Zaburi 107
1 Mshukuruni Yahwe, maana ni mwema, na uaminifu wa agano lake wadumu milele.
BOOK FIFTH: Oh give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for unto eternity endureth his kindness.
2 Waseme hivi waliokombolewa na Yahwe, wale aliowaokoa toka mkononi mwa adui.
Thus let the Lord's redeemed say, even those whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the adversary;
3 Yeye amewakusanya kutoka nchi za kigeni, kutoka mashariki na magharibi, kutoka kaskazini na kusini.
And whom he hath gathered out of the [various] lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the sea.
4 Walitanga-tanga janwani katika njia ya nyika hawakuona mji wa kuishi.
They wandered about in the wilderness, in the desert path; they could not find an inhabited city:
5 Kwa sababu walikuwa na njaa na kiu, walikata tamaa kutokana na uchovu.
Hungry and thirsty, their soul within them fainted.
6 Kisha walimuita Yahwe katika shida yao, naye aliwaokoa toka katika dhiki yao.
Then they cried unto the Lord when they were in distress, [and] out of their afflictions he delivered them.
7 Aliwaongoza kupitia njia ya moja kwa moja waweze kwenda mjini kuishi humo.
And he led them forth on the right way, that they might go to an inhabited city.
8 Oh ili watu wamsifu Yahwe kwa ajili ya uaminifu wa agano lake na kwa mambo ya ajabu aliowatendea wanadamu!
They [therefore] shall give thanks unto the Lord for his kindness, and [proclaim] his wonders to the children of men!
9 Maana hutosheleza shauku za walio na kiu, na hamu ya wale wenye njaa yeye huwashibisha kwa mambo mema.
For he satisfied the longing soul, and the hungry soul he filled with good.—
10 Baadhi walikaa katika giza na uvuli wa mauti, walifungwa katika mateso na minyororo.
Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, bound in misery and [fetters of] iron; —
11 Hii ni kwa sababu walikuwa wameliasi neno la Mungu na walikataa maelekezo ya Aliye Juu.
Because they have rebelled against the words of God, and have contemned the counsel of the Most High;
12 Aliinyenyekesha mioyo yao kupitia magumu; walipata mashaka na hakukuwa na mmoja wa kuwasaidia.
And he humbled with trouble their heart; they stumbled, and there was none to help;
13 Kisha wakamwita Yahwe katika shida yao, naye akawatoa katika dhiki yao.
But when they cry unto the Lord when they are in distress, he saveth them out of their afflictions;
14 Aliwatoa gizani na kwenye uvuli wa mauti na kuvunja vifungo vyao.
He bringeth them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and teareth their bands asunder.
15 Oh ili watu wamsifu Yahwe kwa ajili ya uaminifu wa agano lake na kwa mambo ya ajabu aliyoyatenda kwa wanadamu!
They [therefore] shall give thanks unto the Lord for his kindness, and [proclaim] his wonders to the children of men!
16 Kwa maana amevunja malango ya shaba na kukata mapingo ya chuma.
For he hath broken the doors of copper, and the bolts of iron hath he hewn asunder.—
17 Walikuwa wapumbavu katika njia zao za uasi na kuteswa kwa sababu ya dhambi zao.
Fools, because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.
18 Walipoteza hamu yao ya kula chakula chochote, na waliyakaribia malango ya kifo.
All manner of food their soul abhorreth; and they draw near unto the gates of death;
19 Kisha walimlilia Yahwe katika shida yao, naye akawatoa katika dhiki yao.
But when they cry unto the Lord when they are in distress, he saveth them out of their afflictions.
20 Alituma neno lake na likawaponya, na akawaokoa kutoka katika uharibifu wao.
He sendeth his word and healeth them, and delivereth them from their graves.
21 Oh ili watu wamsifu Yahwe kwa ajili ya uaminifu wa agano lake na kwa mambo ya ajabu aliyoyatenda kwa wanadamu!
They [therefore] shall give thanks unto the Lord for his kindness, and [proclaim] his wonders to the children of men!
22 Na watoe dhabihu ya shukrani na kutangaza matendo yake kwa kuimba.
They shall also sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and relate his deeds with joyful song.—
23 Baadhi husafiri baharini katika meli na kufanya biashara juu ya bahari.
They who go down to the sea in ships, who do business on great waters; —
24 Hawa huona matendo ya Yahwe na maajabu yake baharini.
These have seen the works of the Lord, and his wonders on the deep.
25 Kwa maana aliamuru na alivumisha upepo wa dhoruba ambao uliyainua juu mawimbi ya baharini.
For he spoke, and he raised the stormy wind, which lifteth up its waves.
26 Walipanda juu mawinguni na kushuka vilindini. Nafsi zao ziliyeyuka katika dhiki.
They would mount up to heaven, they would go down to the depths: their soul was melted because of their danger.
27 Waliyumba-yumba na kupepesuka kama walevi na hawakujua la kufanya.
They would reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and all their wisdom was exhausted.
28 Kisha walimlilia Yahwe katika shida yao, naye akawatoa katika dhiki yao.
And they cried unto the Lord when they were in distress, and he brought them out of their afflictions.
29 Aliituliza dhoruba, na mawimbi yakatulia.
He calmed the storm into a whisper, and stilled were the waves of the sea.
30 Ndipo walifurahia kwa sababu bahari ilikuwa shwali, na aliwaleta kwenye bandari waliyoitamani.
And they were rejoiced because they were silent: and then he guided them unto their desired haven.
31 Oh, ili watu wamsifu Yahwe kwa ajili ya uaminifu wa agano lake na kwa mambo ya ajabu aliyowatendea wanadamu!
They [therefore] shall give thanks unto the Lord for his kindness, and [proclaim] his wonders to the children of men!
32 Wamtukuze yeye katika kusanyiko la watu na wamsifu yeye katika baraza la viongozi.
And they must exalt him in the congregation of the people, and in the assembly of the elders must they praise him.—
33 Aligeuza mito ikwa jangwa, chemchem ya maji ikawa nchi kame,
He changeth rivers into a wilderness, and water-springs into parched ground;
34 na nchi ya matunda mengi ikawa nchi isiyozaa kwa sababu ya uovu wa watu wake.
A fruitful land into a salty waste, for the wickedness of those that dwell therein.
35 Aligeuza jangwa likawa ziwa la maji na nchi kame ikawa chemchem ya maji.
He changeth the wilderness into a pool of water, and desert land into water-springs.
36 Aliwakalisha huko wenye njaa, nao walijenga mji na kuishi humo.
And there he causeth to dwell the hungry, that they may found an inhabited city;
37 Walijenga mji ili kupanda mimea shambani, kupanda mizabibu, na kuleta humo mazao tele.
And they sow fields, and plant vineyards, that they may yield the fruits of the [annual] product.
38 Yeye huwabariki wameongezeka sana katika hesabu. Haachi mifugo yao ipungue katika hesabu.
He also blesseth them, and they multiply greatly, and he suffereth not their cattle to diminish.
39 Kisha wakapungua na kudhilika kwa dhiki na mateso.
They were also diminished and bowed low through oppression, misfortune, and sorrow:
40 Akawamwagia viongozi dharau na akawafanya wazunguke katika jangwa, mahali pasipo na njia.
He [then] poureth contempt upon princes, and causeth them to wander in a pathless wilderness.
41 Lakini aliwalinda wahitaji dhidi ya mateso na kujali kwa ajili ya familia yake kama kundi la kondoo.
And he exalteth the needy from misery, and maketh [his] families like flocks.
42 Wenye haki wataona hili na kufurahi, na uovu wote utaona na kufunga kinya chake.
The righteous shall see it, and rejoice; but all wickedness shall stop her mouth.
43 Yeyote mwenye hekima anapaswa kuyaangalia haya na kutafakari juu ya matendo ya uaminifu wa agano la Yahwe.
Whoever is wise, let him observe these things, and let [all] understand the kindness of the Lord.
