Mithali 2
1 Mwanangu, kama utayakubali maneno yangu na kuyaweka akiba maagizo yangu ndani mwako,
My sonne, if thou wilt receiue my wordes, and hide my commandements within thee,
2 kutega sikio lako kwenye hekima na kuweka moyo wako katika ufahamu,
And cause thine eares to hearken vnto wisdome, and encline thine heart to vnderstanding,
3 na kama ukiita busara na kuita kwa sauti ufahamu,
(For if thou callest after knowledge, and cryest for vnderstanding:
4 na kama utaitafuta kama fedha na kuitafuta sana kama hazina iliyofichwa,
If thou seekest her as siluer, and searchest for her as for treasures,
5 ndipo utakapoelewa kumcha Bwana na kupata maarifa ya Mungu.
Then shalt thou vnderstand the feare of the Lord, and finde the knowledge of God.
6 Kwa maana Bwana hutoa hekima, na kinywani mwake hutoka maarifa na ufahamu.
For the Lord giueth wisdome, out of his mouth commeth knowledge and vnderstanding.
7 Anahifadhi ushindi kwa ajili ya mwadilifu, yeye ni ngao kwa wale wasio na lawama,
He preserueth the state of the righteous: he is a shielde to them that walke vprightly,
8 kwa kuwa hulinda mwenendo wa mwenye haki na kuhifadhi njia ya waaminifu wake.
That they may keepe the wayes of iudgement: and he preserueth the way of his Saintes)
9 Ndipo utafahamu lipi lililo kweli na haki na sawa: yaani kila njia nzuri.
Then shalt thou vnderstand righteousnes, and iudgement, and equitie, and euery good path.
10 Kwa maana hekima itaingia moyoni mwako, nayo maarifa yataifurahisha nafsi yako.
When wisdome entreth into thine heart, and knowledge deliteth thy soule,
11 Busara itakuhifadhi na ufahamu utakulinda.
Then shall counsell preserue thee, and vnderstanding shall keepe thee,
12 Hekima itakuokoa kutoka njia za waovu, kutoka kwa watu ambao maneno yao yamepotoka,
And deliuer thee from the euill way, and from the man that speaketh froward things,
13 wale waachao mapito yaliyonyooka wakatembea katika njia za giza,
And from them that leaue the wayes of righteousnes to walke in the wayes of darkenes:
14 wale wapendao kutenda mabaya na kufurahia upotovu wa ubaya,
Which reioyce in doing euill, and delite in the frowardnesse of the wicked,
15 ambao mapito yao yamepotoka na ambao ni wapotovu katika njia zao.
Whose wayes are crooked and they are lewde in their paths.
16 Itakuokoa pia kutokana na mwanamke kahaba, kutokana na mke aliyepotoka mwenye maneno ya kushawishi kutenda ubaya,
And it shall deliuer thee from the strange woman, euen from the stranger, which flattereth with her wordes.
17 aliyemwacha mwenzi wa ujana wake na kupuuza agano alilofanya mbele ya Mungu.
Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the couenant of her God.
18 Kwa maana nyumba yake huelekea kwenye kifo na mapito yake kwenye roho za waliokufa.
Surely her house tendeth to death, and her paths vnto the dead.
19 Hakuna yeyote aendaye kwake akarudi, au kufikia mapito ya uzima.
All they that goe vnto her, returne not againe, neither take they holde of the wayes of life.
20 Hivyo utatembea katika njia za watu wema na kushikamana na mapito ya wenye haki.
Therefore walke thou in the way of good men, and keepe the wayes of the righteous.
21 Kwa maana wanyofu wataishi katika nchi, nao wasio na lawama watabakia ndani yake.
For the iust shall dwell in the land, and the vpright men shall remaine in it.
22 Bali waovu watakatiliwa mbali kutoka nchi, nao wasio waaminifu watangʼolewa kutoka humo.
But the wicked shalbe cut off from ye earth, and the transgressours shalbe rooted out of it.
