1 Yahwe ndiye aliye mkuu na mwenyekusifiwa sana, katika mji wa Mungu wetu kwenye mlima wake mtakatifu.
A Melodious Song. For the Sons of Korah. Great is Yahweh, and worthy to be mightily praised, In the city of our God, His holy mountain.
2 Ni mzuri katika mwinuko wake, furaha ya nchi yote, ni mlima Sayuni, kwenye upande wa kaskazini, mji wa Mfalme mkuu.
Beautiful in elevation, the joy of all the land, Is Mount Zion, in the recesses of the north, —The city of a great king.
3 Mungu amejifunua mwenyewe katika jumba lake la kifahari kama kimbilio la usalama.
God, in her palaces, is to be known as a high tower.
4 Maana, tazama, wafalme walikusanyika wenyewe; wote pamoja walipita.
For lo! Kings—Met as appointed, Passed by together;
5 Nao waliuona, wakashangaa; walifadhaika, na wakaharakisha kuondoka.
They themselves, saw, So, were they amazed, Dismayed—they hurried way!
6 Pale pale tetemeko liliwashikilia, maumivu makali kama mwanamke anaye zaa.
Trembling, seized them, there, Pangs. like hers who is in travail.
7 Kwa upepo wa mashariki wewe huivunja meli ya Tarshishi.
With an east wind, wilt thou shatter the ships of Tarshish.
8 Kama tulivyo sikia, vivyo hivyo tumeona katika mji wa Yahwe wa majeshi, katika mji wa Mungu wetu; Mungu atautunza milele. (Selah)
Just as we have heard, So, have we seen, In the city of Yahweh of hosts, In the city of our God, God himself, will establish her, unto times age-abiding. (Selah)
9 Tumeutafakari uaminifu wa agano lako, Mungu, katikati ya hekalu lako.
We have thought, O God, upon thy lovingkindness, In the midst of thy temple:
10 Kama lilivyo jina lako, Mungu, hivyo ndivyo zilivyo sifa zako mpaka miisho ya dunia; mkono wako wa kuume umejaa haki.
According to thy Name, O God, So, be thy praise, unto the ends of the earth, With righteousness, is, thy right hand, filled.
11 Milma Sayuni na ufurahi, nao wana wa Yuda washangilie kwa sababu ya amri ya haki yako.
Let Mount Zion rejoice, Let the daughters of Judah exult, Because of thy judgments.
12 Tembeeni katika Mlima Sayuni, muuzungukie mji,
Go round Zion, and compass her about, Reckon up her towers;
13 mzitazame kwa makini nguzo zake, na mtazame majumba yake ya kifahari ili kwamba muweze kuwasimulia kizazi kijacho.
Apply your mind to her rampart, Pass between her palaces, That ye may recount them to an after generation;
14 Kwa kuwa huyu Mungu ni Mungu wetu milele na milele; naye atakuwa kiongozi wetu mpaka kufa.
For, this God, is our God, to times age-abiding and beyond, He himself, will conduct us till death.
