1 Uzao wa Yuda ulikuwa Peresi, Hesroni, Karmi, Huri, na Shobali.

the sons of Judah, Perez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal.

2 Shobali alikuwa baba wa Reaya. Reaya alikuwa baba wa Yahathi. Yahathi alikuwa baba wa Ahumai na Lahadi. Hawa walikuwa mababu wa koo za Wasorathi.

And, Reaiah son of Shobal, begat Jahath, and, Jahath, begat Ahumai, and Lahad. These, are the families of the Zorathites.

3 Hawa walikuwa mababu wa ukoo katika mji wa Etamu: Yezreeli, Ishma, na Idbashi. Babu yao alikuwa Haselelponi.

And, these, were the sons of Etam, Jezreel and Ishma, and Idbash, —and, the name of their sister, was Hazzelelponi;

4 Penueli alikuwa babu wa koo katika mji wa Gedori. Ezeri alikuwa muanzilishi wa koo katika Husha. Hawa walikuwa uzao wa Huri, mzaliwa wa kwanza wa Efrathi na muanzilishi wa Bethelehemu.

and Penuel the father of Gedor, and Ezer, the father of Hushah. These, are the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah, the father of Bethlehem.

5 Ashuri baba wa Tekoa alikuwa na wake wawili, Hela na Naara.

And, Ashhur the father of Tekoa, had two wives, —Helah, and Naarah.

6 Naara alimzalia Ahuzamu, Heferi, Temeni na Ahashtari. Hawa walikua wana wa Naara.

And Naarah bare him Ahuzzam and Hepher, and Temeni, and Haahashtari. These, were the sons of Naarah.

7 Wana wa Hela walikua Serethi, Ishari, Ethnani,

And, the sons of Helah, were Zereth, Izhar, and Ethnan.

8 na Kozi, alikua baba wa Anubu na Sobeba, na koo zilizotoka kwa Aharheli mwana wa Harumu.

And, Koz, begat Anub, and Zobebah, —and the families of Aharhel, the son of Harum.

9 Yabesi aliheshimika zaidi ya kaka zake. Mama yake alimuita Yabesi. Alisema, “Kwasababu nimemzaa katika huzuni.”

Now it came to pass that Jabez was more honourable than his brethren, —but, his mother, had called his name Jabez, ["he causes pain"] saying, Because I bare him with pain.

10 Yabesi akamuita Mungu wa Israeli na kusema, “Kama tu utanibariki mimi, ongeza mipaka yangu, na mkono wako ukuwa juu yangu. Ukifanya hivi utaninusuru na mabaya, ili kwamba niwe huru na huzuni!” Kwa hivyo Mungu akamjalia maombi yake.

So then Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldst, indeed bless, me, and enlarge my boundary, and that thy hand might be with me, —and that thou wouldst work [to deliver me] from evil, that it be not my pain. And God brought about that which he asked.

11 Kelubu kaka wa Shuha akawa baba wa Mehiri, aliyekuwa baba wa Eshtoni.

And, Chelub the brother of Shuhah, begat Mehir, the same, was the father of Eshton.

12 Eshtoni akawa baba wa Beth-Rafa, Pasea, na Tehina, ambaye alianzisha mji wa Nahashi. Hawa ni wanaume walioishi Reka.

And, Eshton, begat Beth-rapha, and Paseah, and Tehinnah, the father of Ir-nahash. These, are the men of Recah.

13 Wana wa Kenazi walikua Othinieli na Seraia. Wana wa Othinieli walikuwa Hathathi na Meonothai.

And, the sons of Kenaz, were Othniel, and Seraiah, —and, the sons of Othniel, Hathath.

14 Meonothai akawa baba wa Ofara, na Seraia akawa baba wa Yohabu, mwanzilishi wa Ge Harashimu, ambao watu wake walikua wahunzi.

And, Meonothai, begat Ophrah, —and, Seraiah, begat Joab, the father of Ge-harashim, for they were, craftsmen.

15 Wana wa Kalebu mwana wa Yefune walikua Iru, Ele na Namu. Wana wa Ela alikua Kenazi.

And, the sons of Caleb son of Jephunneh, were Iru, Elah, and Naam, —and the sons of Elah and Kenaz.

16 Wana wa Yehaleli walikua Zifi, Zifa, Tiriya, na Azareli.

And, the sons of Jehallelel, Ziph and Ziphah, Tiria, and Asarel.

17 Wana wa Ezra walikua Yetheri, Meredi, Eferi, na Yaloni.

And, the sons of Ezrah, Jether and Mered, and Epher and Jalon. And, these, are the sons of Bithia, daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered took, —and she conceived and bare Miriam and Shammai, and Ishbah, the father of Eshtemoa.

18 Mke wake Meredi wa Kimisri alimzalia Miriamu, Shamai, na Ishibahi, aliyekua baba wa Eshitemoa. Hawa walikua wana wa Bithia, binti wa Farao, ambaye Meredi alimuoa. Mke wa Kiyahudi wa Meredi alimzalia Yeredi, ambaye alikua baba wa Gedore; Heberi, aliyekua baba wa Soko; na Yekuthieli aliyekua baba wa Zanoa.

And, his wife, the Jewess, bare Jered the father of Gedor, and Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel, the father of Zanoah.

19 Kati ya watoto wawili wa mke wa Hodia, dada wa Nahamu, mmoja wao kawa baba wa Keila Mgarimite. Mwingine alikua Eshitemoa Mmakathite.

And, the sons of the wife of Hodiah, the sister of Naham, were the father of Keilah, the Garmite, —and Eshtemoa, the Maacathite.

20 Wana wa Shimoni walikua Amnoni, Rina, Beni Hanani, na Tilon. Wana wa Ishi walikua Zohethi na Beni Zoheti.

And, the sons of Shimon, Amnon, and Rinnah, Ben-hanan and Tilon. And, the sons of Ishi, Zoheth, and Ben-zoheth.

21 Uzao wa Shela mwana wa Yuda, Ulikua ni Eri baba wa Leka, Laada baba wa Maresha na koo za wafanyakazi wa kushona kule Beth Ashbea,

the sons of Shelah, the son of Judah, Er, the father of Lecah, and Laadah, the father of Mareshah, —and the families of the house of them that wrought fine linen, of the house of Ashbea;

and Jokim, and the men of Cozeba, and Joash, and Saraph who ruled for Moab, and Jashubi-lehem, —but, the records, are ancient.

They, were the potters and the inhabitants of Netaim, and Gederah, —with the king in his work, dwelt they there.

24 Uzao wa Simeoni ulikua Jamini, Jaribu, Zera, na Shauli.

The sons of Simeon, Nemuel, and Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, Shaul:

25 Shalumu alikua mwana wa Shauli, Mibisamu mwana wa Shalumu, na Mishima mwana wa Mibisamu.

Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son.

26 Ukoo wa Mishima ulikua Hamueli mwana wake, Zakuri mjukuu wake, na Shimei kitukuu chake.

And, the sons of Mishma, Hammuel his son, Zaccur his son, Shimei his son.

27 Shimei alikua na wana kumi na sita na mabinti sita. Kaka yake hakua na watoto wengi, Hivyo koo zao hazikuongezeka kwa idadi kubwa kama wato wa Yuda walivyoongezeka.

And, Shimei, had sixteen sons, and six daughters, but, his brethren, had not many children, —nor did, any of their family, multiply so much as the sons of Judah.

28 Waliishi Beasheba, Molada, na Hazari Shuali.

And they dwelt in Beer-sheba, and Moladah, and Hazar-shual;

29 Pia waliishi Bilha, Ezemu, Toladi,

and in Bilhah, and in Ezem, and in Tolad;

30 Bethueli, Horma, Zikilagi,

and in Bethuel, and in Hormah, and in Ziklag;

31 Bethi Markabothi, Hazari Susimi, Bethi Biri, na Shaaraimu. Hii ilikua miji yao mpaka utawala wa Daudi.

and in Beth-marcaboth, and in Hazar-susim, and in Beth-biri, and in Shaaraim. These, were their cities unto the reign of David.

32 Vijiji vyao vitano vilikua Etamu, Aini, Tocheni, na Ashani,

And, their villages, were Etam, and Ain, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan, —five cities;

33 pamoja na mipaka ya vijiji kwa umbali wa Baali. Haya yalikua makazi yao, na walitunza kumbukumbu za uzao wao.

and all their villages that were round about these cities, as far as Baal. These, were their habitations, and they had their own genealogical register.

34 Viongozi wa ukoo walikua Meshobabu, Yamileki, Yoshahi mwana wa Amazia,

And Meshobab, and Jamlech, and Joshah, the son of Amaziah;

35 Yoeli, Yehu mwana wa Yoshibia mwana wa Seraia mwana wa Asieli,

and Joel, —and Jehu, the son of Joshibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel:

36 Elioenai, Yaakoba, Yeshohaia, Asaia, Adieli, Yesimieli, Benaia,

and Elioenai, and Jaakobah, and Jeshohaiah, and Asaiah, and Adiel, and Jesimiel, and Benaiah:

37 na Ziza mwana wa Shifi mwana wa Aloni mwana wa Yedaia mwana wa Shimiri mwana wa Shemaia.

and Ziza, son of Shiphi, son of Allon, son of Jedaiah, son of Shimri, son of Shemaiah.

38 Hawa walio orodheshwa kwa majina walikua viongozi wa koo zao, na koo zao ziliongezeka sana.

These, introduced by their names, were leading men in their families. And, their ancestral house, brake forth exceedingly;

39 Walienda karibu na Gedori, mashariki mwa bonde, kutafuta malisho ya mifugo yao.

so they went to the entering in of Gerar, unto the east of the valley, —to seek pasture for their flocks;

40 Walipata malisho mengi na mazuri. Nchi ilikua tambarare, tulivu na ya amani. Wahamu waliishi hapo awali.

and they found pasture, fat and good, and, the land, was broad on both hands, and quiet, and secure, —for, of Ham, were the dwellers there aforetime.

41 Hao walio orodheshwa hapo kwa majina walikuja katika siku za Hezekia mfalme wa Yuda, na wakashambulia makazi ya Wahamu na Wameuni, ambao pia walikua hapo. Waliwaangamiza kabisa na kuishi hapo sababu walipata malisho kwa ajili ya mifugo yao.

But these written by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and smote their tents, and the Meunim who were found there, and devoted them, until this day, and dwelt in their stead, —for there was pasture for their flocks, there.

42 Wanaume mia tano wa kabila la Simeoni walienda katika mlima Seiri, na viongozi wao Pelatia, Nearia, Refaia, na Uzieli, wana wa Ishi.

And, some of them, of the sons of Simeon, went to Mount Seir, five hundred men, —with Pelatiah, and Neariah, and Rephaiah, and Uzziel, sons of Ishi, at their head;

43 Waliwashinda wakimbizi wa Waamaleki waliobakia, na wakaishi hapo hadi siku hii.

and they smote the remainder that had escaped, of the Amalekites, —and dwelt there—[as they have] unto this day.
