1 Ilitokea baada ya tauni ambayo BWANA alimwambia Musa na Eliazari mwana wa Haruni kuhani, Alisema,

And it came to pass after the plague, That the Lord spoke unto Moses and unto Elazar the son of Aaron the priest, saying,

Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, from twenty years old and upward, by the descent from their fathers, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel.

3 Kwa hiyo Musa na Eliazari kuhani wakawaambia katika uwanda wa Moabu karibu na Yorodani kule Yeriko na kusema,

And Moses with El'azar the priest spoke with them in the plains of Moab by the Jordan opposite Jericho, saying,

[Take the sum of the people, ] from twenty years old and upward; as the Lord commanded Moses and the children of Israel, who went forth out of the land of Egypt.

Of Chezron, the family of the Chezronites; of Carmi, the family of the Carmites.

7 Hizi ndizo zilikuwa koo za uzao wa Reubeni, ambzo idadi yao ilikuwa wanaume 43, 730.

These are the families of the Reubenites; and those that were numbered of them were forty and three thousand and seven hundred and thirty.

8 Eliabu alikuwa mwana wa Palu.

And the sons of Pallu: Eliab.

9 Wana wa Eliabu walikuwa ni Nemueli, Dathani. na Abiramu. Hawa ni walewale Dathani na Abiramu waliomfuata Kora waliompinga Musa na Haruni na kumpinga BWANA.

And the sons of Eliab: Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram. These are Dathan and Abiram, men called to the assembly, who quarreled against Moses and against Aaron in the company of Korach, at the time they quarreled against the Lord;

Of Zerach, the family of the Zarchites; of Shaul, the family of the Shaulites.

These are the families of the Simeonites, twenty and two thousand and two hundred.

15 Koo za uzao wa Gadi zilikuwa hizi: Kwa Zefoni, Ukoo wa Wazefoni, kwa Hagi, ukoo wa Wahagi, kwa Shuni, ukoo wa Washuni,

The children of Gad after their families: of Zephon, the family of the Zephonites; of Chaggi, the family of the Chaggites; of Shuni, the family of the Shunites;

16 kwa Ozini, ukoo wa Waozini, kwa Eri, ukoo wa Waeri,

Of Ozni, the family of the Oznites; of 'Eri, the family of the 'Erites;

These are the families of the children of Gad according to those that were numbered of them, forty thousand and five hundred.

19 Wana wa Yuda walikwa Er na Onani, lakini hawa walifia katika nchi ya Kanaani.

The sons of Judah were 'Er and Onan; and 'Er with Onan died in the land of Canaan.

These are the families of Judah, according to those that were numbered of them, seventy and six thousand and five hundred.

23 Koo za uzao wa Isakari zilikuwa hizi: Kwa Tola, ukoo wa Watola, kwa Puva, ukoo wa Wapuva,

The sons of Issachar after their families: of Tola', the family of the Tola'ites; of Puva, the family of the Punites;

24 kwa Jashubu, ukoo wa Wajashubu, kwa Shimroni, ukoo wa Washimroni.

Of Yashub, the family of the Yashubites; of Shimron, the family of the Shimronites.

25 Hizi ndizo zilikuwa koo za Isakari, Idadi yao ilikuwa wanaume 64, 300.

These are the families of Issachar according to those that were numbered of them, sixty and four thousand and three hundred.

26 Koo za uzao wa Zabuloni zilikuwa hizi: Kwa Seredi, ukoo wa Waseredi, kwa Eloni, ukoo wa Waeloni, kwa Jahaleeli, ukoo wa Wajahaleeli.

The sons of Zebulun after their families: of Sered, the family of the Sardites; of Elon, the family of the Elonites; of Yachleel, the family of the Yachleelites.

27 Hizi ndizo zilikuwa koo za Zabuloni, idadi y ao ilikuwa wanaume 60, 500.

These are the families of the Zebulonites according to those that were numbered of them, sixty thousand and five hundred.

28 Koo za uzao wa Ysufu zilikuwa Manase na Efraimu.

The sons of Joseph after their families are Menasseh and Ephraim.

29 Huu ndio uliokuwa uzao wa Manase: Kwa Machiri, ukoo wa Wamachiri (Machiri ndiye aliyekuwa baba wa Giliedi), kwa Giliedi, ukoo wa Wagiliedi.

The sons of Menasseh: of Machir, the family of the Machirites; and Machir begat Gil'ad; of Gil'ad, the family of the Gil'adites.

30 Wazo wa Giliedi walikuwa hawa wfuatao: Kwa Lezeri, ukoo wa Walezeri, kwa Helweki, ukoo wa Waheleki, kwa Asrieli,

These are the sons of Gil'ad: of I'ezer, the family of the I'ezerites; of Chelek, the family of the Chelkites;

31 ukoo wa Asrieli wa Waasrieli, kwa Shekemu, ukoo wa Washekemu,

And of Assriel, the family of the Assrielites; and of Shechem, the family of the Shichmites;

32 kwa Shemida, ukoo wa Washemida, kwa Hefa, ukoo wa Wahefa.

And of Shemida', the family of the Shemida'ites; and of Chepher, the family of the Chephrites.

33 Zelofehadi mwana wa Hefa hakuwa na watoto wa kiume bali alikuwa na mabinti. Majina ya binti zake yalikuwa Mahilahi, Noha, Hoglaha, Milika, na Tiriza.

And Zelophehad the son of Chepher had no sons, but only daughters; and the names of the daughters of Zelophehad were Machlah, and No'ah, Choglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

These are the families of Menasseh; and those that were numbered of them were fifty and two thousand and seven hundred.

35 Koo za wana wa uzao wa Efraimu zilikuwa hizi zifuatazo: Kwa Shuthelaha, ukoo wa Washutheleha, kwa Becheri, ukoo wa Wabecheri, kwa Tahana, ukoo wa Watahana.

These are the sons of Ephraim after their families: of Shuthelach, the family of the Shuthalchites; of Becher, the family of the Bachrites; of Tachan, the family of the Tachanites.

36 Uzao wa Shuthelaha walikuwa, kwa Erani, ukoo wa Waerani.

And these are the sons of Shuthelach: of 'Eran, the family of the Eranites.

37 Hizi ndizo koo za uzao wa Efraimu, idadi yao ilikuwa wanaume 32, 500. Huu ndio uzao wa Yusufu, uliohesabiwa toka kila koo zao.

These are the families of the sons of Ephraim according to those that were numbered of them, thirty and two thousand and five hundred: these are the sons of Joseph after their families.

38 Koo za uzao wa Benjamini zilikuwa hizi zifuatazo: Kwa Bela ukoo wa Wabela, kwa Ashibeli, ukoo wa Washibeli, kwa Ahiramu, ukoo wa Wahiramu,

The sons of Benjamin after their families: of Bela', the family of the Bal'ites; of Ashbel, the family of the Ashbelites; of Achiram, the family of the Achiramites;

39 kwa Shefufamu, ukoo wa Washefumamu, kwa Hufamu, ukoo wa Wahufamu.

Of Shephupham, the family of the Shuphamites; of Chupham, the family of the Chuphamites.

40 Wana wa Bela walikuwa ni Ardi na Naamani. Kutoka kwa Ardi ulijitokeza ukoo wa Waardi, na kutoka kwa Naamani ukajaitokeza ukoo wa Wanaamani.

And the sons of Bela' were Ard and Na'aman: of Ard, the family of the Ardites; and of Na'aman, the family of the Na'amites.

41 Hizi ndizo koo za uzao wa Benjamini. Idadai yao ilikuwa wanaume 45, 600.

These are the sons of Benjamin after their families; and those that were numbered of them were forty and five thousand and six hundred.

42 Kooo za uzao wa Dani zilikuwa hizi zifuatazo: Kwa Shuhamu, ukoo wa Washuhamu. Hizi ndizo koo za uzao wa Dani.

These are the sons of Dan after their families: of Shucham, the family of the Shuchamites; these are the families of Dan after their families.

43 Idadi ya koo zote za Washuhamu ilikuwa wanaume 64, 400.

All the families of the Shuchamites, according to those that were numbered of them, were sixty and four thousand and four hundred.

44 Koo za uzao wa Asheri zilikuwa zifuatazo: Kwa Imna, ukoo wa Waimna, kwa Ishvi, ukoo wa Waishivi, kwa Beria, ukoo wa Waberia.

The children of Asher after their families: of Yimnah, the family of the Yimnites; of Yishvi, the family of the Yishvites; of Beri'ah, the family of the Beri'ites.

45 Uzao wa Beria walikuwa hawa: Kwa Heberi, ukoo wa Waheberi, kwa Malikieli, ukoo wa Wamalikieli.

Of the sons of Beri'ah: of Cheber, the family of the Chebrites; of Malkiel, the family of the Makielites.

46 Jina la binti wa Asheri lilikuwa Sera.

And the name of the daughter of Asher was Serach.

47 Hizi ndizo koo za uzao wa Asheri, idadi yao ilikuwa wanaume 53, 400.

These are the families of the sons of Asher according to those that were numbered of them, fifty and three thousand and four hundred.

48 Koo za uzao wa Naftali zilikuwa zifuatazo: Kwa Jahazeeli, ukoo wa Wajahazeel, kwa Guni, ukoo wa Waguni,

The sons of Naphtali after their families: of Yachzeel, the family of the Yachzeelites; of Guni, the family of the Gunites;

49 kwa Jezeri, ukoo wa Wajezeri, kwa Shilemu, ukoo wa Washilemu.

Of Yezer, the family of the Yizrites; of Shillem, the family of the Shillemites.

50 Hizi ndizo zilizokuwa koo za uzao wa Naftali, idadi yao walikuwa wanaume 45, 000.

These are the families of Naphtali according to their families; and those that were numbered of them were forty and five thousand and four hundred.

51 Hii ndiyo iliyokuwa jumla kuu ya wanaume wa Israeli: 601, 730.

These were the numbered of the children of Israel, six hundred thousand, and one thousand, seven hundred and thirty.

52 BWANA akanena na Musa akamwambia,

And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,

53 Ile ardhi itagawanywa kati ya wanaume hawa kama urithi wao kwa kufuata idadi ya majina yao.

Unto these shall the land be divided for an inheritance according to the number of the names.

54 Kwa zile koo kubwa utawagawia urithi mkubwa, na kwa koo ndogo ndogo utawagawia urithi kidogo. Kwa kila familia utawapa urithi kufuata idadi ya wanaume waliohesabiwa.

To the large tribe shalt thou give the more inheritance, and to the small shalt thou give the less inheritance: to each according to those that were numbered thereof shall its inheritance be given.

55 Lakini ardhi itagawiwa kwa kupigiwa kura. Watairithi nchi kama itakavyogawiwa kwa kufuata koo za mababu.

Nevertheless, through the lot shall the land be divided: according to the names of the tribes of their fathers shall they obtain their inheritance.

56 Urithi huu utagiwiwa kufuata koo kubwa na ndogo, watagawiwa kwa kufuata kura zitakavyokuwa.

By the decision of the lot shall the inheritance of each be divided, according as they are many or few.

57 Koo za Walawi, zilizohesabiwa kwa kufuata ukoo kwa ukoo, walikuwa hivi: Kwa Gerishoni, ukoo wa Wagerishoni, kwa Kohathi, ukoo wa Wakohathi, kwa Merari, ukoo wa Wamerari.

And these are those that were numbered of the Levites after their families: of Gershon, the family of the Gershunites: of Kehath, the family of the Kehathites; of Merari, the family of the Merarites.

58 Koo za walawi zilikuwa hzi: ukoo wa Walibni, Ukoo wa Wahebroni, ukoo wa Wamahali, ukoo wa Wamushi, na ukoo wa Wakora. Kohathi alikuwa wa uzao wa Amramu.

These are the families of Levi: the family of the Libnites, the family of the Chebronites, the family of the Machlites, the family of the Mushites, the family of the Korchites; and Kehath begat 'Amran.

59 Jina la mke wa Amramu lilikuwa Jokibed, wa ukoo wa Lawi, aliyekuwa amezaliwa kwa Walawi kule Misri. Alimzalia Amramu watoto wao, ambao walikuwa ni Haruni, Musa, na Miriamu dada yao.

And the name of 'Amram's wife was Yochebed, the daughter of Levi, whom [her mother] bore to Levi in Egypt; and she bore unto Amram, Aaron and Moses, and Miriam their sister.

60 Kwa Haruni alizaliwa Nadabu na Abihu, Eliazari na Ithamari.

And there were born unto Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, Elazar, and Ithamar.

61 Nadabu na Abihu walikufa walipotoa sadaka kwa BWANA sadaka ya moto isiyokubalika.

And Nadab and Abihu died, when they offered a strange fire before the Lord.

62 Waume walioheabaiwa miionigoni mwao walikuwa elfu ishirini na tatu, hawa nia wale wa umri wa mwezi mmoja na zaidi. Lakini hawakuhesabiwa kati ya wazawa wa Israeli kwa sababu hawakupewa urithi miongoni mwa wana wa Israeli.

And those that were numbered of them were twenty and three thousand, all the males from a month old and upward; for they were not numbered among the children of Israel, because there was not given unto them any inheritance among the children of Israel.

63 Hawa nadio wale walihesabiwa na Musa na Eliazari kuhani. Waliwahesabu watu wa Israeli katika uwanda wa Moabu karibu na Yorodani kule Yeriko.

These are those that were numbered by Moses and Elazar the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, opposite Jericho.

64 Lakini miongoni mwa hawa hapakuwa na mwanamume aliyehasabiwa na Musa na Haruni kuhani wakati wana wa uzao wa Israeli walipohesabiwa katika jangwa la Sinai.

And among these there was not one man of those whom Moses and Aaron the priest had numbered, who numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai.

65 Kwa BWANA alikuwa amesema kuwa kwa hakika watu hao wote wangefia jangwani. Hapakuwa na mtu aliyebaki miongoni mwao, isipokuwa Kalebu mwana wa Yefune na Joshua mwana wa Nuni.

For the Lord had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness: and there was not left of them one man, save Caleb the son of Yephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
