2 Nyakati 20
1 Ikawa baada ya hayo, kwamba watu wa Moabu na Amoni, na pamoja na baadhi ya Wameuni wakaja juu ya Yehoshafati ili kupigana vita. (Mandishi, “baadhi ya Wameuni” yanatoa masahihisho kwa ajili ya maandishi ya Kiebrania, ambayo yanasomeka, “baadhi ya Waamoni”. Inadhaniwa kwamba “Wameuni” ndilo neno la asili, na wenye kunukuu walilibadili kuwa “baadhi ya Waamoni”. Lakaini jina hili la mwisho halileti maana, kwa sababu Waamoni tayari wamekwisha tajwa katika mstri huu. Vile vile, matoleo tofauti tofauti yanajihusha na tatizo hili katika namna mabli mbali)
And it was after this they came [the] people of Moab and [the] people of Ammon and with them - some of the Ammonites on Jehoshaphat for battle.
2 Kisha baadhi ya watu wakaja wakamwambia Yehoshafati, wakisema, “Umati mkubwa wanakuja juu yako ng'ambo ya Bahari iliyokufa, kutoka Edomu. Ona, wako Hason- tamari”, ambayo ndiyo En-gedi. (Badala ya “Edomu” baadhi ya matoleo ya zamani na ya kisasa yanasomeka, “Aramu.”
And people came and they told to Jehoshaphat saying [is] coming on you a multitude great from [the] other side of the sea from Aram and there they [are] in Hazezon Tamar it [is] En Gedi.
3 Yehoshafati akaogopa na akajipanga kumtafuta Yahwe. Akatangaza haraka katika Yuda yote.
And he was afraid and he gave Jehoshaphat face his to seek Yahweh and he proclaimed a fast over all Judah.
4 Yuda wakakakusanyika pamoja kwa ajili ya kumtafuta Yahwe; wakaja kutoka miji yote ya Yuda kwa ajili ya kumtafauta Yahwe.
And they gathered Judah to seek from Yahweh also from all [the] cities of Judah they came to seek Yahweh.
5 Yehoshafati akasimama katika kusanyiko la Yuda na Yerusalemu, kwenye nyumba ya Yahwe, mbele ya kibaraza kipya.
And he stood Jehoshaphat in [the] assembly of Judah and Jerusalem in [the] house of Yahweh before the courtyard new.
6 Akasema, “Yahwe, Mungu wa babau zetu, hauko mbinguni? Wewe siyo mtawala juu ya falame zote za mataiafa? Nguvu na uweza viko mkononi mwako, kwa hiyao hakuna anayeweza akukupinga wewe.
And he said O Yahweh [the] God of ancestors our ¿ not [are] you he God in the heavens and you [are] ruler over all [the] kingdoms of the nations and [are] in hand your power and strength and there not [is] with you to hold ground.
7 Munagu wetu, Hukuwafuaakuja nje wakaaji wa nchi hii mbe ya watau watau wakop Israeli, na kuitoa milele kwa ajili ya uzaoa wa Abrahamu?
¿ Not - you O God our did you dispossess [the] inhabitants of the land this from to before people your Israel and you gave it to [the] offspring of Abraham friend your for ever.
8 Wakaishi ndani yake na kujenga sehemu takatifu kwa ajili ya jina lako, wakisema,
And they have dwelt in it and they have built for you - in it a sanctuary for name your saying.
9 'Ikiwa janga litakuja juu yetu —upanga, hukumu, au ugonjwa, au njaa—tutasimama mbele ya nyumba hii, na mbele zako (kwa maana jina lako limo ndani ya nyumba hii), na tutakulilia wewe katika mateso yetu, na utatusikia na kutuokoa.' (Badala ya “hukumu” baadhi ya maandiko ya zamani yanasema “mafuriko”).
If it will come on us calamity sword judgment and pestilence and famine we will stand before the house this and before you for name your [is] in the house this so we may cry out to you from distress our so you may hear and you may save.
10 Tazama sasa, hapa kuna watu wa Amoni, Moabu, na wa Mlima Seiri ambao hukuwaacha Israeli wawapige waalipotoka nchi ya Misri; badala yake, Israeli waliwageukia mbali na hawakuwaangamiza.
And therefore here! [the] people of Ammon and Moab and [the] mountain of Seir which not you permitted to Israel to go in them when came they from [the] land of Egypt for they turned aside from on them and not they destroyed them.
11 Ona jinsi wanavyotuzawadia; wanakuja kutotoa nje ya nchi yako mbayo umetupa kuirithi.
And here! they [are] repaying to us by coming to drive out us from possession your which you caused to possess us.
12 Mungu wetu, hutawahukumu? Kwa maana hatuna nguvu dhidi ya hili jeshi kubwa ambalo linakuja juu yetu. hatujui cha kufanya, lakini macho yetu yako kwako.
O God our ¿ not will you enter into judgment on them for there not in us [is] strength before the multitude great this which is coming on us and we not we know what? will we do for [are] on you eyes our.
13 Yuda wote wakasimama mbele ya Yahwe, pamoja na wadogo wao, wake, na watoto.
(And all *LAB(h)*) Judah [were] standing before Yahweh also little one[s] their wives their and children their.
14 Kisha kati kati ya kusanyiko, roho ya Yahwe ikaja juu ya Yahazieli, mwana wa Zekaria, mwana wa Benaya, mwana wa Yeieli, mwana wa Matania, mwana, Mlawi, mmoja wa wana wa Asafu.
And Jahaziel [the] son of Zechariah [the] son of Benaiah [the] son of Jeiel [the] son of Mattaniah the Levite one of [the] descendants of Asaph it was on him [the] spirit of Yahweh in [the] midst of the assembly.
15 Yahazieli akasema, “Sikilizeni, Yuda wote na ninyi wakaaji wa Yerusalemu, na Mfalme Yehoshafati. Hivi ndivyo Yahwe asemavyao kwenu, 'Msiogope: msivunjike moyo kwa sababu ya hili jeshsi kubwa, kwa maana vita siyo yenu, bali ni ya Mungu.
And he said pay attention O all Judah and [the] inhabitants of Jerusalem and the king Jehoshaphat thus he says Yahweh to you O you may not you be afraid and may not you be dismayed because of the multitude great this for not [belongs] to you the battle for to God.
16 Lazima muende chini juu ya yao kesho, Ona, wanakuja wakipanda kupia njia ya Sisi. Mtawakuta mwishono mwa bondo, mbele ya jangwa la Yerueli.
Tomorrow go down on them there they [will be] coming up on [the] ascent of Ziz and you will find them at [the] end of the wadi [the] face of [the] wilderness of Jeruel.
17 Hamtahitaji kupigana katika vita hii. Simameni katika nafasi zenu, simameni wima, na muone wokovu wa Yahwe pamoja nanyi, Yuda na Yerusalemu. Msiogope wala kukata tamaa. Tokeni nje juu yao kesho, kwa maana yuko pamoja nanyi.”
Not [belongs] to you to fight in this [battle] take your stand stand and see [the] victory of Yahweh with you O Judah and Jerusalem may not you be afraid and may not you be dismayed tomorrow go out before them and Yahweh [will be] with you.
18 Yehoshafati akainamisha kichwa chake pamaoja na uso wake chini. Yuda wote na wakaaji wa Yerusalemu wakaanguka chini mbele za Yahwe, wakimwabudu yeye.
And he bowed low Jehoshaphat face [the] ground towards and all Judah and [the] inhabitants of Jerusalem they fell down before Yahweh to bow down to Yahweh.
19 Walawi, wale wa uzao wa Wakohathi na wa uzao wa Wakorahi, wakasimama juu kumsifu Yahwe, Mungu wa Israeli, kwa sauti kubwa sana.
And they stood the Levites of [the] descendants of the Kohathites and of [the] descendants of the Korahites to praise Yahweh [the] God of Israel with a voice great upwards.
20 Asubuhi mapema wakasimama na kwenda nje kwenye bonde la Tekoa. Walipokuwa wakienda nje, Yehoshafati akasimama na kusema, “Nisikilizeni, Yuda, na nnyi wakaaji wa Yerusalemu! Aminini katika Yahwe Mungu wenu, na mtasaidiwa. Aminini katika manabii zake, na mtafanikiwa.
And they rose early in the morning and they went out to [the] wilderness of Tekoa and when went out they he stood Jehoshaphat and he said listen to me O Judah and [the] inhabitants of Jerusalem trust in Yahweh God your so you may be established trust in prophets his and succeed.
21 Alipokuwa ameshauriana na watu, akawachagaua wale ambao wangemwimbia Yahwe na kumpa sifa kwa ajili ya utukufu wake mtakatifu, walipokuwa wakienda wakilitangulia jeshi, na kusema, “Mshukuruni Yahwe, kwa maana uaminifu wa aganao lake unadumu milele.”
And he consulted the people and he appointed [those who] sang to Yahweh and [those who] praised to adornment of holiness when went out before the [man] equipped and saying give thanks to Yahweh for [is] for ever covenant loyalty his.
22 Walipoanza kuimba na kusifu, Yahwe akapanga wanaume katika mavamizi juu ya watu wa Amoni, Moabu, na wa Mlima Seiri, ambao walikuwa wanakauja dhidi ya Yuda. Walishindwa.
And at [the] time [when] they began with a shout of joy and praise he set Yahweh - ambushers on [the] people of Ammon Moab and [the] mountain of Seir who were coming to Judah and they were defeated.
23 Kwa maana watu wa Aamoni na Moabu walisimama kupigana na wakaaji wa Mlima Seiri, ili kuwaua kabisa na kuwangamiza. Waliapokuwa wamemaliza kuwaangamiza wakaaji wa Mlima Seiri, wote wakasaidiana kuangamizana kila mmoja.
And they rose up [the] people of Ammon and Moab on [the] inhabitants of [the] mountain of Seir to totally destroy [them] and to destroy [them] and just as had finished they with [the] inhabitants of Seir they helped each on neighbor his to destruction.
24 Yuda walipokuwa katika sehemu hiyo wakiangalia jangwani, waliangalia nje juu ya jeshi. Tazama, walikuwa wamekufa, wameanguka chini; hakuna aliyekuwa amepona.
And Judah it came to the watchtower of the wilderness and they turned to the multitude and there they [were] corpses lying [the] ground towards and there not [was] an escaped remnant.
25 Yehoshafati na watu wake walipokuja kuchukua nyara kutoka kwa hao watu, walikuta miongoni mwao bidhaa nyingi, nguo, na johari za thamani, ambazo walizichukua kwa ajili yao wenyewe, nyingi kuliko uwezo wao wa kubeba. Iliwachukua siku tatu kusomba nyara hizo, zilikuwa nyingi sana. (Badala ya “miongoni mwao”, baadhi ya maandishi ya zamani na ya kisasa yanasema, “ng'ombe.” badala ya “nguo” baadhi ya maandiko ya kale na ya kisasa yanasema, “miili iliyokufa”).
And he went Jehoshaphat and people his to plunder booty their and they found among them to abundance and property and corpses and articles of precious things and they plundered for themselves to there not [was] carrying and they were days three plundering the booty for [was] much it.
26 Katika siku ya nne wakakusanyika katika bonde la Baraka, Huko wakamsifu Yaahwe, kwa hiyo jina la sehemu hiyo hata leo ni “Bonde la Baraka”.
And on the day fourth they assembled to [the] valley of Berachah for there they blessed Yahweh there-fore people have called [the] name of the place that [the] valley of Berachah until this day.
27 Kisha, wakarudi, kila mtu wa Yuda na Yerusalemu, na Yehoshafati katika uongozi wao, kwenda tena Yerusalemu kwa furaha, kwa maana Yahwe alikuwa amewafanya wafurahie juu ya adui zao.
And they turned back every man of Judah and Jerusalem and Jehoshaphat at head their to return to Jerusalem with joy for he had made rejoice them Yahweh from enemies their.
28 Wakaja Yerusalemu na kwenye nyumba ya Yahwe kwa vinanda, vinubi na matarumbeta.
And they came Jerusalem with lyres and with harps and with trumpets to [the] house of Yahweh.
29 Hofu ya Yahwe ikawa juu ya falme zote za mataifa waliposikia kwamba Yahwe amepigana dhidi ya adui wa Israeli.
And it was [the] dread of God on all [the] kingdoms of the lands when heard they that he had fought Yahweh with [the] enemies of Israel.
30 Kwa hiyo ufaleme wa Yehoshafati ulikuwa mtivu, kwa maana Mungu wake alimpa amani kuzungunga pande zake zote.
And it was at peace [the] kingdom of Jehoshaphat and he had given rest to him God his from round about.
31 Yehoshafati akatawala juu ya Yuda: Alikuwa na umri wa miaka thelathini na mitano alipoanza kutawala. Jina la mama yke aliitwa Azubahi, binti wa Shilhi.
And he reigned Jehoshaphat over Judah a son of thirty and five year[s] when became king he and twenty and five year[s] he reigned in Jerusalem and [the] name of mother his [was] Azubah [the] daughter of Shilhi.
32 Akatembea katika njia za Asa, baba yake; hakugeka popote kuziacha; akafanya yaliyo mema katika macaho ya Yahwe.
And he walked in [the] way of father his Asa and not he turned aside from it to do the right in [the] eyes of Yahweh.
33 Vile vile, sehemu za juu hazikuwa zimeondoshwa mbali. Watu walikuwa bado hawajaelekeza mioyo yao kwa Mungu wa babu zao.
Only the high places not they were removed and still the people not they directed heart their to [the] God of ancestors their.
34 Kwa mambo mengine kuhusu Yehoshafati, mwanzo na mwisho, tazama, yameandikwa katika historia ya kitabu cha wafalme wa Israeli.
And [the] rest of [the] matters of Jehoshaphat former and latter there they [are] written in [the] words of Jehu [the] son of Hanani which it was recorded on [the] scroll of [the] kings of Israel.
35 Baada ya hayo, Yehoshafati, mfalme wa Yuda, akapatana na Ahazia, mfalme wa Israeli, ambaye alitenda uovu mwingi.
And after this he made an alliance Jehoshaphat [the] king of Judah with Ahaziah [the] king of Israel he he acted wickedly to do.
36 Akapatana naye kujenga meli za kwenda Tarshishi; Wakazijenga meli hizo huko Esion-geberi.
And he allied himself with him to make ships to go Tarshish and they made ships in Ezion Geber.
37 Kisha Eliezeli, mwana wa Dadavahu wa Maresha, akatoa unabii juu ya Yehoshafati; akasema, “kwa sababu umepatana na Ahazia, Yahwe ameiharibu miradi yako.” Meli zilivunjika ili kwamba zisiweze kusafiri.
And he prophesied Eliezer [the] son of Dodavahu from Mareshah on Jehoshaphat saying as making alliance you with Ahaziah he will break Yahweh works your and they were broken ships and not they retained to go to Tarshish.
