1 Yohana 4
1 Wapendwa, msiiamini kila roho, lakini zijaribuni roho muone kama zinatokana na Mungu, kwa sababu manabii wengi wa uongo wametokea duniani.
Beloved, do not believe every spirit. Instead, test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
2 Kwa hili mtamjua Roho wa Mungu - kila roho itakayokiri kuwa Yesu Kristo amekuja katika mwili ni ya Mungu,
By this you will know the Spirit of God—every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,
3 na kila roho isiyomkiri Yesu si ya Mungu. Hii ni roho ya mpinga kristo, ambayo mliyoisikia kuwa inakuja, na sasa tayari iko duniani.
and every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming, and now is already in the world.
4 Ninyi ni wa Mungu, watoto wapendwa, na mmekwisha washinda kwa sababu yeye aliye ndani yenu ni mkuu kuliko yeye aliye katika ulimwengu.
You are from God, dear children, and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
5 Wao ni wa ulimwengu, kwa hiyo wanachokisema ni cha ulimwengu, na ulimwengu unawasikiliza.
They are from the world; therefore what they say is from the world, and the world listens to them.
6 Sisi ni wa Mungu. Yeye amjuaye Mungu hutusikiliza sisi. Yeye asiye wa Mungu hawezi kutusikiliza. Katika hili tunajua roho wa kweli na roho wa uongo.
We are from God. Anyone who knows God listens to us. He who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
7 Wapendwa, tupendane sisi kwa sisi, kwa vile upendo ni wa Mungu, na kila mmoja apendaye amezaliwa na Mungu na kumjua Mungu.
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and everyone who loves is born from God and knows God.
8 Yeye asiyependa hamjui Mungu, kwa sababu Mungu ni upendo.
The person who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
9 Katika hili pendo la Mungu lilifunuliwa miongoni mwetu, kwamba Mungu alimtuma Mwanae wa pekee ulimwenguni ili tuishi kupitia yeye.
Because of this the love of God was revealed among us, that God has sent his only Son into the world so that we would live because of him.
10 Katika hili pendo, si kwamba tulimpenda Mungu, lakini yeye alitupenda, na akamtuma Mwanawe awe fidia ya dhambi zetu.
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and that he sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11 Wapendwa, ikiwa Mungu alitupenda sisi, vile vile tunapaswa kupendana sisi kwa sisi.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also should love one another.
12 Hakuna hata mmoja aliyemuona Mungu. Kama tukipendana sisi kwa sisi, Mungu anakaa ndani yetu na pendo lake limekamilika ndani yetu.
No one has ever seen God. If we love one another, God remains in us, and his love is perfected in us.
13 Katika hili tunajua kuwa tunakaa ndani yake na yeye ndani yetu, kwa sababu ametupa Roho wake.
By this we know that we remain in him and he in us, because he has given us some of his Spirit.
14 Na tumeona na kushuhudia kuwa Baba amemtuma Mwana kuwa mwokozi wa ulimwengu.
Also, we have seen and have borne witness that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.
15 Kila anayekiri kwamba Yesu ni Mwana wa Mungu, Mungu anakaa ndani yake na yeye ndani ya Mungu.
Whoever acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in him and he in God.
16 Na tunajua na kuamini upendo alio nao Mungu ndani yetu. Mungu ni pendo, na yeye anayekaa ndani ya upendo anakaa ndani ya Mungu, na Mungu hukaa ndani yake.
Also, we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and the one who remains in this love remains in God, and God remains in him.
17 Katika pendo hili limekwisha kamilishwa kati yetu, ili tuwe na ujasiri siku ya hukumu, kwa sababu kama yeye alivyo, na sisi ndivyo tulivyo katika ulimwenngu huu.
Because of this, this love has been made perfect among us, so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because as he is, just so are we in this world.
18 Hakuna hofu ndani ya pendo. Lakini pendo kamili huitupa hofu nje, kwa sababu hofu huhusiana na hukumu. Lakini yeye aogopaye hajakamilishwa katika pendo.
There is no fear in love. Instead, perfect love throws out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. But the one who fears has not been made perfect in love.
19 Tunapenda kwa sababu Mungu alitupenda kwanza.
We love because God first loved us.
20 Ikiwa mmoja atasema, “Nampenda Mungu” lakini anamchukia ndugu yake, ni mwongo. Kwa sababu asiyempenda ndugu yake, anayemuona, hawezi kumpenda Mungu ambaye hajamuona.
If anyone says, “I love God” but hates his brother, he is a liar. For the one who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.
21 Na hii ndiyo amri tuliyo nayo kutoka kwake: Yeyote ampendaye Mungu, anapaswa kumpenda ndugu yake pia.
Also, this is the commandment we have from him: Whoever loves God must also love his own brother.
