation of our Lord Jesus the Messiah,
14 Kama watoto wa Mungu wenye utii, msikubali kamwe kufuata tena tamaa mbaya mlizokuwa nazo wakati mlipokuwa wajinga.
as obedient children: and be ye not conversant again with those former lusts, with which ye lusted when without knowledge.
15 Bali mnapaswa kuwa watakatifu katika mwenendo wenu wote, kama vile yule aliyewaiteni ni mtakatifu.
But be ye holy in all your conduct, as he is holy who hath called you.
16 Maandiko yasema: “Muwe watakatifu, kwa kuwa mimi ni mtakatifu.”
Because it is written: Be ye holy, even as I am holy.
17 Mnapomtaja Mungu ninyi humwita Baba. Basi, jueni kwamba yeye humhukumu kila mmoja kadiri ya matendo yake, bila ubaguzi. Hivyo tumieni wakati wenu uliowabakia hapa ugenini katika kumcha Mungu.
And if so be ye call on the Father, with whom is no respect of persons, and who judgeth every one according to his deeds, pass the time of your sojournment with fear;
18 Maana mnajua kwamba ninyi mlikombolewa katika mwenendo wenu usiofaa ambao mliupokea kutoka kwa wazee wenu, si kwa vitu vyenye kuharibika: kwa fedha na dhahabu;
since ye know, that neither with perishable silver, nor with gold, ye were redeemed from your vain doings, which ye had by tradition from your fathers;
19 bali mlikombolewa kwa damu tukufu ya Kristo, ambaye alikuwa kama mwana kondoo asiye na dosari wala doa.
but with the precious blood of that Lamb in which is no spot nor blemish, namely, the Messiah:
20 Yeye alikuwa ameteuliwa na Mungu kabla ya ulimwengu kuumbwa, akafunuliwa siku hizi za mwisho kwa ajili yenu.
who was predestined to this, before the foundation of the world; and was manifested at the termination of the times, for your sakes;
21 Kwa njia yake, ninyi mnamwamini Mungu aliyemfufua kutoka wafu na kumpa utukufu; na hivyo imani na matumaini yenu yako kwa Mungu.
who, by means of him, have believed in God, who raised him from the dead and conferred glory on him; that your faith and hope might be in God,
22 Maadamu sasa, kwa kuutii ukweli, ninyi mmezitakasa roho zenu na kuwapenda wenzenu bila unafiki, basi, pendaneni kwa moyo wote.
while your minds became sanctified, by obedience to the truth; and ye be full of love, without respect of persons, so that ye love one another out of a pure and perfect heart;
23 Maana kwa njia ya neno hai la Mungu, ninyi mmezaliwa upya, si kama watoto wa baba awezaye kufa, bali baba asiyekufa milele. (aiōn g165)
like persons born again, not of seed that perisheth, but of that which doth not perish, by the living word of God, who abideth for ever. (aiōn g165)
24 Kama Maandiko yasemavyo: “Kila binadamu ni kama nyasi, na utukufu wake wote ni kama maua ya porini. Nyasi hunyauka na maua huanguka.
Because all flesh is as grass, and all its beauty like the flower of the field. The grass drieth up, and the flower withereth away;
