Obadia 1
1 Maono ya Obadia. Hili ndilo asemalo Bwana Mwenyezi kuhusu Edomu: Tumesikia ujumbe kutoka kwa Bwana: Mjumbe alitumwa kwa mataifa kusema, “Inukeni, twendeni tukapigane vita dhidi yake.”
The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning Edom; We have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.
2 “Angalieni, nitawafanya wadogo miongoni mwa mataifa, mtadharauliwa kabisa.
Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly despised.
3 Kiburi cha moyo wako kimekudanganya, wewe unayeishi katika majabali ya miamba na kufanya makao yako juu, wewe unayejiambia mwenyewe, ‘Ni nani awezaye kunishusha chini?’
The pride of thy heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?
4 Ingawa unapaa juu kama tai na kufanya kiota chako kati ya nyota, nitakushusha chini kutoka huko,” asema Bwana.
Though thou shalt exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou shalt set thy nest among the stars, from there will I bring thee down, saith the LORD.
5 “Ikiwa wevi wangekuja kwako, ikiwa wanyangʼanyi wangekujia usiku: Lo! Tazama ni maafa kiasi gani yangekuwa yanakungojea: je, si wangeiba tu kiasi ambacho wangehitaji? Kama wachuma zabibu wangekuja kwako, je, wasingebakiza zabibu chache?
If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou cut off!) would they not have stolen till they had enough? if the grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave some grapes?
6 Lakini tazama jinsi Esau atakavyotekwa, jinsi hazina zake zilizofichwa zitatekwa nyara!
How are the things of Esau searched out! how are his hidden things sought!
7 Wote ulioungana nao watakufukuza hadi mpakani, rafiki zako watakudanganya na kukushinda, wale wanaokula mkate wako watakutegea mtego, lakini hutaweza kuugundua.
All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee even to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; they that eat thy bread have laid a trap under thee: there is no understanding in him.
8 “Katika siku hiyo,” asema Bwana, “je, sitaangamiza watu wenye hekima wa Edomu, watu wenye ufahamu katika milima ya Esau?
Shall I not in that day, saith the LORD, even destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau?
9 Ee Temani, mashujaa wako watatiwa hofu, kila mmoja katika milima ya Esau ataangushwa chini kwa kuchinjwa.
And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one of the mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.
10 Kwa sababu ya jeuri uliyofanya dhidi ya ndugu yako Yakobo, aibu itakufunika; utaangamizwa milele.
For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.
11 Siku ile ulisimama mbali ukiangalia wakati wageni walipojichukulia utajiri wake na watu wa nchi nyingine walipoingia malango yake wakipiga kura kwa ajili ya Yerusalemu, ulikuwa kama mmoja wao.
In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them.
12 Usingemdharau ndugu yako katika siku ya msiba wake, wala kufurahia juu ya watu wa Yuda katika siku ya maangamizi yao, wala kujigamba sana katika siku ya taabu yao.
But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.
13 Usingeingia katika malango ya watu wangu katika siku ya maafa yao, wala kuwadharau katika janga lao katika siku ya maafa yao, wala kunyangʼanya mali zao katika siku ya maafa yao.
Thou shouldest not have entered into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; yea, thou shouldest not have looked on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid hands on their substance in the day of their calamity;
14 Usingengoja kwenye njia panda na kuwaua wakimbizi wao, wala kuwatoa watu wake waliosalia katika siku ya shida yao.
Neither shouldest thou have stood in the crossway, to cut off those of his that escaped; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that remained in the day of distress.
15 “Siku ya Bwana iko karibu kwa mataifa yote. Kama ulivyofanya, nawe utafanyiwa vivyo hivyo, matendo yako yatakurudia juu ya kichwa chako.
For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done to thee: thy reward shall return upon thy own head.
16 Kama vile ulivyokunywa juu ya mlima wangu mtakatifu, vivyo hivyo mataifa yote watakunywa mfululizo, watakunywa na kunywa, nao watatoweka kana kwamba hawajawahi kuwepo.
For as ye drank upon my holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.
17 Lakini katika Mlima Sayuni kutakuwepo na wale watakaookoka; nao utakuwa mtakatifu, nayo nyumba ya Yakobo itamiliki urithi wake.
But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.
18 Nyumba ya Yakobo itakuwa moto, na nyumba ya Yosefu itakuwa mwali wa moto; nayo nyumba ya Esau itakuwa bua kavu, nao wataiwasha moto na kuiteketeza. Hakutakuwa na watakaosalimika kutoka nyumba ya Esau.” Bwana amesema.
And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it.
19 Watu kutoka nchi ya Negebu wataikalia milima ya Esau, na watu kutoka miteremko ya vilima watamiliki nchi ya Wafilisti. Watayakalia mashamba ya Efraimu na Samaria, naye Benyamini atamiliki Gileadi.
And they of the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and they of the plain the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.
20 Kundi la Waisraeli walioko uhamishoni Kanaani watarudi na kumiliki nchi mpaka Sarepta. Walioko uhamishoni Sefaradi kutoka Yerusalemu watamiliki miji ya Negebu.
And the captives of this host of the children of Israel shall possess that of the Canaanites, even to Zarephath; and the captives of Jerusalem, which is in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south.
21 Waokoaji watakwea juu ya Mlima Sayuni kutawala milima ya Esau. Nao ufalme utakuwa wa Bwana.
And deliverers shall come upon mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD’S.
