Mathayo 23
1 Baadaye aliongea na umati wa watu na wanafunzi wake. Akasema,
Then spake Iesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,
2 “Waandishi na Mafarisayo wanakalia kiti cha Musa.
Saying, The Scribes and the Pharises sit in Moses seate.
3 Kwa hiyo chochote wanacho waamuru kufanya, fanyeni huku mkiwachunguza. Lakini msije mkaiga matendo yao, kwa sababu wao hutamka mambo wasiyoyafanya.
All therefore whatsoeuer they bid you obserue, that obserue and doe: but after their workes doe not: for they say, and doe not.
4 Kweli, wao hufunga mizigo mizito ambayo ni vigumu kuibeba, na kisha huwabebesha watu mabegani mwao. Lakini wao wenyewe hawasogezi hata kidole kuibeba.
For they binde heauie burdens, and grieuous to be borne, and lay them on mens shoulders, but they themselues will not moue them with one of their fingers.
5 Matendo yao yote, huyafanya ili watazamwe na watu. Kwa sababu wao hupanua masanduku yao na huongeza ukubwa wa mapindo ya mavazi yao.
All their workes they doe for to be seene of men: for they make their phylacteries broad, and make long the frindges of their garments,
6 Wao hupendelea kukaa maeneo ya kifahari katika sherehe na katika viti vya heshima ndani ya masinagogi,
And loue the chiefe place at feastes, and to haue the chiefe seates in the assemblies,
7 na kusalimiwa kwa heshima maeneo ya sokoni, na kuitwa “Walimu” na watu.
And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.
8 Lakini ninyi hampaswi kuitwa “Walimu,” Kwa kuwa mnaye Mwalimu mmoja, na ninyi wote ni ndugu.
But be not ye called, Rabbi: for one is your doctour, to wit, Christ, and all ye are brethren.
9 Msimuite mtu yeyote hapa duniani kuwa baba yenu, kwa kuwa mnaye Baba mmoja tu, naye yuko mbinguni.
And call no man your father vpon the earth: for there is but one, your father which is in heauen.
10 Wala msije kuitwa 'walimu,' kwa kuwa mnaye Mwalimu mmoja tu, yaani Kristo.
Be not called doctours: for one is your doctour, euen Christ.
11 Bali aliye mkubwa miongoni mwenu atakuwa mtumishi wenu.
But he that is greatest among you, let him be your seruant.
12 Yeyote ajiinuae atashushwa. Na yeyote anaye jishusha atainuliwa.
For whosoeuer will exalt himselfe, shall be brought lowe: and whosoeuer will humble himselfe, shalbe exalted.
13 Lakini ole wenu waandishi na Mafarisayo, wanafiki! Mnawafungia watu ufalme wa mbinguni. Nanyi hamwezi kuuingia, na hamwaruhusu wanaoingia kufanya hivyo.
Wo therefore be vnto you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites, because ye shut vp the kingdome of heauen before men: for ye your selues go not in, neither suffer ye them that would enter, to come in.
14 (Zingatia: Msitari wa 14 hauonekani katika nakala bora za kale. Baadhi ya nakala huongeza msitari huu baada ya msitari wa 12. Msitari wa 14 “Ole wenu wandishi na Mafarisayo wanafiki! Kwa kuwa mnawameza wajane”).
Wo be vnto you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye deuoure widowes houses, euen vnder a colour of long prayers: wherefore ye shall receiue the greater damnation.
15 Ole wenu Waandishi na Mafarisayo, wanafiki! Mnavuka ngambo ya bahari na kufika kumfanya mtu mmoja aamini yale mnayoyafundisha, na anapokuwa kama ninyi, mnamfanya mara mbili mwana wa jehanamu kama ninyi wenyewe mlivyo. (Geenna g1067)
Wo be vnto you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye compasse sea and land to make one of your profession: and when he is made, ye make him two folde more the childe of hell, then you your selues. (Geenna g1067)
16 Ole wenu viongozi vipofu, ninyi msemao, Yeyote aapaye kwa hekalu, si kitu. Lakini anayeapa kwa dhahabu ya hekalu, amefungwa na kiapo chake.
Wo be vnto you blinde guides, which say, Whosoeuer sweareth by the Temple, it is nothing: but whosoeuer sweareth by the golde of the Temple, he offendeth.
17 Enyi vipofu wapumbavu, kipi ni kikubwa kuliko kingine, dhahabu au hekalu ambalo limeweka wakfu dhahabu kwa Mungu?
Ye fooles and blinde, whether is greater, the golde, or the Temple that sanctifieth the golde?
18 Na, yeyote aapaye kwa madhabahu, si kitu. Bali anayeapa kwa sadaka iliyo juu yake, amefungwa na kiapo chake.
And whosoeuer sweareth by the altar, it is nothing: but whosoeuer sweareth by the offering that is vpon it, offendeth.
19 Enyi watu vipofu, kipi ni kikubwa kuliko kingine, sadaka au madhabahu ambayo huweka wakfu sadaka zinazotolewa kwa Mungu?
Ye fooles and blinde, whether is greater, the offering, or the altar which sanctifieth the offering?
20 Kwa hiyo, yeye aapaye kwa madhabahu huapa kwa hiyo na kwa vitu vyote vilivyo juu yake.
Whosoeuer therefore sweareth by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.
21 Naye aapaye kwa hekalu, huapa kwa hilo na kwa yeye akaaye ndani yake.
And whosoeuer sweareth by the Temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.
22 Na yeye aapaye kwa mbingu, huapa kwa kiti cha enzi cha Mungu na kwa yeye aketie juu yake.
And he that sweareth by heauen, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.
23 Ole wenu, waandishi na Mafarisayo, wanafiki! Kwa kuwa mnalipa zaka kwa bizali, mnaanaa na mchicha, lakini mnaacha mambo mazito ya sheria- haki, rehema, na imani. Lakini haya mnapaswa kuwa mmeyafanya, na siyo kuacha mengine bila kuyatekeleza.
Wo be to you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye tithe mynt, and annyse, and cummyn, and leaue the weightier matters of the law, as iudgement, and mercy and fidelitie. These ought ye to haue done, and not to haue left the other.
24 Enyi viongozi vipofu, ninyi ambao mnachuja mdudu mdogo lakini mnameza ngamia!
Ye blinde guides, which straine out a gnat, and swallowe a camell.
25 Ole wenu, waandishi na Mafarisayo, wanafiki! Kwa kuwa mnasafisha nje ya vikombe na nje ya sahani, lakini ndani pamejaa dhuluma na kutokuwa na kiasi.
Wo be to you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye make cleane the vtter side of the cup, and of the platter: but within they are ful of briberie and excesse.
26 Enyi Mafarisayo vipofu, safisheni kwanza ndani ya kikombe na ndani ya sahani, ili upande wa nje nao pia uwe safi.
Thou blinde Pharise, cleanse first the inside of the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be cleane also.
27 Ole wenu, waandishi na Mafarisayo, wanafiki! Kwa kuwa mnafanana na makaburi yaliyopakwa chokaa, ambayo kwa nje huonekana mazuri, lakini kwa ndani yamejaa mifupa ya wafu na kila kitu kilicho kichafu.
Wo be to you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye are like vnto whited tombes, which appeare beautifull outward, but are within full of dead mens bones, and all filthines.
28 Vivyo hivyo, nanyi kwa nje mwaonekana wenye haki mbele ya watu, lakini kwa ndani mmejaa unafiki na udhalimu.
So are ye also: for outwarde ye appeare righteous vnto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisie and iniquitie.
29 Ole wenu, waandishi na Mafarisayo, wanafiki! Kwa kuwa mwajenga makaburi ya manabii na kuyapamba makaburi ya wenye haki.
Wo be vnto you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye build the tombes of the Prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,
30 Ninyi mwasema, kama tungeishi siku za baba zetu, tusingekuwa tumeshiriki pamoja nao kumwaga damu za manabii.
And say, If we had bene in the dayes of our fathers, we would not haue bene partners with them in the blood of the Prophets.
31 Kwa hiyo mwajishuhudia wenyewe kwamba ninyi ni watoto wa hao waliowaua manabii.
So then ye be witnesses vnto your selues, that ye are the children of them that murthered the Prophets.
32 Pia ninyi mnakamilisha kujaza sehemu inayostahili dhambi ya baba zenu.
Fulfill ye also ye measure of your fathers.
O serpents, the generation of vipers, howe should ye escape the damnation of hell! (Geenna g1067)
34 Kwahiyo, tazama, nawatuma kwenu manabii, watu wenye hekima, na waandishi. Baadhi yao mtawaua na kuwasulibisha. Na baadhi yao mtawachapa ndani ya masinagogi yenu na kuwafukuza kutoka mji mmoja hadi mwingine.
Wherefore beholde, I send vnto you Prophets, and wise men, and Scribes, and of them ye shall kill and crucifie: and of them shall ye scourge in your Synagogues, and persecute from citie to citie,
35 Matokeo ni kwamba juu yenu patatokea damu zote za wenye haki zilizomwagwa duniani, kuanzia damu ya Habili mwenye haki hadi kwa damu ya Zakaria mwana wa Barakia, mliye muua kati ya patakatifu na madhabahu.
That vpon you may come all the righteous blood that was shed vpon the earth, from the blood of Abel the righteous, vnto the blood of Zacharias the sonne of Barachias, whome ye slewe betweene the Temple and the altar.
36 Kweli, nawaambieni, mambo haya yote yatakipata kizazi hiki.
Verely I say vnto you, all these things shall come vpon this generation.
37 Yerusalemu, Yerusalemu, wewe unayewaua manabii na kuwapiga mawe wale ambao wanatumwa kwako! mara ngapi nimewakusanya watoto wako pamoja kama vile kuku awakusanyavyo vifaranga wake chini ya mbawa zake, lakini haukukubali!
Hierusalem, Hierusalem, which killest the Prophets, and stonest them which are sent to thee, how often would I haue gathered thy children together, as the henne gathereth her chickins vnder her wings, and ye would not!
38 Tazama, nyumba yako imebaki ukiwa.
Beholde, your habitation shalbe left vnto you desolate,
39 Nami nakuambia, Kuanzia sasa na kuendelea hautaniona, hadi utakaposema, 'Amebarikiwa yeye ajaye kwa jina la Bwana.”'
For I say vnto you, ye shall not see mee henceforth till that ye say, Blessed is he that commeth in the Name of the Lord.
