Amosi 1
1 Haya ni mambo yanayoihusu Israeli ambayo Amosi, mmoja wa wachungaji katika Tekoa, aliyapokea katika ufunuo. Alipokea haya mambo katika siku za Uzia mfalme wa Yuda, na pia katika siku za Yeroboamu mwana wa Yoashi mfalme wa Israeli, miaka miwili kabla ya tetemeko la aridhi.
The words of Amos, who was among the shepherds of Tekoa, which he saw about Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
2 Alisema, “Yahwe atanguruma kutoka Sayuni; atainua sauti yake kutoka Yerusalemu. Malisho ya wachungaji yatanyamaza kimya; kilele cha Karmeli kitanyauka.”
And he said: The Lord will roar from Zion, and from Jerusalem he will utter his voice. And the beautiful pastures have mourned, and the top of Carmel has become dry.
3 Hivi ndivyo Yahwe asemavyo: “Kwa dhambi tatu za Damaskasi, hata kwa nne, sintobadilisha adhabu, kwa sababu wameipura Gileadi kwa vyombo vya chuma.
Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of Damascus, and for four, I will not convert it, in so far as they have threshed Gilead into iron wagons.
4 Nitapeleka moto kwenye nyumba ya Hazaeli, na utaiteketeza ngome za Ben Hadadi.
And I will send fire onto the house of Hazael, and it will devour the houses of Ben-hadad.
5 Nitazivunja komeo za Damaskasi na kumkatilia mbali mtu ambaye aishiye katika Biqati Aveni, na pia yule mtu ashikaye fimbo ya kifalme katika Beth Edeni. Na watu wa shamu watakwenda utumwani hata Kiri,” asema Yahwe.
And I will shatter the crowbar of Damascus, and I will destroy the inhabitants of the camp of the idol and the holder of the scepter of the house of pleasure; and the people of Syria will be transferred to Cyrene, says the Lord.
6 Hivi ndivyo Yahwe asemavyo: “Kwa dhambi tatu za Gaza, hata nne, sintobadilisha adhabu, kwa sababu waliwachukua mateka watu wote, kuwaweka juu ya mkono wa Edomu.
Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of Gaza, and for four, I will not convert it, in so far as they have carried out an excellent captivity, so as to enclose them in Idumea.
7 Nitatuma moto kwenye kuta za Gaza, na kuziteketeza ngome zake.
And I will send a fire onto the wall of Gaza, and it will devour its buildings.
8 Nitamkatilia mbali yule mtu aishiye katika Ashdodi na mtu ashikaye fimbo ya kifalme kutoka Ashkeloni. Nitaugeuza mkono wangu dhidi ya Ekroni, na mabaki ya Wafilisti wataangamia,” asema Bwana Yahwe.
And I will destroy the inhabitant from Ashdod, and the holder of the scepter of Ashkelon. And I will turn my hand against Ekron, and the remainder of the Philistines will perish, says the Lord God.
9 Hivi ndivyo Yhawe asemavyo: “Kwa dhambi tatu za Tiro, hata kwa nne, sintobadili adhabu, kwa sababu waliwapelekea watu wote wa Edomu, na wamevunja agano lao la undugu.
Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of Tyre, and for four, I will not convert it, in so far as they have completed an excellent captivity in Idumea and have not considered the bond among brothers.
10 Nitapeleka moto kwenye kuta za Tiro, nao utaziteketeza ngome zake.”
And I will send a fire onto the wall of Tyre, and it will devour its buildings.
11 Hivi ndivyo Yahwe asemavyo, “Kwa dhambi tatu za Edomu, hata kwa nne, sintobadilisha adhabu, kwa sababu alimfuatilia ndugu yake kwa upanga na kutupilia mbali huruma zote. Hasira yake ikaendelea kuwa kali, na ghadhabu yake ikabaki milele.
Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of Edom, and for four, I will not convert him, in so far as he has been pursuing his brother with the sword and has outraged his brother’s compassion, and he has gone beyond his anger and has held onto his indignation until the end.
12 Nitapeleka moto juu ya Temani, na utaziteketeza nyumb a za kifalme za Bozra.”
I will send a fire onto Teman, and it will devour the buildings of Bozrah.
13 Hivi ndivyo Yahwe asemavyo, “Kwa dhambi tatu za watu wa Amoni, hata kwa nne, sintobadilisha adhabu, kwa sababu wamewapasua wanawake wa Gileadi wenye mimba, ili waweze kupanua mipaka yao.
Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of the sons of Ammon, and for four, I will not convert him, in so far as he has cut up the pregnant women of Gilead, so as to expand his limits.
14 Nitawasha moto katika kuta za Raba, nao utaziteketeza nyumba za kifalme, pamoja na kupiga kelele katika siku ya vita, pamoja na dhoruba katika siku ya kimbunga.
And I will ignite a fire on the wall of Rabbah. And it will devour its buildings, with wailing on the day of war, and with a whirlwind on the day of commotion.
15 Mfalme wao ataenda utumwani, yeye na maafisa wake pamoja,” asema Yahwe.
And Melchom will go into captivity, he and his leaders together, says the Lord.
