1 Utenzi wa Ethani Mwezrahi. Nitaimba juu ya upendo mkuu wa Bwana milele; kwa kinywa changu nitajulisha uaminifu wako ujulikane kwa vizazi vyote.
An Instructive Psalm, by Ethan the Ezrahite. The lovingkindnesses of Yahweh, age-abidingly will I sing, To generation after generation, will I make known thy faithfulness with my mouth.
2 Nitatangaza kuwa upendo wako unasimama imara milele na uaminifu wako umeuthibitisha mbinguni.
For I said, To times age-abiding, shall lovingkindness be built up, As for the heavens, thou wilt establish thy faithfulness therein.
3 Ulisema, “Nimefanya agano na mteule wangu, nimemwapia mtumishi wangu Daudi,
I have solemnised a covenant, for my chosen one, I have sworn unto David my servant:
4 ‘Nitaimarisha uzao wako milele na kudumisha ufalme wako kwa vizazi vyote.’”
Unto times age-abiding, will I establish thy seed, And will build up, unto generation after generation, thy throne. (Selah)
5 Ee Bwana, mbingu zinayasifu maajabu yako, uaminifu wako pia katika kusanyiko la watakatifu.
So shall the heavens praise thy wondrousness, O Yahweh, —Yea, thy faithfulness, in the convocation of holy ones.
6 Kwa kuwa ni nani katika mbingu anayeweza kulinganishwa na Bwana? Ni nani miongoni mwa viumbe vya mbinguni aliye kama Bwana?
For whom, in the skies, can one compare unto Yahweh? [Or] can one liken unto Yahweh, among the sons of the mighty?
7 Katika kusanyiko la watakatifu, Mungu huogopwa sana, anahofiwa kuliko wote wanaomzunguka.
A GOD inspiring awe in the circle of the holy ones, exceedingly, And to be reverenced above all who are round about him.
8 Ee Bwana Mwenye Nguvu Zote, ni nani aliye kama wewe? Ee Bwana, wewe ni mwenye nguvu, na uaminifu wako unakuzunguka.
O Yahweh, God of hosts! Who, like thee, is mighty, O Yah! With thy faithfulness round about thee:
9 Wewe unatawala bahari yenye msukosuko; wakati mawimbi yake yanapoinuka, wewe unayatuliza.
Thou, rulest over the swelling of the sea, When the rolling waves thereof lift themselves, Thou, dost bid them be still:
10 Wewe ulimponda Rahabu kama mmojawapo wa waliochinjwa; kwa mkono wako wenye nguvu, uliwatawanya adui zako.
Thou, hast crushed—as one slain—Rahab, With thy strong arm, hast thou scattered thy foes.
11 Mbingu ni zako, nayo nchi pia ni yako, uliuwekea ulimwengu msingi pamoja na vyote vilivyomo.
Thine, are the heavens, Yea, thine, the earth, The world and the fulness thereof, Thou, didst found them;
12 Uliumba kaskazini na kusini; Tabori na Hermoni wanaliimbia jina lako kwa furaha.
The north and the south, Thou, didst create them, —Tabor and Hermon, with thy Name, shall shout for joy:
13 Mkono wako umejaa uwezo; mkono wako una nguvu, mkono wako wa kuume umetukuzwa.
Thine is an arm with might, Strong is thy hand, High is thy right hand;
14 Haki na hukumu ndio msingi wa kiti chako cha enzi; upendo na uaminifu vinakutangulia.
Righteousness and justice, are the establishing of thy throne, Lovingkindness and faithfulness, go before thy face.
15 Heri ni wale ambao wamejifunza kukusifu kwa shangwe, wanaotembea katika mwanga wa uwepo wako, Ee Bwana.
How happy are the people who know the joyful sound! O Yahweh! in the light of thy countenance, shall they firmly march along;
16 Wanashangilia katika jina lako mchana kutwa, wanafurahi katika haki yako.
In thy Name, shall they exult all the day, And, in thy righteousness, shall they be exalted.
17 Kwa kuwa wewe ni utukufu na nguvu yao, kwa wema wako unatukuza pembe yetu.
For, the beauty of their strength, thou art, And, in thine acceptance, shall our horns be exalted.
18 Naam, ngao yetu ni mali ya Bwana, na mfalme wetu mali ya Aliye Mtakatifu wa Israeli.
For, to Yahweh, belongeth our Shield, And, to the Holy One of Israel, belongeth our King.
19 Ulizungumza wakati fulani katika maono, kwa watu wako waaminifu, ukasema: “Nimeweka nguvu kwa shujaa, nimemwinua kijana miongoni mwa watu.
Then spakest thou in vision of thy men of lovingkindness, and saidst—I have laid help upon a mighty one, I have exalted one chosen from among the people;
20 Nimemwona Daudi, mtumishi wangu, na nimemtia mafuta yangu matakatifu.
I have found David my servant, With mine own holy oil, have I anointed him;
21 Kitanga changu kitamtegemeza, hakika mkono wangu utamtia nguvu.
With whom my hand shall be firm, Yea, mine arm, shall strengthen him;
22 Hakuna adui atakayemtoza ushuru, hakuna mtu mwovu atakayemwonea.
No foe shall make exactions on him, Nor shall, a son of perversity, humiliate him;
23 Nitawaponda adui zake mbele zake na kuwaangamiza watesi wake.
And I will shatter, from before him, his adversaries, And, them who hate him, will I smite;
24 Upendo wangu mkamilifu utakuwa pamoja naye, kwa Jina langu pembe yake itatukuzwa.
And, my faithfulness and my lovingkindness, shall be with him, And, in my Name, exalted shall be his horn;
25 Nitauweka mkono wake juu ya bahari, mkono wake wa kuume juu ya mito.
And I will set, in the sea, his hand, And, in the rivers, his right hand;
26 Naye ataniita kwa sauti, ‘Wewe ni Baba yangu, Mungu wangu, Mwamba na Mwokozi wangu.’
He, shall cry out unto me, My Father, thou art, My GOD, and my Rock of Salvation!
27 Nitamteua pia awe mzaliwa wangu wa kwanza, aliyetukuka kuliko wafalme wote wa dunia.
Yea, I, will appoint him, firstborn, Most High to the kings of the earth!
28 Nitadumisha upendo wangu kwake milele, na agano langu naye litakuwa imara.
Age-abidingly, will I keep for him my lovingkindness, And, my covenant, hath been made steadfast for him;
29 Nitaudumisha uzao wake milele, kiti chake cha enzi kama mbingu zinavyodumu.
Therefore will I appoint, to futurity, his seed, And his throne as the days of the heavens.
30 “Kama wanae wataacha amri yangu na wasifuate sheria zangu,
If his sons forsake my law, And, in my regulations, do not walk;
31 kama wakihalifu maagizo yangu na kutoshika amri zangu,
If, my statutes, they profane, And, my commandments, do not keep:
32 nitaadhibu dhambi yao kwa fimbo, uovu wao kwa kuwapiga,
Then will I punish, with a rod, their transgression; And, with stripes, their iniquity:
33 lakini sitauondoa upendo wangu kwake, wala sitausaliti uaminifu wangu kamwe.
But, my lovingkindness, will I not frustrate from them, Neither will I falsify my faithfulness;
34 Mimi sitavunja agano langu wala sitabadili lile ambalo midomo yangu imelitamka.
I will not violate my covenant, And that which hath proceeded out of my lips, will I not alter:
35 Mara moja na kwa milele, nimeapa kwa utakatifu wangu, nami sitamdanganya Daudi:
One thing, have I sworn by my holiness, Verily, to David, will I not lie;
36 kwamba uzao wake utaendelea milele, na kiti chake cha enzi kitadumu mbele zangu kama jua;
His seed, age-abidingly, shall remain, And, his throne, be like the sun before me;
37 kitaimarishwa milele kama mwezi, shahidi mwaminifu angani.”
Like the moon, shall it be established unto times age-abiding, And, a witness, in the skies, hath been made sure. (Selah)
38 Lakini wewe umemkataa, umemdharau, umemkasirikia sana mpakwa mafuta wako.
Yet, thou thyself, hast cast off, and rejected, Thou hast been wroth with thine Anointed One!
39 Umelikana agano lako na mtumishi wako, na umeinajisi taji yake mavumbini.
Thou hast cast down the covenant of thy Servant, Thou hast profaned, to the earth, his crown;
40 Umebomoa kuta zake zote, na ngome zake zote umezifanya kuwa magofu.
Thou hast broken down all his defenses, Thou hast laid his fortresses in ruins;
41 Wote wapitao karibu wamemnyangʼanya mali zake; amekuwa dharau kwa jirani zake.
All the passers by the way, have plundered him, He hath become a reproach to his neighbours;
42 Umeutukuza mkono wa kuume wa adui zake, umewafanya watesi wake wote washangilie.
Thou hast raised the right hand of his adversaries, Thou hast gladdened all his enemies;
43 Umegeuza makali ya upanga wake, na hukumpa msaada katika vita.
Yea thou hast turned the edge of his sword, Neither hast thou caused him to stand in the battle;
44 Umeikomesha fahari yake, na kukiangusha kiti chake cha enzi.
Thou hast brought to an end his splendour, And, his throne—to the ground, hast thou hurled;
45 Umezifupisha siku za ujana wake, umemfunika kwa vazi la aibu.
Thou hast shortened the days of his youths, —Thou hast covered him with shame. (Selah)
46 Hata lini, Ee Bwana? Utajificha milele? Ghadhabu yako itawaka kama moto hata lini?
How long, O Yahweh, Wilt thou hide thyself utterly? Shall thine indignation, burn like fire?
47 Kumbuka jinsi maisha yangu yanavyopita haraka. Ni kwa ubatili kiasi gani umemuumba mwanadamu!
Remember how short-lived, I, am, Wherefore, in vain, hast thou created all the sons of Adam?
48 Ni mtu gani awezaye kuishi na asione kifo, au kujiokoa mwenyewe kutoka nguvu za kaburi? (Sheol h7585)
Who is the man that shall live, and not see death? That can deliver his soul from the hand of hades. (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
49 Ee Bwana, uko wapi upendo wako mkuu wa mwanzoni, ambao katika uaminifu wako ulimwapia Daudi?
Where are thy former lovingkindnesses, O My Lord? Thou didst swear unto David, in thy faithfulness!
50 Bwana kumbuka jinsi mtumishi wako amesimangwa, jinsi ninavyovumilia moyoni mwangu dhihaka za mataifa yote,
Remember, O My Lord, the reproach of thy servants, I have carried in my bosom the insult of the peoples:
51 dhihaka ambazo kwazo adui zako wamenisimanga, Ee Bwana, ambazo kwazo wamesimanga kila hatua ya mpakwa mafuta wako.
In that thy foes have reproached, O Yahweh, In that they have reproached the footsteps of thine Anointed One!
52 Msifuni Bwana milele!
Blessed be Yahweh to times age-abiding, Amen, and Amen!
