1 Israeli ilipotoka Misri, na nyumba ya Yakobo toka kutoka katika wale watu wa kigeni,

When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a barbarous people:

2 Yuda ilifanyika kuwa mahali pake patakatifu, Ufalme wa Israeli.

Judea made his sanctuary, Israel his dominion.

3 Bahari iliona ikakimbia; Yordani ilirudi nyuma.

The sea saw and fled: Jordan was turned back.

4 Milima iliruka kama kondoo waume, vilima viliruka kama wana-kondoo.

The mountains skipped like rams, and the hills like the lambs of the flock.

5 Ewe Bahari kwa nini ulikimbia? Yordani kwa nini ulirudi nyuma?

What ailed thee, O thou sea, that thou didst flee: and thou, O Jordan, that thou wast turned back?

6 Milima, kwa nini uliruka kama kondoo waume? Enyi vilima wadogo, kwa nini mliruka kama wana-kondoo?

Ye mountains, that ye skipped like rams, and ye hills, like lambs of the flock?

7 Tetemeka, ee nchi, mbele za Bwana, uweponi mwa Mungu wa Yakobo.

At the presence of the Lord the earth was moved, at the presence of the God of Jacob:

8 Aligeuza mwamba kuwa ziwa la maji, jiwe gumu kuwa chemchem.

Who turned the rock into pools of water, and the stony hill into fountains of waters.
