1 Kwa hiyo Sulemani akaanza kulijenga hekalu. Hii ilikuwa mwaka wa 480 baada ya wana wa Israeli kutoka katika nchi ya Misri, katika mwaka wa nne wa utawala wa Sulemani huko Israeli, katika mwezi wa Ziv, ambao ndio mwezi wa pili.
And so it came to pass, in the four hundred and eightieth year, by the coming forth of the sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year (in the month of Zif, the same, being the second month) of the reign of Solomon over Israel, that he began to build the house unto Yahweh.
2 Hekalu ambalo mfalme Sulemani alimjengea BWANA lilikuwa na urefu wa mita 27, na upana wa mita 9, na kimo cha mita 13. 5.
Now, the house which King Solomon built unto Yahweh, was sixty cubits in length, and twenty in breadth, —and thirty cubits in height.
3 Na ukumbi uliokuwa mbele ya hekalu ulikuwa na urefu wa mita 9 na upana wa mita 4. 5 sawa na upana wa sehemu kuu ya hekalu.
And, the porch in front of the temple of the house, was twenty cubits in length, according to the breadth of the house, —ten cubits in breadth, in front of the house.
4 Lile hekalu alilitengenezea madirisha ambayo fremu zake kwa nje yalifanya yaonekane membamba kuliko ile sehemu ya ndani.
And he made to the house windows, with closed bars.
5 Na ukuta wa nyumba aliuzungushia vyumba kuzunguka pande zake, kushikamana na vyumba vya nje na vya ndani ya hekalu. Akajenga vyumba katika pande zote.
And he built—by the wall of the house—a gallery, round about, against the walls of the house, round about, both to the temple, and to the shrine, —and he made side chambers round about.
6 Kile chumba cha chini kilikuwa na upana wa mita 2. 3, kile cha kati kilikuwa na upana wa mita 2. 8. na kile cha tatu kilikuwa na upana wa mita 3. 2. upande wa nje akaupunguza ukuta wa nyumba pande zote, ili boriti zisishikamane ukutani mwa nyumba.
The, lowest gallery, was five cubits broad, and, the middle, six cubits broad, and, the third, seven cubits broad, —for he put, ledges, against the house round about, on the outer side, so as not to make fastenings in the walls of the house.
7 Hekalu lilijengwa kwa mawe yaliyokuwa yamechongwa chimboni. Hakuna nyundo, wala shoka au chombo chochote cha chuma kilisikika wakati hekalu lilipokuwa likjengwa.
Now, the house, when it was in building, with whole quarry-stones, was built, —neither hammer, nor axe, nor any tools of iron, was heard in the house, when it was in building.
8 Upande wa kusini wa hekalu kulikuwa na lango la chini, ambalo mtu hupanda kwa madaraja mpaka juu kwenye chumba cha kati, na kutoka chumba cha kati hadi chumba cha tatu.
The entrance of the lowest story, was on the right side of the house, —and, by winding stairs, went they up unto the middle [story], and, out of the middle, into, the third.
9 Kwa hiyo Sulemani akalijenga hekalu mpaka akalimaliza, akalifunika hekalu kwa boriti na mbao za mwerezi.
So he built the house, and finished it, —and ceiled the house with planks and beams of cedar;
10 Akajenga vyumba vya pembeni mwa hekalu, kila upande mita 2. 3 kwenda juu. Navyo vikaunganishwa na hekalu kwa mbao za mierezi.
and built the gallery against all the house, five cubits in height, —and so fastened the house, with timber of cedar.
11 Neno la BWANA likamjia Sulemani, likisema,
Then came the word of Yahweh unto Solomon, saying:
12 “Kuhusu hili hekalu ambalo unajenga, kama utatatembea katika maagizo yangu na kuhukumu kwa haki, na kutunza amri zangu na kuishi kwa hizo, ndipo ntakapozithibitisha ahadi zangu na wewe ambazo niliziahidi kwa baba yako Daudi.
Concerning this house, which thou art building, If thou wilt walk in my statutes, and, my regulations, wilt practise, and so observe all my commandments, by walking in them, Then will I establish my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father;
13 Nitaishi kati ya watu wa Israeli nami sitawatupa.”
and will make my habitation in the midst of the sons of Israel, —and will not forsake my people Israel.
14 Kwa hiyo Sulemani akalijenga hekalu mpaka akalimaliza.
Thus Solomon built the house, and finished it;
15 Kisha akajenga kuta za ndani za hekalu kwa mbao za mwerezi. Kuanzia sakafu ya hekalu hadi boriti za juu, kwa ndani akazifunika kwa miti, na akaifunika sakafu kwa mbao za miberoshi.
and he built the walls of the house on the inside, with boards of cedar, from the floor of the house, unto the cross-beams of the ceiling, he overlaid it with wood, on the inside, —and he overlaid the floor of the house with boards of fir.
16 Alijenga mita 9 ndani ya hekalu kwa mbao za miberoshi kutoka sakafuni hadi juu. Hiki ni chumba cha ndani, cha patakatifu sana.
And he built twenty cubits, at the hinder part of the house, with boards of cedar, from the floor as far as the cross-beams, —and he built it within, for a shrine, even for the holy of holies;
17 Ule ukumbu mkuu, ulikuwa mahali pakatifu amabao ulikuwa mbele ya patakatifu sana, ulikuwa wa mita 18. hapo kulikwa na mbao za mwerezi ndani ya hekalu, zilizokuwa zimechongwa kwa sura ya vibuyu na maua yaliyochanua.
but, forty cubits, was the house itself, —the same, was the temple, before the oracle.
18 Zote zilikuwa za mierezi kwa ndani. Hapakuonekana chochote ndani kilichokuwa kimetengenezwa kwa mawe.
And, the cedar for the house within, was carved with colocynths, and with festoons of flowers, —the whole, was cedar, there was no stone to be seen.
19 Sulemani alitengeneza kile chumba cha ndani kwa lengo la kuweka sanduku la agano la BWANA.
And, the shrine in the midst of the house within, made he ready, —for placing there, the ark of the covenant of Yahweh.
20 Kile chumba cha ndani kilikuwa na upana wa mita 9, na kimo cha mita 9. Sulemani alizifunika kuta kwa dhabahu na madhabahu aliifunika kwa mbao za mierezi.
And, the interior of the shrine, was twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits in height, and he overlaid it, with pure gold, —and overlaid the altar with cedar.
21 Sulemani alifunika ndani ya hekalu kwa dhahabu safi na akaweka mikufu ya dhahabu iliyopita mbele ya chumba cha ndani, na kulifunika eneo la mbele kwa dhabahu.
Thus then did Solomon overlay the house within, with pure gold, —and he drew chains of gold across the front of the shrine, and overlaid it with gold;
22 Akalisakafia kwa dhahabu eneo lote la ndani mpaka akamaliza hekalu lote. Pia akalisakafia kwa dhahabu madhahabu yote ya chumba cha ndani.
yea, all the house, overlaid he with gold, until he had made all the house into one whole, —even all the altar that was by the shrine, overlaid he with gold.
23 Sulemani akatengeneza makerubi mawili kwa mbao za mizeituni, kila moja lilikuwa na kimo cha mita 4. 5 kwa ajili ya chumba cha ndani.
And he made, within the shrine, two cherubim of wild olive wood, —ten cubits in height;
24 Bawa moja la kerubi wa kwanza lilikuwa na urefu wa mita 2. 3. Kwa hiyo kutoka ncha ya bawa moja hadi ncha ya bawa lingine kulikuwa na umbali wa mita 4. 5. Yule
and, five cubits, was the one wing of the cherub, and, five cubits, the second wing of the cherub, —ten cubits, from the one end of his wings unto the other end of his wings.
25 kerubi mwingine naye alikuwa na bawa lenye kipimo cha mita 4. 5 Makerubi hawa walikuwa wanafanana kwa umbo na kwa vipimo.
Ten cubits, also was the second cherub, —of one size and one shape, were the two cherubim.
26 Kimo cha kerubi mmoja kilikuwa mita 4. 5 na yule wa pili alikuwa hivyo hivyo.
The height of the one cherub, was ten cubits, —and, so, of the second cherub.
27 Sulemani aliwaweka hao kerubi kwenye chumba cha patakatifu sana. Bawa moja la kerubi lilikuwa limeenea kiasi kwamba bawa moja liligusa ukuta huu na bawa la yule wa pili nalo liligusa ukuta wa upande mwingine. Hayo mabawa yalikuwa yanakutana katikati ya chumba cha patakatifu sana.
And he placed the cherubim in the midst of the inner house, and the cherubim stretched forth their wings, —so that the wing of the one touched the [one] wall, and the wing of the other cherub, was touching the other wall, —and, their wings in the midst of the house, were touching, wing to wing.
28 Sulemani aliwafunika hao kerubi kwa dhahabu.
And he overlaid the cherubim with gold.
29 Akazinakshi kuta zote kwa sura za makerubi, miti ya mitende, na maua yaliyochanua, kwa vyumba vya nje na vya ndani.
And, all the walls of the house round about, carved he with figures of cherubim, and palm-trees, and festoons of flowers, —within and without.
30 Sulemani akalisakafia hekalu kwa dhahabu, kwa vyumba vyote vya ndani na vya nje.
Even the floor of the house, overlaid he with gold, —within and without.
31 Sulemani akatengeneza milango ya mbao za mizeituni kwenye lango la kuingia ndani. Aliweka vizingiti na miimo kwenye pande tano.
And, the entrance of the shrine, made he with doors, of wild olive-wood, the pillars and posts being a fifth.
32 Kwa hiyo akatengeneza na milango miwili ya mizeituni, na akainakshi kwa makerubi, na mitende, na maua yaliyochanua. Akasakafia kwa dhahabu na akatandaza dhahabu kwenye makerubi na kwenye mitende.
The two doors, also were of olive-wood, and he carved upon them carvings of cherubim, and palm-trees, and festoons of flowers, and overlaid them with gold, —yea he spread out, over the cherubim and over the palm-trees, the gold.
33 Kwa njia hii, akalitengenezea hekalu miimo miwili ya mbao za mizeituni yenye pande nne
So, also, made he for the entrance of the temple, with posts of wild olive-wood, —a fourth part.
34 na milango miwili ya mbao za mierezi. Zile mbao mbili za mlango mmoja zilikuwa zikijikunja na mbao mbili za mlango wa pili nazo zilikuwa zikijikunja pia.
And, the two doors, were of fir wood, —the two leaves of the one door, were folding, and, the two leaves of the other door, were folding.
35 Akazinakshi kwa makerubi, mitende, na maua yaliyochanua, na pia akazisakafia kwa dhahabu juu ya zile nakshi.
And he carved cherubim, and palm-trees, and festoons of flowers, and overlaid them with gold, smoothed out on the carved work.
36 Akalijengs Korido la ndani kwa safu tatu za mawe ya kuchongwa na safu moja ya mhimili wa mierezi.
And he built the inner court, with three rows of hewn stone, —and a row of beams of cedar.
37 Msingi wa hekalu ulijengwa katika mwaka wa nne, wa mwezi wa Ziv.
In the fourth year, was laid the foundation of the house of Yahweh, —in the month Zif;
38 Mwaka wa kumi na moja mwezi wa Buli, ambao ndio mwezi wa nane, sehemu zote za hekalu zilimalizika na sharti zake zote. Sulemani alilijenga hekalu kwa miaka saba.
and, in the eleventh year, in the month Bul—the same, is the eighth month, was the house finished, as to all the particulars thereof, and as to all the appointments thereof, —so then he built it in seven years.
