1 Daudi akamwimbia Yahwe maneno ya wimbo huu siku ile Yahwe alipomwokoa katika mkono wa adui zake wote na katika mkono wa Sauli.
And David spake unto Yahweh, the words of this song, in the day when Yahweh had rescued him, out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul;
2 Akaomba hivi, “Yahwe ni mwamba wangu, ngome yangu, aliyeniokoa.
and he said, —Yahweh, was my mountain crag and my stronghold, and my deliverer—mine;
3 Mungu ni mwamba wangu. Yeye ni kimbilio langu. Ngao yangu, pembe ya wokovu wangu, ngome yangu na kimbilio langu, aniokoaye na mabaya yote.
My God, was my rock, I sought refuge in him, —My shield, and my horn of salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, My Saviour! from violence, thou didst save me.
4 Nitamwita Yahwe, astahiliye kutukuzwa, nami nitaokolewa kutoka kwa adui zangu.
As one worthy to be praised, called I on Yahweh, —And, from my foes, was I saved.
5 Maana mawimbi ya mauti yalinizunguka, mafuriko ya maji ya uharibifu yakanishinda.
When the breakers of death had encompassed me, —the torrents of perdition, made me afraid, —
the meshes of hades, had surrounded me, —the snares of death had confronted me, (Sheol h7585)
7 Katika shida yangu nalimwita Yahwe; nilimwita Mungu wangu; akaisikia sauti yangu katika hekalu lake, na kilio changu cha msaada kikafika masikioni mwake.
In my distress, called I on Yahweh, Yea, unto my God, did I call, —and he hearkened, out of his temple, unto my voice, and, my cry for help, was in his ears!
8 Ndipo nchi ilipotikisika na kutetemeka. Misingi ya mbingu ikatetemeka na kutikiswa, kwa kuwa Mungu alikasirika.
Then did the earth shake and quake, the foundations of the heavens, were deeply moved, —yea they did shake, because he was angry,
9 Moshi ukatoka katika pua yake, na miale ya moto ikatoka katika kinywa chake. Makaa yakawashwa nayo.
There went up a smoke in his nostrils, and, a fire out of his mouth, devoured, —live coals, were kindled from it:
10 Alizifungua mbingu akashuka, na giza totoro lilikuwa chini ya miguu yake.
Then he stretched out the heavens, and came down, —and, thick gloom, was under his feet;
11 Alipanda juu ya kerubi na kuruka. Alionekana katika mawingu ya upepo.
Then he rode on a cherub, and flew, —and was seen on the wings of the wind;
12 Naye akalifanya giza kuwa hema kumzunguka, akakusanya mawingu makubwa ya mvua angani.
And made of the darkness around him, pavilions, —gathering of waters, clouds of vapours.
13 Makaa ya moto yalidondoka mbele zake kutoka katika radi.
Out of the brightness before him, were kindled live coals of fire;
14 Yahwe alishuka kutoka katika mbingu. Aliyejuu alipiga kelele.
Thunder from the heavens, did Yahweh give forth, —yea, the Highest, uttered his voice;
15 Alipiga mishale na kuwatawanya adui zake—miale ya radi na kuwasambaratisha.
And he sent forth arrows, and scattered them, —lightning, and confused them;
16 Kisha njia za maji zikaonekana; misingi ya dunia ikawa wazi katika kilio cha vita ya Yahweh, katika sauti za pumzi ya pua zake.
Then appeared the channels of the sea, were uncovered the foundations of the world, —at the rebuke of Yahweh, the blast of the breath of his nostrils;
17 Kutoka juu alifika chini; akanishikilia! Aliniondoa katika vilindi vya maji.
He sent from on high, he took me, —he drew me out of many waters;
18 Aliniokoa kutoka kwa adui zangu wenye nguvu, kwao walionichukia, kwa maana walikuwa na nguvu sana kwangu.
He rescued me from my foe, in his might, —from them who hated me, because they were too strong for me:
19 Walikuja kinyume changu siku ya shida yangu, lakini Yahwe alikuwa msaada wangu.
They confronted me, in the day of my necessity, —then became Yahweh my stay:
20 Pia aliniweka mahali panapo nafasi. Aliniokoa kwa kuwa alipendezwa nami.
And brought out, into a large place, even me, —he delivered me, because he delighted in me:
21 Yahwe amenituza kwa kipimo cha haki yangu; amenirejesha kwa kiwango cha usafi wa mikono yangu.
Yahweh rewarded me, according to my righteousness—according to the cleanness of my hands, he repaid me:
22 Kwa maana nimezishika njia za Yahwe na sijafanya uovu kwa kugeuka kutoka kwa Mungu.
For I had kept the ways of Yahweh, —and not broken away from my God;
23 Kwa kuwa maagizo yake yote ya haki yamekuwa mbele yangu; kwa kuwa sheria zake, sikujiepusha nazo.
For, all his regulations, were before me, —and, as for his statutes, I turned not from them.
24 Nimekuwa bila hatia mbele zake pia, na nimejiepusha na dhambi.
So became I blameless towards him, —and kept myself from mine iniquity:
25 Kwa hiyo Yahwe amenirejesha kwa kiasi cha uadilifu wangu, kwa kipimo cha usafi wangu mbele zake.
Yahweh therefore repaid me, according to my righteousness, —according to my pureness before his eyes.
26 Kwa mwaminifu, unajionesha kuwa mwaminifu; kwake asiye na hatia; unajionesha kuwa hauna hatia.
With the loving, thou didst show thyself loving, —with the blameless hero, thou didst show thyself blameless;
27 Kwa usafi unajionesha kuwa msafi, lakini kwa wakaidi unajionesha kuwa mkaidi.
With the pure, thou didst show thyself pure, —but, with the perverse, thou didst shew thyself ready to contend:
28 Unaokoa walioteswa, lakini macho yako ni kinyume cha wenye kiburi, unawashusha chini.
And, a patient people, thou didst save, —but, thine eyes, were on the lofty—thou layedst them low;
29 Kwa maana wewe ni taa yangu, Yahwe. Yahwe huangaza katika giza langu.
For, thou, wast my lamp, O Yahweh, —and, Yahweh, enlightened my darkness;
30 Maana kwa ajili yake ninaweza kupita vipingamizi; kwa msaada wa Mungu wangu naweza kuruka juu ya ukuta.
For, by thee, I ran through a troop, —by my God, I leapt over a wall.
31 Maana njia za Mungu ni kamilifu. Neno la Yahwe ni safi. Yeye ni ngao yao wanaomkimbilia.
As for God, blameless is his way, —the speech of Yahweh, hath been proved, a shield, he is to all who seek refuge in him.
32 Maana ni nani aliye Mungu isipokuwa Yahwe? Na ni nani aliyemwamba isipokuwa Mungu?
For who is a GOD, save Yahweh? and who a Rock, save our God?
33 Mungu ni kimbilio langu, na umwongoza katika njia yake mtu asiye na hatia.
GOD, is my fortress of strength, —and shewed to the blameless his way;
34 Huifanya myepesi miguu yangu kama kurungu na kuniweka katika vilima virefu.
Planting my feet like the hinds’, —yea, on my high places, he caused me to stand;
35 Huifundisha mikono yangu kwa vita, na viganja vyangu kupinda upinde wa shaba.
Teaching my hands, to war, —so that a bow of bronze was bent by mine arms;
36 Umenipa ngao ya wokovu wako, na matakwa yako yamenifanya mkuu.
Thus didst thou grant me, as a shield, thy salvation, —and, thy condescension, made me great.
37 Umeitengenezea miguu yangu nafasi chini yangu, hivyo miguu yangu haikujikwaa.
Thou didst widen my stepping-places, under me, —so that mine ankles faltered not:
38 Niliwafuatia adui zangu na kuwaangamiza. Sikurudi nyuma hadi walipoangamizwa.
I pursued my foes, and destroyed them, —and returned not, till they were consumed;
39 Niliwararua na kuwasambaratisha; hawawezi kuinuka. Wameanguka chini ya miguu yangu.
So I consumed them, and crushed them, and they rose not again, —thus fell they under my feet:
40 Unaweka nguvu ndani yangu kama mkanda kwa vita; unawaweka chini yangu wanaoinuka kinyume changu.
Thus didst thou gird me with strength, for the battle, —thou subduedst mine assailants under me:
41 Ulinipa migongo ya shingo za adui zangu; niliwaangamiza kabisa wale wanaonichukia.
And, as for my foes, thou didst give me their neck, —yea, them who hated me, that I might destroy them:
42 Walilia kwa msaada, lakini hakuna aliyewaokoa; walimlilia Yahwe, lakini hakuwajibu.
They cried out, but there was none to save, —unto Yahweh, but he answered them not.
43 Niliwaponda katika vipande kama mavumbi juu ya ardhi, niliwakanyaga kama matope mitaani.
Then did I beat them in pieces, like the dust of the earth, —like the clay of the lanes, did I crush them, stamp them down.
44 Umeniokoa pia kutoka katika mashutumu ya watu wangu. Umeniweka kama kichwa cha mataifa. Watu nisiowajua wananitumikia.
Thus didst thou rescue me from the contentions of my people, didst keep me to be the head of nations: —a people whom I had not known, served me;
45 Wageni walishurutishwa kuniinamia. Mara waliposikia kuhusu mimi, walinitii.
The sons of the foreigner, came cringing unto me, —at the hearing of the ear, they submitted to me, —
46 Wageni walikuja wakitetemeka kutoka katika ngome zao.
The sons of the foreigner, were disheartened, and came quaking, out of their fortresses.
47 Yahwe anaishi! Mwamba wangu atukuzwe. Mungu na ainuliwe, mwamba wa wokovu wangu.
Yahweh liveth, and blessed be my rock, —and exalted be the God (of the rock) of my salvation: —
48 Huyu ndiye Mungu anilipiaye kisasi, awawekaye watu chini yangu.
The GOD who hath avenged me, and brought down peoples under me;
49 Uniweka huru mbali na adui zangu. Hakika, uliniinua juu yao walioinuka kinyume changu. Uliniokoa kutoka kwa watu wenye ghasia.
And brought me forth from among my foes, —yea, from mine assailants, hast thou set me on high, from the man of violence, hast thou delivered me.
50 Kwa hiyo nitakushukuru, Yahwe, kati ya mataifa; nitaliimbia sifa jina lako.
For this cause, will I praise thee, O Yahweh, among the nations, —and, to thy name, will I touch the strings: —
51 Mungu hutoa ushindi mkuu kwa mfalme wake, na uonesha uaminifu wake wa kiagano kwa mtiwa mafuta wake, kwa Daudi na uzao wake daima.”
Who hath made great the victories of his King, —and shown lovingkindness to his Anointed One, to David and to his Seed, unto times age-abiding.
