1 Petro 4
1 Kwa hiyo, kwa kuwa Kristo aliteseka katika mwili, jivikeni silaha za nia ile ile. Yeye aliyeteseka katika mwili ameondokana na dhambi.
Since, then, Christ suffered in the flesh, do you also ever arm yourselves with the same mind (because he who has suffered in the flesh has done with sin),
2 Mtu huyu haendelei tena kuishi katika tamaa za mwili, bali kwa mapenzi ya Mungu, kwa maisha yake yaliyosalia.
so that in future you may not spend your life in the flesh according to men’s desires, but in the will of God.
3 Kwa kuwa muda uliopita umetosha kutenda mambo ambayo wamataifa wanataka kufanya- ufisadi, nia mbaya, ulevi, ulafi, sherehe za kipagani na ibada za sanamu zenye machukizo.
For the time past of life may suffice us to have worked the will of the Gentiles, when we spent our life in lasciviousness, lusts, hard drinking, revelry, banqueting, and abominable idol worship.
4 Wanafikiri ni ajabu mnapojiepusha kutenda mambo hayo pamoja nao, hivyo wananena maovu juu yenu.
They are astonished at this, that you do not run into the same excesses of profligacy as they do; and they speak evil of you.
5 Watatoa hesabu kwake aliye tayari kuhukumu walio hai na wafu.
But they must render account to Him who stands ready to judge the living and the dead.
6 Kwa kusudi hili injili ilihubiriwa kwao waliokwisha kufa, kwamba ijapokuwa walikwisha hukumiwa katika miili yao kama wanadamu, ili waweze kuishi kulingana na Mungu katika roho.
The gospel was preached for this cause to those who were dead also, that they might be judged according to men in flesh, but live according to God in spirit.
7 Mwisho wa mambo yote unakuja. Kwa hiyo, mwe na ufahamu ulio sahihi, na iweni na nia njema kwa ajili ya maombi yenu.
But the end of all things is close at hand; so be sober, watch and pray.
8 Kabla ya mambo yote, eweni na bidii katika upendo kwa kila mmoja, kwa kuwa upendo hautafuti kufunua dhambi za wengine.
Above everything have fervent love to one another; for love veils a multitude of sins.
9 Onyesheni ukarimu kwa kila mmoja bila kunung'unika.
Be hospitable to one another, without grudging.
10 Kama ambavyo kila mmoja wenu alivyopokea karama, itumieni katika kuhudumiana, kama wasimamizi wema wa karama nyingi zilizotolewa bure na Mungu.
Whatever the gifts which each has received, use them for one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
11 Kama mtu akiongea, na iwe kama mausia ya Mungu, na kama mtu akihudumu, na iwe kama uwezo aliopewa na Mungu, ili kwamba kwa kila jambo Mungu apate kutukuzwa kupitia Yesu Kristo. Utukufu na uweza vina Yeye milele na milele. Amina. (aiōn g165)
If any one preaches, let him always preach as one who utters God’s truth; if any one serves another, let it be with the strength which God supplies; so that in every way God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory and dominion for ever and ever, Amen. (aiōn g165)
12 Wapendwa, msihesabu jaribu ambalo huja kuwajaribu kama kitu kigeni, ingawa kuna kitu kigeni kilichokuwa kinatukia kwenu.
Do not think it strange, beloved, that a fiery ordeal has come to test you, as though some surprising thing had befallen you.
13 Lakini kwa kadri mnavyozidi kupata uzoefu wa mateso ya Kristo, furahini, ili kwamba mfurahi pia na kushangilia katika ufunuo wa utukufu wake.
But be glad in the degree in which you share in the sufferings of Christ; so that when his glory shall be revealed, you too may be glad with triumphant gladness.
14 Iwapo mmetukanwa kwa ajili ya jina la Kristo, mmebarikiwa, kwa sababu ya Roho wa utukufu na Roho wa Mungu anakaa juu yenu.
If you are being reproached for the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the spirit of glory and of God is resting upon you.
15 Lakini asiwepo yeyote mwenye kuteswa kama muuaji, mwizi, mtenda maovu, au ajishughulishaye na mambo ya wengine.
But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evil-doer, or as a spy upon other people’s business.
16 Lakini ikiwa mtu anateswa kama Mkristo, asione aibu, bali amtukuze Mungu katika jina hilo.
But if any man is suffering as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him ever glorify God in this Name.
17 Kwa kuwa wakati umefika kwa hukumu kuanzia katika nyumba ya Mungu. Na kama inaanzia kwetu, itakuwaje kwa wale wasioitii injili ya Mungu?
It is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it first begin with us, what shall be the end of those who are disobedient to the gospel?
18 Na kama “mwenye haki anaokolewa kupitia magumu, itakuwaje kwa mtu asiyehaki na mwenye dhambi?”
If the righteous man is scarcely saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
19 Kwa hiyo wote wanaoteseka kutokana na mapenzi ya Mungu wakabidhi nafsi zao kwa Muumba mwaminifu ili hali wakitenda mema.
So let those who are suffering according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well-doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
