1 Kisha Hiramu mfalme wa Tire alituma wajumbe kwa Daudi, na miti ya mierezi, maseremala, na wajenzi. Walijenga nyumba kwa ajili yake.
Then sent Hiram the King of Tyrus messengers to Dauid, and cedar trees, with masons and carpenters to builde him an house.
2 Daudi alijua kuwa Yahweh alimfanya kuwa mfalme juu ya Waisraeli, na hivyo ufalme wake ulitukuzwa juu sana kwa ajili ya watu wa Israeli
Therefore Dauid knewe that the Lord had confirmed him King ouer Israel, and that his kingdome was lift vp on hie, because of his people Israel.
3 Ndani ya Yerusalemu, Daudi aliongeza wake, na akawa baba wa wana wengi na mabinti.
Also Dauid tooke moe wiues at Ierusalem, and Dauid begate moe sonnes and daughters.
4 Haya yalikuwa majina ya watoto waliozaliwa nae huko yerusalemu: Shammua, Shobabu, nathani, Solimoni,
And these are the names of the children which he had at Ierusalem, Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Salomon,
5 Ibhari, Elishama, Elpeleti,
And Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,
6 Noga, Nefegi, Jafia,
And Nogah, and Nepheg, and Iaphia,
7 Elishama, Beliada, na Elifeleti.
And Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.
8 Sasa tangu Wafilisti waliposikia Daudi amepakwa mafuta kama mfalme juu ya Waisraeli, wote walitoka nje kwenda kumtafuta. Lakini Daudi alisikia kuhusu hilo nae akaenda nje kinyume nao.
But when the Philistims heard that Dauid was anointed King ouer Israel, all the Philistims came vp to seeke Dauid. And when Dauid heard, he went out against them.
9 Sasa wafilisti walikuja na kufanya shambulio katika bonde la Refaimu.
And the Philistims came, and spred them selues in the valley of Rephaim.
10 Kisha Daudi akaomba msaada kwa Mungu. Akasema, “Je niwashambulie Wafilisti? Utanipa ushindi juu yao?” Yahweh akamwambia, “Shambulia, kwa uhakika nitawakabidhi kwako.”
Then Dauid asked counsel at God, saying, Shall I goe vp against the Philistims, and wilt thou deliuer them into mine hande? And the Lord saide vnto him, Goe vp: for I will deliuer them into thine hande.
11 Kwa hivyo wakaja Baali Perazimu na akawashinda. Akasema, “Yahweh kapasua maadui zangu kwa mkono wangu kama vile mpasuko wa mafuriko ya maji.” Hivyo jina la sehemu ile likawa Baali Perazimu.
So they came vp to Baal-perazim, and Dauid smote them there: and Dauid said, God hath deuided mine enemies with mine hande, as waters are deuided: therefore they called the name of that place, Baal-perazim.
12 Wafilisti walitelekeza miungu yao pale, na Daudi akatoa amri wateketezwe kwa moto.
And there they had left their gods: and Dauid said, Let them euen be burnt with fire.
13 Kisha Wafilisti wakavamia kwa mara nyingine tena.
Againe the Philistims came and spread them selues in the valley.
14 Hivyo Daudi akaomba msaada kwa Mungu tena. Mungu akamwambia, “Usiwashambulie kwa mbele, lakini wazunguke kwa nyuma yao na uwajie kupitia misitu ya balisamu.
And when Dauid asked againe counsell at God, God said to him, Thou shalt not goe vp after them, but turne away from them, that thou mayest come vpon them ouer against the mulberie trees.
15 Utakaposikia sauti ya wanajeshi wanatembea kwenye upepo uvumao kutoka juu ya miti ya balisamu, kisha shambulia kwa nguvu. Fanya hivyo kwasababu Mungu atakutangulia kwenda kuwashambulia majeshi ya wafilisti.”
And when thou hearest the noyse of one going in the toppes of the mulberie trees, then goe out to battel: for God is gone foorth before thee, to smite the hoste of the Philistims.
16 Hivyo Daudi alifanya kama Mungu alivyo muamuru. Aliwashinda jeshi la Wafilisti kutoka Gibeoni mpaka Gezeri.
So Dauid did as God had commanded him: and they smote the hoste of the Philistims from Gibeon euen to Gezer.
17 Kisha umaarufu wa Daudi ukaenda katika nchi zote, na Yahweh akasababisha mataifa yote kumuhofia.
And the fame of Dauid went out into all landes, and the Lord brought the feare of him vpon all nations.
