1 Yohana 5
1 Yeyote anayeamini kuwa Yesu ni Kristo amezaliwa na Mungu. Na yeyote ampendaye yeye ambaye ametoka kwa Baba pia huwapenda watoto wake.
Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ, has been begotten of God: and every one that loves him that begot, loves him also that is begotten of him.
2 Kwa hili twajua kwamba twawapenda watoto wa Mungu — tunapompenda Mungu na kutekeleza amri zake.
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
3 Hivi ndivyo tunavyompenda Mungu kwamba twazishika amri zake. Na amri zake ni nyepesi.
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments; and his commandments are not burdensome.
4 Kwa kuwa kila aliyezaliwa na Mungu huushinda ulimwengu. Na huu ndio ushindi wa kuushinda ulimwengu, imani yetu.
For whatever is begotten of God, overcomes the world; and this is the victorious principle that overcomes the world, even our faith.
5 Ni nani aliyeushinda ulimwengu? Ni yule aaminiye kwamba Yesu ni Mwana wa Mungu.
Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
6 Huyu ndiye aliyekuja kwa maji na damu- Yesu Kristo. Hakuja tu kwa maji bali kwa maji na damu.
This is he that came by water and by blood, Jesus the Christ; not by water only, but by water and by blood: and it is the Spirit that testifies, because the Spirit is truth.
7 Kwa kuwa kuna watatu washuhudiao:
For there are three that testify, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood;
8 Roho, maji na damu. Hawa watatu hukubaliana. (Zingatia: Maneno haya “Baba, Neno, na Roho Mtakatifu” hayaonekani katika nakala bora za kale).
and the three agree in one.
9 Kama tunaupokea ushuhuda wa wanadamu ushuhuda wa Mungu ni mkuu kuliko huo. Kwa kuwa ushuhuda wa Mungu ni huu- kwamba anao ushuhuda kuhusiana na Mwanawe.
If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater: for this is the testimony of God, which he has borne concerning his Son.
10 Yeye amwaminiye Mwana wa Mungu ana ushuhuda ndani yake mwenyewe. Na yeyote asiye mwamini Mungu amemfanya kuwa mwongo, kwa kuwa hakuuamini ushuhuda ambao Mungu ameuleta kuhusu Mwanawe.
He that believes on the Son of God has the testimony in himself: he that believes not God, has made him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony which God has borne concerning his Son.
11 Na ushuhuda ndio huu — kwamba Mungu alitupa uzima wa milele, na uzima huu umo ndani ya Mwanawe. (aiōnios g166)
And this is the testimony, that God has given us eternal life: and this life is in his Son. (aiōnios g166)
12 Aliye naye Mwana ana uzima. Asiyekuwa naye Mwana wa Mungu hana uzima.
He that has the Son, has life: he that has not the Son of God, has not life.
13 Nimewaandikia haya mweze kujua kwamba mnao uzima wa milele — ninyi mnaoamini katika jina la Mwana wa Mungu. (aiōnios g166)
I have written these things to you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God. (aiōnios g166)
14 Na huu ndio ujasiri tulionao mbele zake, kwamba kama tukiomba kitu chochote sawa sawa na mapenzi yake, hutusikia.
And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask any thing according to his will, he hears us.
15 Na kama tunajua kwamba hutusikia — chochote tumwombacho tunajua kwamba tunacho hicho tulichomwomba.
And if we know that he hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him.
16 Kama mtu amwonaye ndugu yake anatenda dhambi isiyopelekea kifo, yampasa kuomba na Mungu atampa uzima. Ninasema kwa wale ambao dhambi yao ni ile isiyopelekea kifo — Kuna dhambi ipelekeayo kifo — sisemi kwamba anapaswa kuomba kwa ajilli ya dhambi hiyo.
If any one see his brother sinning a sin not to death, he shall ask, and he will give him life for those who sin not to death. There is a sin to death: I do not say concerning this, that he should ask.
17 Uasi wote ni dhambi — lakini kuna dhambi isiyopelekea kifo.
All unrighteousness is sin; and there is a sin not to death.
18 Tunajua ya kuwa aliyezaliwa na Mungu hatendi dhambi. Bali aliyezaliwa na Mungu hutunzwa naye salama daima, na yule mwovu hawezi kumdhuru.
We know that whoever has been begotten of God, does not sin: but he that is begotten of God, keeps himself, and the wicked one touches him not.
19 Tunajua kuwa sisi ni wa Mungu na tunajua kwamba ulimwengu wote uko chini ya utawala wa yule mwovu.
We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the wicked one.
20 Lakini twajua kwamba Mwana wa Mungu amekuja na ametupatia ujuzi, kwamba tunamjua yeye aliye kweli na kwamba tumo ndani yake yeye aliye kweli, hata katika Mwanawe Yesu Kristo. Ni Mungu wa kweli na uzima wa milele. (aiōnios g166)
And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding, that we may know him that is true: and we are in him that is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and life eternal. (aiōnios g166)
21 Watoto wapenzi, jiepusheni na sanamu.
Little children, keep yourselves from idols.
