1 Katika wewe, Yahwe, napatakimbilio salama; usiniache niaibishwe.
A psalm for David. Of the sons of Jonadab, and the former captives. In thee, O Lord, I have hoped, let me never be put to confusion:
2 Uniokoe na kunifanya salama katika haki yako; geuzia sikio lako kwangu.
Deliver me in thy justice, and rescue me. Incline thy ear unto me, and save me.
3 Uwe kwagu mwamba kwa ajili ya kimbilio salama ambako naweza kwenda siku zote; wewe umeamuru kuniokoa, kwa kuwa wewe ni mwamba wangu na ngome yangu.
Be thou unto me a God, a protector, and a place of strength: that thou mayst make me safe. For thou art my firmament and my refuge.
4 Uniokoe mimi, Mungu wangu, kutoka katika mkono wa asiye haki na katili.
Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the sinner, and out of the hand of the transgressor of the law and of the unjust.
5 Maana wewe ni tumaini langu, Bwana Yahwe. Nimekuamini wewe siku zote tangu nilipokuwa mtoto.
For thou art my patience, O Lord: my hope, O Lord, from my youth;
6 Nimekuwa nikisaidiwa na wewe tangu tumboni; wewe ndiye yule uliyenitoa tumboni mwa mama yangu; sifa zangu zitakuhusu wewe siku zote.
By thee have I been confirmed from the womb: from my mother’s womb thou art my protector. Of thee shall I continually sing:
7 Mimi ni mfano bora kwa watu wangu; wewe ni kimbilio langu lenye nguvu.
I run become unto many as a wonder, but thou art a strong helper.
8 Mama yangu atajawa na sifa zako, siku zote akikuheshimu.
Let my mouth be filled with praise, that I may sing thy glory; thy greatness all the day long.
9 Usinitupe katika siku za miaka ya uzee wangu; usiniache wakati nguvu zangu zitakapoisha.
Cast me not off in the time of old age: when my strength shall fail, do not thou forsake me.
10 Maana adui zangu wanazungumza kuhusu mimi; wale wanao fatilia uhai wangu wanapanga njama pamoja.
For my enemies have spoken against me; and they that watched my soul have consulted together,
11 Wao husema, “Mungu amemuacha; mfuateni na mumchukue, maana hakuna yeyote awezaye kumuokoa yeye.”
Saying: God hath forsaken him: pursue and take him, for there is none to deliver him.
12 Mungu, usiwe mbali nami; Mungu wangu, harakisha kunisaidia mimi.
O God, be not thou far from me: O my God, make haste to my help.
13 Waaibishwe na kuharibiwa, wale walio adui wa uhai wangu; wavishwe laumu na kudharauliwa, wale watafutao kuniumiza.
Let them be confounded and come to nothing that detract my soul; let them be covered with confusion and shame that seek my hurt.
14 Lakini nitakutumainia wewe siku zote na nitakusifu wewe zaidi na zaidi.
But I will always hope; and will add to all thy praise.
15 Kinywa changu kitaongea kuhusu haki yako na wokovu wako mchana kutwa, ingawa ziwezi kuzielewa maana ni nyingi mno.
My mouth shall shew forth thy justice; thy salvation all the day long. Because I have not known learning,
16 Nitakuja na matendo yenye nguvu ya Bwana Yahwe; nitataja haki yako, yako pekee.
I will enter into the powers of the Lord: O Lord, I will be mindful of thy justice alone.
17 Mungu, tangu ujana wangu wewe umenifundisha; hata sasa ninatangaza matendo yako ya ajabu.
Thou hast taught me, O God, from my youth: and till now I will declare thy wonderful works.
18 Hakika, hata niwapo mzee na mvi kichwani, Mungu, usiniache mimi, kama ambavyo nimekuwa nikitanga nguvu yako kwa vizazi vijavyo, na uweza wako kwa yeyote ajaye.
And unto old age and grey hairs: O God, forsake me not, Until I shew forth thy arm to all the generation that is to come: Thy power,
19 Pia haki yako, Mungu, iko juu sana; wewe ambaye umefanya mambo makuu, Mungu, ni nani aliye kama wewe?
And thy justice, O God, even to the highest great things thou hast done: O God, who is like to thee?
20 Wewe ambaye umetuonesha sisi mateso mengi utatuhuisha tena na utatupandisha tena juu kutoka kwenye kina cha nchi.
How great troubles hast thou shewn me, many and grievous: and turning thou hast brought me to life, and hast brought me back again from the depths of the earth:
21 Uiongeze heshima yangu; rudi tena na unifariji.
Thou hast multiplied thy magnificence; and turning to me thou hast comforted me.
22 Nami pia nitakushukuru kwa kinubi kwa ajili ya uaminifu wako, Mungu wangu; kwako nitaimba sifa kwa kinubi, Mtakatifu wa Israel.
For I will also confess to thee thy truth with the instruments of psaltery: O God, I will sing to thee with the harp, thou holy one of Israel.
23 Midomo yangu itapiga kelele kwa sababu ya furaha wakati nikikuimbia sifa, hata kwa roho yangu, ambayo wewe umeikomboa.
My lips shall greatly rejoice, when I shall sing to thee; and my soul which thou hast redeemed.
24 Ulimi wangu pia utaongea kuhusu haki yangu mchana kutwa; maana wameaibishwa na kuvurugwa, wale waliotafuta kuniumiza.
Yea and my tongue shall meditate on thy justice all the day; when they shall be confounded and put to shame that seek evils to me.
