1 Mwimbieni Bwana kwa furaha, enyi wenye haki; kusifu kunawapasa wanyofu wa moyo.
Let those who do good shout for joy—those who live right should praise him!
2 Msifuni Bwana kwa kinubi, mwimbieni sifa kwa zeze la nyuzi kumi.
Praise the Lord with the lyre, play music to him on the ten-stringed harp.
3 Mwimbieni wimbo mpya; pigeni kwa ustadi, na mpaze sauti za shangwe.
Sing a new song to him; play your instruments well and shout for joy.
4 Maana neno la Bwana ni haki na kweli, ni mwaminifu kwa yote atendayo.
For the word of the Lord is true, and he is trustworthy in everything he does.
5 Bwana hupenda uadilifu na haki; dunia imejaa upendo wake usiokoma.
He loves all that is good and right; the earth is full of the Lord's trustworthy love.
6 Kwa neno la Bwana mbingu ziliumbwa, jeshi lao la angani kwa pumzi ya kinywa chake.
The Lord spoke the word and the heavens were made; his mouth breathed all the stars into existence.
7 Ameyakusanya maji ya bahari kama kwenye chungu; vilindi vya bahari ameviweka katika ghala.
He gathers the waters of the sea together, he keeps the ocean depths in store.
8 Dunia yote na imwogope Bwana, watu wote wa dunia wamche.
Let all the earth show reverence to the Lord; let all the world's inhabitants be in awe of him.
9 Kwa maana Mungu alisema, na ikawa, aliamuru na ikasimama imara.
For he spoke and the world came into existence; he gave the command and it was created.
10 Bwana huzuia mipango ya mataifa, hupinga makusudi ya mataifa.
The Lord foils the decisions of the nations, he frustrates the plans of the peoples,
11 Lakini mipango ya Bwana inasimama imara milele, makusudi ya moyo wake kwa vizazi vyote.
But the Lord's plan stands forever—what he decides lasts for all generations.
12 Heri taifa ambalo Bwana ni Mungu wao, watu ambao aliwachagua kuwa urithi wake.
Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he has chosen as specially belonging to him.
13 Kutoka mbinguni Bwana hutazama chini na kuwaona wanadamu wote;
The Lord looks from heaven and sees the whole of humanity,
14 kutoka maskani mwake huwaangalia wote wakaao duniani:
from his throne he watches all those who live on earth.
15 yeye ambaye huumba mioyo yao wote, ambaye huangalia kila kitu wanachokitenda.
He created their minds, so he knows everything they do.
16 Hakuna mfalme aokokaye kwa ukubwa wa jeshi lake; hakuna shujaa aokokaye kwa wingi wa nguvu zake.
Even the greatest army cannot save a king; the greatest strength cannot save a warrior.
17 Farasi ni tumaini la bure kwa wokovu, licha ya nguvu zake nyingi, hawezi kuokoa.
Don't deceive yourself: a warhorse can't give you victory—even its incredible strength won't save you.
18 Lakini macho ya Bwana yako kwa wale wamchao, kwa wale tumaini lao liko katika upendo wake usio na kikomo,
The Lord watches over those who reverently follow him, those who place their hope in his trustworthy love
19 ili awaokoe na mauti, na kuwahifadhi wakati wa njaa.
to save them from death and to keep them alive when famine strikes.
20 Sisi tunamngojea Bwana kwa matumaini, yeye ni msaada wetu na ngao yetu.
We place our confidence in the Lord; he is our help and our defender.
21 Mioyo yetu humshangilia, kwa maana tunalitumainia jina lake takatifu.
We are so happy about him, for we trust in his holy character.
22 Upendo wako usio na mwisho ukae juu yetu, Ee Bwana, tunapoliweka tumaini letu kwako.
Lord, let your trustworthy love rest upon us as we hope in you.
