Warumi 2

1 Kwa hiyo hauna udhuru, wewe uhukumuye, kwa maana katika yale uhukumuyo mwingine wajitia hatiani mwenyewe. Kwa maana wewe uhukumuye unafanya mambo yale yale.

So if you judge others you don't have any excuse, whoever you are! For in whatever way you condemn others, you're judging yourself, because you're doing the same things.

2 Lakini twajua kwamba hukumu ya Mungu ni ya kweli juu yao wafanyao mambo kama hayo.

We know that God's judgment on those who do such things is based on truth.

3 Lakini wewe tafakari hili, wewe ambaye unahukumu wale wanaotenda mambo hayo ingawa nawe unafanya mambo yayo hayo. Je utaepuka hukumu ya Mungu?

When you judge them do you really think that you however can avoid God's judgment?

4 Au unafikiri kidogo sana juu ya wingi wa wema wake, kuchelewa kwa adhabu yake, na uvumilivu wake? Je, hujui kwamba wema wake unapaswa kukuelekeza katika toba?

Or is it that you're treating his wonderful kindness, tolerance, and patience with contempt, not realizing that God in his kindness is trying to lead you to repent?

5 Bali kwa kadiri ya ugumu wako na kwa moyo wako usio na toba wajiwekea mwenyewe akiba ya ghadhabu kwa siku ile ya ghadhabu, yaani, siku ile ya ufunuo wa hukumu ya haki ya Mungu.

Due to your hard-hearted attitude and your refusal to repent, you're making things far worse for yourself on the day of retribution when God's judgment is demonstrated to be absolutely right.

6 Yeye atamlipa kila mtu kipimo sawa na matendo yake:

God will make sure everyone receives what they deserve according to what they've done.

7 kwa wale ambao kwa uthabiti wa matendo mema wametafuta sifa, heshima na kutokuharibika, atawapa uzima wa milele. (aiōnios g166)

Those who have kept on trying to do what is good and right will receive glory and honor, immortality and eternal life. (aiōnios g166)

8 Lakini kwa wale ambao ni wabinafsi, wasioitii kweli bali hutii dhuluma, ghadhabu na hasira kali itakuja.

But those who think only of themselves, rejecting the truth and deliberately choosing to do evil, will receive punishment and furious hostility.

9 Mungu ataleta dhiki na shida juu ya kila nafsi ya binadamu aliyefanya uovu, kwa Myahudi kwanza, na kwa Myunani pia.

Everyone who does evil will have trouble and suffering—the Jewish people first, and the foreigners too.

10 Lakini sifa, heshima na amani itakuja kwa kila mtu atendaye mema, kwa Myahudi kwanza, na kwa Myunani pia.

But everyone who does good will have glory, honor, and peace—the Jewish people first, and the foreigners too.

11 Kwa maana hakuna upendeleo kwa Mungu.

God has no favorites.

12 Kwa maana kama vile wengi waliokosa pasipo sheria watapotea pasipo sheria, na kama vile wengi waliokosa kulingana na sheria watahukumiwa kwa sheria.

Those who sin even though they don't have the written law are still lost, while those who sin that do have the written law will be condemned by that law.

13 Maana si wasikiaji wa sheria walio wenye haki mbele za Mungu, bali ni wale waitendao sheria watakaohesabiwa haki.

Just listening to what the law says doesn't make you right in God's sight. It's those who do what the law says who are made right.

14 Kwa maana watu wa Mataifa, ambao hawana sheria, wanafanya kwa asili mambo ya sheria, wao, wamekuwa sheria kwa nafsi zao, ingawa wao hawana sheria.

The foreigners don't have the written law, but when they instinctively do what it says, they are following the law even without having the written law.

15 Kwa hili wanaonesha kwamba matendo yanayohitajika kwa mujibu wa sheria yameandikwa ndani ya mioyo yao. Dhamiri zao pia zinawashuhudia wao, na mawazo yao wenyewe ama huwashitaki au huwalinda wao wenyewe

In this way they show how the law works that's written in their minds. As they think about what they're doing, their conscience either accuses them for doing wrong or defends them for doing what is good and right.

16 na pia kwa Mungu. Haya yatatokea katika siku ambayo Mungu atazihukumu siri za watu wote, sawasawa na injili yangu, kwa njia ya Yesu Kristo.

The good news I share is that a day is coming when God will judge, through Jesus Christ, everyone's secret thoughts.

17 Tuseme kwamba unajiita mwenyewe Myahudi, aliyekaa katika sheria, shangilia kwa kujisifu katika Mungu,

What about you who call yourself a Jew? You rely on the written law and boast about having a special relationship to God.

18 yajue mapenzi yake, na kupima mambo ambayo yanatofautiana nayo, baada ya kuagizwa na sheria.

You know what he wants; you do what's right because you've been taught from the law.

19 Na tuseme kwamba una ujasiri kwamba wewe mwenyewe ni kiongozi wa kipofu, mwanga kwa wale walio gizani,

You're absolutely sure that you can guide the blind, and that you are a light to those in the dark.

20 msahihishaji wa wajinga, mwalimu wa watoto, na kwamba unayo katika sheria jinsi ya elimu na kweli.

You think you can set ignorant people straight, a teacher of “children,” because you know from the law all the truth there is to know.

21 Wewe basi, uhubiriye mwingine, je, hujifundishi mwenyewe? Wewe uhubiriye kutokuiba, je wewe huiba?

So if you're busy teaching others, why don't you teach yourself? You tell people not to steal, but are you stealing?

22 Wewe usemae usizini, je unazini? Wewe uchukiaye sanamu, je unaiba hekaluni?

You tell people not to commit adultery, but are you committing adultery? You tell people not to worship idols, but do you profane temples?

23 Wewe ujisifuye katika sheria, je haumfedheheshi Mungu katika kuvunja sheria?

You boast about having the law, but don't you misrepresent God by breaking it?

24 Kwa maana “jina la Mungu linafedheheshwa kati ya watu wa mataifa kwa sababu yenu,” kama ilivyoandikwa.

As Scripture says, “God's character is defamed among the foreigners because of you.”

25 Kwa maana Kutahiriwa kweli kwafaa kama ukitii sheria, lakini kama wewe ni mkiukaji wa sheria, kutahiriwa kwako kunakuwa kutokutahiriwa.

Being circumcised has value only if you do what the law says. But if you break the law, your circumcision is as worthless as those who are not circumcised at all.

26 Basi, ikiwa, mtu asiyetahiriwa anaendelea kushika matakwa ya sheria, je kutokutahiriwa kwake hakutachukuliwa kana kwamba ametahiriwa?

If a man who is not circumcised keeps the law, he should be considered as being circumcised even though he's not.

27 Na yeye asiyetahiriwa kwa asili hatakuhukumu kama akitimiza sheria? Hii ni kwa sababu una maandiko yaliyoandikwa na tohara pia lakini bado u mkiukaji wa sheria!

The uncircumcised foreigners who keep the law will condemn you if you break the law, even though you have the written law and circumcision.

28 Kwa maana yeye si Myahudi aliye kwa hali ya nje; wala kutahiriwa si kule ambako ni kwa nje tu katika mwili.

It's not what's on the outside that makes you a Jew; it's not the physical sign of circumcision.

29 Lakini yeye ni Myahudi aliye kwa ndani, na tohara ni ya moyo, katika roho, si katika andiko. Sifa ya mtu wa namna hiyo haitokani na watu bali yatoka kwa Mungu.

What makes you a Jew is on the inside, a “circumcision of the heart” that doesn't follow the letter of the law but the Spirit. Someone like that is looking for praise from God, not from people.
