1 Yehoshafati akalala pamoja na babu zake na akizikwa pamoaja nao katika mji wa Daudi;
And Josaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Joran his son reigned in his stead.
2 Yehoramu, mwanaye, akawa mfalme katika nafasi yake. Yehoramu alikuwa na ndugu, wana wa Yehoshafati: Azaria, Yerieli, Zekaria, Azaria, Mikaeli, na Shefatia. Wote hawa walikuwa wana wa Yehoshafati, mfalme wa Israeli.
And he had brothers, the six sons of Josaphat, Azarias, and Jeiel, and Zacharias, and Azarias, and Michael, and Zaphatias: all these [were] the sons of Josaphat king of Juda.
3 Baba yao alikuwa amewapa zawadi kubwa ya fedha, dhahabu, na vitu vingine vya thamani, na miji yenye ngome katika Yuda, lakini kiti cha enzi alimpa Yehoramu, kwa sababu alikuwa mzaliwa wake wa kwanza.
And their father gave them many gifts, silver, and gold, and arms, together with fortified cities in Juda: but he gave the kingdom to Joram, for he [was] the firstborn.
4 Sasa Yehoramu alipokuwa ameinuka katika ufalme wa baba yake na kujiimarisha mwenyewe kama mfalme, akawaua ndugu zake wote kwa upanga, na pia viongizi wengine mbali mbali wa Israeli.
And Joram entered upon his kingdom, and strengthened himself, and killed all his brothers with the sword, and [some] of the princes of Israel.
5 Yehoramu alikuwa na umri wa mika thelathini na mbili alipoanza kutawala, na akatawala kwa miaka minane katika Yerusalemu.
When he was thirty and two years old, Joram succeeded to his kingdom, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
6 Akatembea katika njia za wafalme wa Israeli, kama nyumba ya Ahabu ilivyokuwa ikifanya, kwa maana alikuwa na binti Ahabu kama mke wake, na akafanya yaliyo maovu katika macho ya Yahwe.
And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Achaab; for a daughter of Achaab was his wife: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord:
7 Vile vile, Yahwe hakutaka kuiangamiza nyumba ya Daudi, kwa sababu ya agano ambalo alikuwa amefanya na Daudi; alikuwa ameahidi kwamba siku zote angetoa uzima kwa ajili yake na kwa ajili ya vizazi vyake.
nevertheless the Lord would not utterly destroy the house of David, because of the covenant which he made with David, and as he said to him that he would give a light to him and his sons for ever.
8 Katika siku za Yehoramu, Edomu wakaasi wasiwe chini ya Yuda, na wakajisimamishia mfalme juu yao.
In those days Edom revolted from Juda, and they made a king over themselves.
9 Kisha Yeroboamu akavuka ng'ambo pamoja na maakida na magari yake yote. Ilikuwa usiku aliposimama na kupigana dhidi ya Waedomu ambao walikuwa wamemzunguka na maakida wa magari yake.
And Joram went with the princes, and all the cavalry with him: and it came to pass that he arose by night, and struck Edom that compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots, and the people fled to their tents.
10 Kwa hiyo Edomu iliasi kutoka kuwa chini ya Yuda mpaka leo. Libna pia aliasi wakati ule ule wasiwe chini yake. Kwa sababu Yehoramu alikuwa amemsahau Yahwe, Mungu wa babu zake.
And Edom revolted from Juda until this day. Then Lomna at that time revolted from [under] his hand, because he forsook the Lord God of his fathers.
11 Zaidi ya hayo, Yehoramu pia alikuwa amezijenga sehemu zake za juu katika milma ya Yuda na akawafanya wakaaji wa Yuda kuishi kama makahaba, na akawaongoza Yuda katika upotevu.
For he built high places in the cities of Juda, and caused the dwellers in Jerusalem to go a-whoring, and led Juda astray.
12 Barua kutoka kwa nabii Eliya ikaja kwa Yerohamu. Ilisema, “Hivi ndivyo Yahwe, Mungu wa Daudi, babu yako, anasema: Kwa sababu hujatembea katika njia za Yehoshafafati, baba yako, wala katika njia za Asa, mfalme wa Yuda,
And there came to him [a message] in writing from Eliu the prophet, saying, Thus says the Lord God of your father David, Because you have not walked in the way of your father Josaphat, nor in the ways of Asa king of Juda,
13 bali umetembea katika njia za wafalme wa Israeli, na umewafanya Yuda na wakaaji wa Yerusalemu kuenenda kama kahaba, kama nyumba ya Ahabu walivyofanya—na kwa sababu pia umewaua ndugu zako katika familia ya baba yako kwa upanga, watu waliokuwa bora kuliko wewe mwenyewe—
but have walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and have caused Juda and the dwellers in Jerusalem to go a-whoring, as the house of Achaab caused [Israel] to go a-whoring, and you have slain your brethren, the sons of your father, who were better than yourself;
14 ona, Yahwe atawapiga watu wako na pigo kubwa, watoto wako, wake zako, na mali zako zote.
behold, the Lord shall strike you with a great plague among your people, and your sons, and your wives, and all your store:
15 Wewe mwenyewe utakuwa na ugonjwa mwingi kwa sababu ya ugonjwa kataika katika utumbo wako, mpaka utumbo wako uanguke nje kwa sababu ya ugonjwa, siku baada ya siku.
and you [shall be afflicted] with a grievous disease, with a disease of the bowels, until your bowels shall fall out day by day with the sickness.
16 Yahwe akaichochea roho ya Wafilisiti dhidi ya Yuda na ya Waarabu waliokuwa karibu na Waethipia.
So the Lord stirred up the Philistines against Joram, and the Arabians, and those who bordered on the Aethiopians:
17 Wakaivamia Yuda, wakavamia katika nyumba ya mfalme. Pia wakawachukua wanaye na wake zake. Hakuna mwana aliyebakizwa kwa ajili yake ispokuwa, Yehoshafati, mwanaye mdogo.
and they went up against Juda, and prevailed against them, and took away all the store which they found in the house of the king, and his sons, and his daughters; and there was no son left to him but Ochozias the youngest of his sons.
18 Baada ya haya yote, Yahwe akampiga katika utumbo wake kwa ugonjwa usiopona.
And after all these things the Lord struck him in the bowels with an incurable disease.
19 Ikawa wakati ulipofika, katika mwisho wa miaka miwili, kwamba utumbo wake ukaaanguka nje kwa sababu ya ugonjwa wake, na kwamba akafa kwa ugonjwa mkali. Watu wake hawakutengeneza moto kwa ajili ya heshima yake kama walivyokuwa wamefanyia babu zake.
And it continued from day to day: and when the time of the days came [to] two years, his bowels fell out with the disease, and he died by a grievous distemper: and his people performed no funeral, like the funeral of his fathers.
20 Alikuwa ameanza kutawala alipokuwa na umrai wa miaka thelatahini na mbaili; akatawala katika Israeli kwa miaka minane, na alikufa bila kuaombolezwa. Wakamzika katika mji wa Daudi, lakini siyo katika makaburi ya kifalme.
He was thirty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem. And he departed without honor, and was buried in the city of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.
