1 Kila mwisho wa kila miaka saba, mnapaswa kufuta madeni.
At the end of every seven years thou shall make a release.
2 Hii ni tabia ya ukombozi. Kila mkopeshaji atafuta kile alichompa jirani yake, hata dai kutoka kwa jirani yake au ndugu yake kwa sababu ufutaji wa madeni wa Yahwe umetangazwa.
And this is the manner of the release: Every creditor shall release that which he has lent to his neighbor. He shall not exact it from his neighbor and his brother, because Jehovah's release has been proclaimed.
3 Kutoka kwa mgeni mnaweza kudai; lakini kwa chochote chenu kilicho na ndugu yenu mnapaswa mkitoe.
From a foreigner thou may exact it, but whatever of thine is with thy brother, thy hand shall release.
4 Hata hivyo, pasiwepo maskini miongoni mwenu (kwa kuwa Yahwe kwa hakika atawabariki kwenye nchi ambayo anawapa kama urithi kumiliki)
However there shall be no poor with thee (for Jehovah will surely bless thee in the land which Jehovah thy God gives thee for an inheritance to possess it),
5 kama peke yenu mnasikiliza kwa bidii sauti ya Yahwe Mungu wenu, kuzishika amri zote ambazo anawaamuru leo.
if only thou diligently hearken to the voice of Jehovah thy God, to observe to do all this commandment which I command thee this day.
6 Kwa kuwa Yahwe Mungu wenu atawabariki, kama alivyowaahidia; mtakopesha mataifa mengi, lakini hamtaazima; mtaongoza juu ya mataifa mengi, lakini hayatawaongoza ninyi.
For Jehovah thy God will bless thee as he promised thee, and thou shall lend to many nations, but thou shall not borrow, and thou shall rule over many nations, but they shall not rule over thee.
7 Kama kuna mtu maskini miongoni mwenu, moja wa ndugu zenu, ndani ya malango yenu yoyote kwenye nchi yenu ambayo Yahwe Mungu wenu anawapa, msifanye migumu mioyo yenu wala kufunga mkono wenu toka kwa ndugu yenu,
If there be with thee a poor man, one of thy brothers, within any of thy gates in thy land which Jehovah thy God gives thee, thou shall not harden thy heart, nor shut thy hand from thy poor brother,
8 Lakini mnapaswa hakika kufungua mkono wenu kwake na hakika mkopeshe yeye vya kutosha hitaji lake.
but thou shall surely open thy hand to him, and shall surely lend him sufficient for his need which he wants.
9 Muwe makini kutokuwa na wazo ovu au potovu katika moyo wenu, kusema, “Mwaka wa saba, mwaka wa ukombozi u karibu; ili kwamba msiwe wachoyo kuhusiana na ndugu zenu maskini na haumpi chochote; anaweza kumlilia Yahwe kuhusu nyie, na itakuwa dhambi yenu.
Beware that there not be a base thought in thy heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand, and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou give him nothing, and he cry to Jehovah against thee, and it be sin to thee.
10 Mnapaswa kwa hakika mmpe, na moyo wenu hampaswi kuhuzunika wakati mnampa, kwa sababu kurudishiwa kwa Yahwe huyu Mungu wenu atawabariki katika kazi zenu zote na katika chochote mnaweka mkono wenu.
Thou shall surely give him, and thy heart shall not be grieved when thou give to him, because for this thing Jehovah thy God will bless thee in all thy work, and in all that thou put thy hand to.
11 Kwa kuwa maskini kamwe hatakoma kuishi katika nchi, kwa hiyo nakuamuru wewe na kusema, “Unapaswa kwa hakika ufungue mkono wako kwa ndugu yako, kwa mhitaji wako, na kwa maskini wako katika nchi yako.
For the poor will never cease out of the land. Therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shall surely open thy hand to thy brother, to thy needy, and to thy poor, in thy land.
12 Kama ndugu yako, ni mwebrania wa kiume au mwebrania wa kike, ameuzwa kwako na anakutumikia kwa miaka saba, basi katika mwaka wa saba unapaswa umwache aende zake huru.
If thy brother, a Hebrew man, or a Hebrew woman, is sold to thee, and serves thee six years, then in the seventh year thou shall let him go free from thee.
13 Unapomwacha aende zake huru, usimwache aende mkono mtupu.
And when thou let him go free from thee, thou shall not let him go empty.
14 Unapaswa kwa ukarimu hutoe kwake kutoka mifugo yako, kutoka pura iliyo chini, na kinu chako cha mvinyo. Kama Yahwe Mungu wako alivyokubariki, unapaswa umpe yeye.
Thou shall furnish him liberally out of thy flock, and out of thy threshing-floor, and out of thy winepress. As Jehovah thy God has blessed thee thou shall give to him.
15 Unapaswa kukumbuka kwamba ulikuwa mtumwa kwenye nchi ya Misri, na kwamba Yahwe Mungu wako alikukomboa; kwa hiyo ninakuamuru leo kufanya hivi.
And thou shall remember that thou were a bondman in the land of Egypt, and Jehovah thy God redeemed thee. Therefore I command thee this thing today.
16 Itakuwa kwamba kama atasema kwako, “Sitaenda mbali yako; kwa sababu anakupenda na nyumba yako, na kwa sababu ni mzuri kwako,
And it shall be, if he says to thee, I will not go out from thee, because he loves thee and thy house, because he is well with thee,
17 basi unapaswa kuchukua uma na msukumo kupitia sikio lake kwenye mlango, na atakuwa mtumwa wako milele. Na pia kwa mtumwa wako wa kike utafanya vilevile.
then thou shall take an awl, and thrust it through his ear to the door, and he shall be thy servant forever. And also to thy maid-servant thou shall do likewise.
18 Isionekane kuwa vigumu kwako kumwachia aende zake huru, kwa sababu amekutumikia kwa miaka sita na amekupa mara mbili udhamani wa mtu aliyeajiriwa. Yahwe Mungu wako atakubariki katika yote unayofanya.
It shall not seem hard to thee when thou let him go free from thee, for he has been worth a double hired servant to thee, in serving thee six years. And Jehovah thy God will bless thee in all that thou do.
19 Wazao wote wa kwanza wa kiume katika wanyama na mifugo wako unapaswa uwatenge kwa Yahwe Mungu wako. Hautafanya kazi na mzao wa kwanza wa wanyama wako wala kumnyoa mzao wa kwanza wa mfugo wako.
All the firstling males that are born of thy herd and of thy flock thou shall sanctify to Jehovah thy God. Thou shall do no work with the firstling of thy herd, nor shear the firstling of thy flock.
20 Unapaswa umle mzaliwa wa kwanza mbele ya Yahwe Mungu wako kila mwaka katika eneo ambalo Yahwe atachagua, wewe na nyumba yako.
Thou shall eat it before Jehovah thy God year by year in the place which Jehovah shall choose, thou and thy household.
21 Kama ina kasoro yoyote- kwa mfano, kama ni kilema au kipofu, au ana kasoro yoyote- haupaswi kumtoa dhabihu kwa Yahwe Mungu wako.
And if it has any blemish, as lame or blind, any ill blemish whatever, thou shall not sacrifice it to Jehovah thy God.
22 Utamla ndani ya malango yako; mtu asiye najisi na aliye najisi ni sawa unapaswa kula, kama ungekula paa au kulungu.
Thou shall eat it within thy gates. The unclean man and the clean man alike, as the gazelle, and as the hart.
23 Pekee haupaswi kunywa damu yake; unapaswa kuimwanga damu yake juu ya ardhi kama maji.
Only thou shall not eat the blood of it. Thou shall pour it out upon the ground as water.
