Zaburi 8

1 Kwa mwimbishaji. Mtindo wa gitithi. Zaburi ya Daudi. Ee Bwana, Bwana wetu, tazama jinsi lilivyo tukufu jina lako duniani mwote! Umeuweka utukufu wako juu ya mbingu.

To the Overseer, 'On the Gittith.' A Psalm of David. Jehovah, our Lord, How honourable Thy name in all the earth! Who settest thine honour on the heavens.

2 Midomoni mwa watoto wachanga na wanyonyao umeamuru sifa, kwa sababu ya watesi wako, kumnyamazisha adui na mlipiza kisasi.

From the mouths of infants and sucklings Thou hast founded strength, Because of Thine adversaries, To still an enemy and a self-avenger.

3 Nikiziangalia mbingu zako, kazi ya vidole vyako, mwezi na nyota, ulizoziratibisha,

For I see Thy heavens, a work of Thy fingers, Moon and stars that Thou didst establish.

4 mwanadamu ni kitu gani hata unamfikiria, binadamu ni nani hata unamjali?

What [is] man that Thou rememberest him? The son of man that Thou inspectest him?

5 Umemfanya chini kidogo kuliko viumbe wa mbinguni, ukamvika taji ya utukufu na heshima.

And causest him to lack a little of Godhead, And with honour and majesty compassest him.

6 Umemfanya mtawala juu ya kazi za mikono yako; umeweka vitu vyote chini ya miguu yake.

Thou dost cause him to rule Over the works of Thy hands, All Thou hast placed under his feet.

7 Mifugo na makundi yote pia, naam, na wanyama wa kondeni,

Sheep and oxen, all of them, And also beasts of the field,

8 ndege wa angani na samaki wa baharini, naam, kila kiogeleacho katika njia za bahari.

Bird of the heavens, and fish of the sea, Passing through the paths of the seas!

9 Ee Bwana, Bwana wetu, tazama jinsi lilivyo tukufu jina lako duniani mwote!

Jehovah, our Lord, How honourable Thy name in all the earth!
