1 Wimbo wa kwenda juu. Ninayainua macho yangu kwako, kwako wewe ambaye kiti chako cha enzi kiko mbinguni.

To thee do I lift up my eyes, O thou who sit in the heavens.

2 Kama vile macho ya watumwa yatazamavyo mkono wa bwana wao, kama vile macho ya mtumishi wa kike yatazamavyo mkono wa bibi yake, ndivyo macho yetu yamtazamavyo Bwana Mungu wetu, mpaka atakapotuhurumia.

Behold, as the eyes of servants to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes are to Jehovah our God, until he has mercy upon us.

3 Uturehemu, Ee Bwana, uturehemu, kwa maana tumevumilia dharau nyingi.

Have mercy upon us, O Jehovah, have mercy upon us, for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.

4 Tumevumilia dhihaka nyingi kutoka kwa wenye kiburi, dharau nyingi kutoka kwa wenye majivuno.

Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scoffing of those who are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.
