1 Lakini fahamu hili: katika siku za mwisho kutakuwa na nyakati ngumu.
Be sure of this, that in the last days difficult times will come.
2 kwa sababu watu watakuwa wenye kujipenda wenyewe, wenye kupenda fedha, wenye kujisifu, wenye majivuno, wenye dhihaka, wasiotii wazazi wao, wasiokuwa na shukurani na waovu.
People will be selfish, mercenary, boastful, haughty, and blasphemous; disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, impure,
3 Wasio na upendo wa asili, wasiotaka kuishi kwa amani na yeyote, wachonganishi, wasingiziaji, wasioweza kujizuia, wenye vurugu, wasiopenda mema.
incapable of affection, merciless, slanderous, wanting in self-control, brutal, careless of the right,
4 Watakuwa wasaliti, wakaidi, wenye kujipenda wenyewe na wapenda anasa kuliko kumpenda Mungu.
treacherous, reckless, and puffed up with pride; they will love pleasure more than they love God;
5 Kwa nje watakuwa na sura ya ucha Mungu, lakini wataikana nguvu yake. Jiepushe na watu hao.
and while they retain the outward form of religion, they will not allow it to influence them. Turn your back on such people as these.
6 Kwa kuwa baadhi yao ni wanaume wanaoingia kwenye familia za watu na kushawishi wanawake wajinga. Hawa ni wanawake waliojawa dhambi na wenye kuongozwa na tamaa za kila aina.
For among them are to be found those who creep into homes and captivate weak women – women who, loaded with sins, and slaves to all kinds of passions,
7 Wanawake hawa hujifunza siku zote, lakini kamwe hawawezi kuufikia ufahamu wa ile kweli.
are always learning, and yet never able to attain to a real knowledge of the truth.
8 Kama vile ambavyo Yane na Yambre walisimama kinyume na Musa. Kwa njia hii walimu hawa wa uongo husimama kinyume na kweli. Ni watu walioharibiwa katika fikira zao, wasiokubalika kuhusiana na imani.
Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so do these people, in their turn, oppose the truth. Their minds are corrupted, and, as regards the faith, they are utterly worthless.
9 Lakini hawataendelea mbali. Kwa kuwa upumbavu wao utawekwa wazi kwa watu wote, kama ulivyokuwa wa wale watu.
They will not, however, make further progress; for their wicked folly will be plain to everyone, just as the folly Jannes and Jambres was.
10 Lakini wewe umeyafuata mafundisho yangu, mwenendo wangu, makusudi yangu, imani yangu, uvumilivu wangu, upendo wangu na ustahimilivu wangu,
But you, Timothy, were a close observer of my teaching, my conduct, my purposes, my faith, my forbearance, my love, and my patient endurance,
11 mateso, maumivu na yaliyonipata kule Antiokia, Ikonio na Listra. Niliyavumilia mateso. Bwana aliniokoa katika yote hayo.
as well as of my persecutions, and of the sufferings which I met with at Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. You know what persecutions I underwent; and yet the Lord brought me safe out of all!
12 Wote wanaotaka kuishi katika maisha ya kumcha Mungu katika Kristo Yesu watateswa.
Yes, and all who aim at living a religious life in union with Christ Jesus will have to suffer persecution;
13 Watu waovu na wadanganyifu watazidi kuwa waovu zaidi. Watawapotosha wengine. Wao wenyewe wamepotoshwa.
but wicked people and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving others and deceived themselves.
14 Lakini wewe, dumu katika mambo uliyojifunza na kuyaamini kwa uthabiti. Kwa kuwa unajua umejifunza kwa nani.
You, however, must stand by what you learnt and accepted as true. You know who they were from whom you learnt it;
15 Unatambua ya kuwa tangu utotoni mwako uliyajua maandiko matakatifu. Haya yanaweza kukuhekimisha kwa ajili ya wokovu kwa njia ya imani katika kristo Yesu.
and that, from your childhood, you have known the sacred writings, which can give you the wisdom that, through belief in Christ Jesus, leads to salvation.
16 Kila andiko limetiwa pumzi na Mungu. Linafaa kwa mafundisho yenye faida, kwa kushawishi, kwa kurekebisha makosa, na kwa kufundishia katika haki.
All scripture is God-breathed: helpful for teaching, for refuting error, for giving guidance, and for training others in righteousness;
17 Hii ni kwamba mtu wa Mungu awe kamili, akiwa amepewa nyenzo zote kwa ajili ya kutenda kila kazi njema.
so that God’s people may be capable and equipped for good work of every kind.
