< Mithali 23 >
1 Unapoketi kula pamoja na mtawala, angalia kwa uangalifu kilichopo mbele yako,
If you will sit down to eat with a ruler carefully you will consider [that] which [is] before you.
2 na kama ni mtu unayependa kula chakula sana weka kisu kooni.
And you will put a knife in throat your if [are] a master of appetite you.

4 Usifanye kazi sana ili kupata mali; uwe na busara ya kutosha ili ujue wakati wa kuacha.
May not you labor to gain riches from understanding your cease.
5 Je utaruhusu macho yako yaangaze juu yake? Itaondoka, maana itawaa mabawa kama tai na kuruka angani.

6 Usile chakula cha yule mwenye jicho baya- na usiwe na shauku ya vinono vyake,
May not you eat [the] food of a [person] evil of eye and may not (you crave *Q(K)*) for dainties his.
7 maana ni mtu mwenye kuhesabu gharama ya chakula. “Kula na kunywa!” anakuambia, lakini moyo wake haupo pamoja nawe.
For - as he calculates in self his [is] so he eat and drink he says to you and heart his not [is] with you.
8 Utatapika kiasi kidogo ulichokula na utakuwa umepoteza sifa zako njema.
Morsel your [which] you have eaten you will vomit up it and you will spoil words your pleasant.
9 Usiongee katika usikivu wa mpumbavu, maana atadharau hekima ya maneno yako.
In [the] ears of a fool may not you speak for he will despise [the] insight of words your.
10 Usihamishe jiwe la mpaka wa kale au kunyang'anya mashamba ya yatima,
May not you displace a boundary of antiquity and in [the] fields of fatherless ones may not you go.
11 maana Mkombozi wao ni imara na atatetea kesi yao dhidi yako.
For redeemer their [is] strong he he will conduct case their with you.
12 Elekeza moyo wako katika mafundisho na masikio yako kwenye maneno ya maarifa.
Bring! to discipline heart your and ears your to words of knowledge.
13 Usizuie kuadilisha mtoto, maana ukimchapa kwa fimbo, hatakufa.
May not you withhold from a youth discipline for you will strike him with the rod not he will die.
14 Ni wewe unayepaswa kumchapa kwa fimbo na kuikoa nafsi yake kuzimu. (Sheol )
You with the rod you will strike him and life his from Sheol you will deliver. (Sheol )
15 Mwanangu, kama moyo wako una busara, basi moyo wangu utafurahi pia;
O son my if it is wise heart your it will rejoice heart my also I.
16 sehemu zangu ndani kabisa zitafurahi sana midomo yako inaponena haki.
So they may rejoice kidneys my when speak lips your uprightness.
17 Usiruhusu moyo wako kuwahusudu wenye dhambi, lakini endelea kumcha Yehova siku zote.
May not it be jealous heart of your sinners that except in [the] fear of Yahweh all the day.
18 Hakika tumaini lako halitaondolewa na siku zako za hapo baadaye.
That except there [is] a future and hope your not it will be cut off.
19 Sikia- wewe! - mwanangu, na uwe mwenye busara na uelekeze moyo wako katika njia.
Listen O you son my and be wise and guide in the way heart your.
20 Usishirikiane pamoja na walevi, au pamoja na walaji wa nyama walafi,
May not you be among drunkards of wine among gluttons of meat themselves.
21 maana mlevi na mlafi wanakuwa masikini na usingizi utawavika kwa matambara.
For a drunkard and a glutton he will become impoverished and rags it will clothe [them] drowsiness.
22 Msikilize baba yako ambaye alikuzaa na usimdharau mama yako wakati akiwa mzee.
Listen to father your who he begot you and may not you despise if she is old mother your.
23 Inunue kweli, lakini usiiuze; nunua hekima, nidhamu, na ufahamu.
Truth buy and may not you sell [it] wisdom and discipline and understanding.
24 Baba yake mwenye haki atafurahia sana, na yule amzaaye mtoto mwenye busara atamfurahia.
(Certainly he rejoices *Q(k)*) [the] father of a righteous [son] (and [one who] begets *Q(K)*) a wise [son] (he rejoices *Q(K)*) in him.
25 Mfurahishe baba yako na mama yako na yule aliyekuzaa afurahie.

26 Mwanangu, nipe moyo wako na macho yako yachunguze njia zangu.
Give! O son my heart your to me and eyes your ways my (let them observe. *Q(K)*)
27 Maana malaya ni shimo refu, na mke wa mume mwingine ni kisima chembamba.
For [is] a pit deep a prostitute and [is] a well narrow a foreign [woman].
28 Anavizia kama mnyang'anyi na huongeza idadi ya wadanganyifu miongoni mwa wanadamu.
Also she like a robber she lies in wait and treacherous [people] among humankind she increases.
29 Nani mwenye taabu? Nani mwenye huzuni? Nani mwenye mapigano? Nani mwenye malalamiko? Nani mwenye majeraha bila sababu? Nani mwenye macho mekundu?
[belongs] to Whom? woe [belongs] to whom? woe! [belong] to whom? (contentions *Q(K)*) [belongs] to whom? complaint [belong] to whom? wounds without cause [belongs] to whom? dullness of eyes.
30 Ni wale ambao huzengea kwenye mvinyo, wale wanaojaribu kuchanganya mvinyo.

31 Usiutazame mvinyo ukiwa mwekundu, wakati unametameta kwenye kikombe na kutelemka kwa uraini.

32 Mwisho wake unauma kama nyoka na sumu yake kama kifutu.
End its like a snake it will bite and like a viper it will sting.
33 Macho yako yataona vitu vigeni na moyo wako utatamka vitu vya ukaidi.
Eyes your they will see strange [things] and heart your it will speak perverse things.
34 Utakuwa kama anayelala kwenye bahari au anayelala juu ya mlingoti. “
And you will be like [one who] lies down in [the] heart of [the] sea and like [one who] lies down at [the] top of a mast.
35 Wamenipiga,” utasema, “lakini sikuumia. Wamenichapa, lakini sikuwa na hisia. Nitaamka lini? Nitatafuta kinywaji kingine.”
