1 Usikereshwe na wafanyao maovu; usiwaonee wivu wale watendao yasiyo haki.
David’s. [An Alphabetical Psalm.] Burn not with vexation because of evil-doers, Be not envious of the workers of perversity;
2 Kwa kuwa muda mfupi watakauka kama nyasi na kukauka kama vile mimea ya kijani ikaukavyo wakati wa kiangazi.
For, like grass, soon shall they wither, and, like green herbage, shall they fade.
3 Uwamini Mungu na kufanya yaliyo mema; uishi katika nchi na uongezeke katika imani.
Trust in Yahweh, and do good, Dwell in the land, and feed on fidelity;
4 Kisha ufurahi mwenyewe katika Yahwe, naye atakupa matamanio ya moyo wako.
Yea, rest thy delight on Yahweh, that he may give thee the requests of thy heart.
5 Umkabidhi njia zako Yahwe; uamini katika yeye, naye atatenda kwa niaba yako.
Roll on Yahweh thy way, Trust also in him, and, he, will effectually work:
6 Yeye ataidhihilisha haki yako kama mchana na usafi wako kama mwangaza wa mchana.
So will he bring forth, as the light, thy righteousness, and thy vindication as the noonday.
7 Uwe kumya mbele za Yahwe na umsubiri yeye kwa uvumilivu. Usikasirike ikiwa kuna mtu anafanikiwa kwa kile afanyacho, au afanyapo njama za uovu.
Be resigned to Yahweh, yea wait with longing for him; Burn not with vexation at him who prospereth in his way, —at the man who doeth wickedness.
8 Usikasilile na kugadhabika. Usiogope. Hii huleta matatizo tu.
Cease from anger, and forsake wrath, Burn not with vexation—[it would be] only to do evil;
9 Watendao maovu watafutiliwa mbali, bali wale wamngojao Yahwe watairithi nchi.
For, evil doers, shall be cut off, but, as for them who wait for Yahweh, they, shall inherit the earth.
10 Katika muda mfupi mtu mwovu atatoweka; wewe utatazama mahali pake, wala hautamuona.
Yet a little, therefore, and the lawless one shall not be, Yea thou shalt look about, over his place—and he shall have vanished!
11 Lakini wapole watairithi nchi nao watafurahia katika mafanikio makubwa.
But, the patient oppressed-ones, shall inherit the earth, and shall delight themselves over the abundance of prosperity.
12 Mtu mwovu hupanga njama kinyume na mwenye haki na kumsagia meno.
Plotting is the lawless one, against the just, and gnashing upon him with his teeth.
13 Bwana humcheka, kwa maana anaona siku yake inakuja.
My Lord, shall laugh at him, for he seeth, that his day, will come.
14 Waovu wametoa nje panga zao na wametayarisha pinde zao ili kuwaangamiza wanyonge na wahitaji, na kuwaua wenye haki.
A sword, have the lawless, drawn out, and have trodden their bow, —To bring down the oppressed and the needy, To slaughter the upright in life:
15 Panga zao zitawaua wenyewe, na pinde zao zitavunjika.
Their sword, shall enter into their own heart, and, their bow, shall be broken.
16 Ni bora kuwa mwenye haki maskini kuliko tajiri mwenye mali nyingi.
Better the little of the righteous man, than the abundance of the lawless who are mighty;
17 Kwa maana mikono ya watu waovu itavunjika, bali Yahwe huwasaidia watu wenye haki.
For, the arms of the lawless, shall be broken, But Yahweh is upholding the righteous.
18 Yahwe huwalinda watu wasio na lawama siku hadi siku, na urithi wao utakuwa wa milele.
Yahweh knoweth the days of the blameless, that, their inheritance, unto times age-abiding, shall continue.
19 Hawata aibika siku mbaya zijapo. Wakati wa njaa ufikapo wao watakuwa na chakula cha kutosha.
They shall not be ashamed in the time of calamity, and, in the days of famine, shall they be filled.
20 Bali waovu wataangamia. Maadui wa Yahwe watakuwa kama vile utukufu wa malisho; watamalizwa na kupotezwa katika moshi.
For, the lawless, shall perish, and, the foes of Yahweh, be like the glory of the meadows, They have vanished! In smoke, have they vanished!
21 Mtu mwovu hukopa lakini halipi, bali mtu mwenye haki ni mkarimu na hutoa.
A lawless man borroweth, and will not repay, But, a righteous man, showeth favour and giveth;
22 Wale walio barikiwa na Mungu watairithi nchi; wale aliowalaani watafutiliwa mbali.
For, such as are blessed of him, shall inherit the earth, But, the cursed of him, shall be cut off.
23 Hatua za mwanadamu zinaimarishwa na Yahwe, mtu ambaye njia zake zinakubalika machoni pa Mungu.
From Yahweh, are the steps of a man made firm, When, with his way, he is well pleased:
24 Ajapojikwaa, hataanguka chini, kwa kuwa Yahwe anamshikilia kwa mkono wake.
Though he fall, he shall not be hurled headlong, For, Yahweh, is holding his hand.
25 Nilikuwa kijana na sasa ni mzee; sijawahi kumuona mtu mwenye haki ametelekezwa wala watoto wake kuombaomba mkate.
Young, have I been, moreover am old, —Yet have I not seen, A righteous man forsaken, Nor his seed begging bread:
26 Wakati wote yeye ni mkarimu na hukopesha, nao watoto wake hufanyika baraka.
All day long, is he showing favour and lending, his seed, therefore, shall have a blessing.
27 Acha uovu na ufanye yaliyo mema; ndipo utakapokuwa salama milele.
Turn from evil, and do good, and so settle down, unto times age-abiding.
28 Kwa maana Yahwe hupenda haki naye hawaachi wafuasi waaminifu. Wao hutunzwa milele, lakini uzao wa waovu utafutiliwa mabli.
For, Yahweh, loveth justice, and will not forsake his men of lovingkindness, Unto times age-abiding, have the perverse been destroyed, —and the seed of the lawless, been cut off.
29 Wenye haki watairithi nchi na kuaa huko milele.
The righteous, shall inherit the earth, that they may settle down, to futurity, thereupon.
30 Mdomo wa mwenye haki huongea hekima na huongeza haki.
The mouth of a righteous man, softly uttereth wisdom, and, his tongue, speaketh justice:
31 Sheria ya Mungu wake imo moyoni mwake; miguu yake haitelezi.
The law of his God, is in his heart, his steps shall not swerve.
32 Mtu mwovu humvizia mwenye haki na kutafuta kumuua.
The lawless man, lieth in wait, for the just, and seeketh to put him to death:
33 Yahwe hatamuacha yeye kwenye mkono wa mtu mwovu wala kumlaumu atakapohukumiwa.
Yahweh, will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him, when he is judged.
34 Umngoje Yahwe na uishike njia yake, naye atakuinua uimiliki nchi. Atakapo waondosha waovu wewe utaona.
Wait for Yahweh, and observe thou his path, that he may exalt thee, to inherit the earth, On the cutting off of the lawless, shalt thou look.
35 Nimewaona waovu na mtu wa kutisha akienea kama mti wa kijani katika udongo wa asili.
I have seen a lawless man, a tyrant, and spreading himself out, like a cedar in Lebanon;
36 Lakini nilipopita tana mara nyingine, hakuwepo pale. nilimtafuta, lakini sikumpata.
Then I passed by, and lo! he had vanished! Yea I sought him, but he could not be found.
37 Uwachunguze watu waadilifu, na uwatambue wenye haki; kuna hatima nzuri kwa ajili ya mtu wa amani.
Mark the blameless man, and behold the upright, for there is a hereafter for the man of peace;
38 Mwenye dhambi wataharibiwa kabisa; hatima ya mtu mwovu ni kuondoshwa.
But, transgressors, are to be destroyed together, the hereafter of lawless men, is to be cut off.
39 Wokovu wa haki unatoka kwa Yahwe; yeye huwalinda wao nyakati za shida.
But, the deliverance of the righteous, is from Yahweh, their refuge in a time of distress.
40 Yahwe huwasaidia na kuwaokoa. Yeye huwaokoa dhidi ya watu waovu na kuwanusuru wao kwa sababu wao wamemkimbilia yeye kwa ajili ya usalama.
Thus hath Yahweh helped them, thus hath he delivered them, —He will deliver them from the lawless, and will save them, because they have sought refuge in him.
