1 Baada ya hiyo tauni, Bwana akamwambia Mose na Eleazari mwana wa kuhani Aroni,
And it came to pass, after the plague, that Yahweh spake unto Moses, and unto Eleazar son of Aaron the priest, saying:
2 “Hesabu jumuiya yote ya Kiisraeli kwa jamaa zao, wale wote wenye umri wa miaka ishirini na zaidi, ambao wanaweza kutumika katika jeshi la Israeli.”
Reckon ye up the sum of all the assembly of the sons of Israel from twenty years old and upwards, by their ancestral houses, —every one able to go forth to war in Israel.
3 Hivyo Mose na kuhani Eleazari wakazungumza na watu kwenye nchi tambarare ya Moabu, ngʼambo ya Yordani kutokea Yeriko, wakasema,
So then Moses and Eleazar the priest spake with them, in the waste plains of Moab, —by the Jordan near Jericho saying:
4 “Hesabuni wanaume wenye umri wa miaka ishirini na zaidi, kama Bwana alivyomwagiza Mose.” Hawa ndio Waisraeli waliotoka Misri:
From twenty years old and upwards, As Yahweh commanded Moses, and the sons of Israel, who had come forth out of the land of Egypt.
5 Wazao wa Reubeni, mwana mzaliwa wa kwanza wa Israeli, walikuwa: kutoka kwa Hanoki, ukoo wa Wahanoki; kutoka kwa Palu, ukoo wa Wapalu;
Reuben, the firstborn of Israel, —the sons of Reuben, To Hanoch, pertained the family of the Hanochites; To Pallu, the family of the Palluites;
6 kutoka kwa Hesroni, ukoo wa Wahesroni; kutoka kwa Karmi, ukoo wa Wakarmi.
To Hezron, the family of the Hezronites, —To Carmi, the family of the Carmites.
7 Hizi zilikuwa ndizo koo za Reubeni; wale waliohesabiwa walikuwa 43,730.
These, are the families of the Reubenites, —and they who were numbered of them were found to be—forty-three thousand, and seven hundred, and thirty.
8 Mwana wa Palu alikuwa Eliabu,
Now, the sons of Pallu, were Eliab;
9 nao wana wa Eliabu walikuwa Nemueli, Dathani na Abiramu. Hawa wawili Dathani na Abiramu ndio walikuwa maafisa wa jumuiya ambao walimwasi Mose na Aroni, na walikuwa miongoni mwa wafuasi wa Kora wakati walimwasi Bwana.
and the sons of Eliab, Nemuel, and Dathan and Abiram, —The same, Dathan and Abiram, notable men of the assembly, who contended against Moses and against Aaron in the assembly of Korah, when they contended against Yahweh;
10 Ardhi ilifunua kinywa chake na kuwameza pamoja na Kora, ambaye wafuasi wake walikufa wakati moto ulipowateketeza wanaume 250. Nao walikuwa kama alama ya onyo.
and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up—with Korah also, when the assembly died, —when the fire consumed two hundred and fifty men, and they became a warning;
11 Pamoja na hayo, hao ukoo wa Kora hawakufa.
But, the sons of Korah, died not.
12 Wazao wa Simeoni kwa koo zao walikuwa: kutoka kwa Nemueli, ukoo wa Wanemueli; kutoka kwa Yamini, ukoo wa Wayamini; kutoka wa Yakini, ukoo wa Wayakini;
The sons of Simeon, by their families, To Nemuel, pertained the family of the Nemuelites, To Jamin, the family of the Jaminites, —To Jachin, the family of the Jachinites:
13 kutoka kwa Zera, ukoo wa Wazera; kutoka kwa Shauli, ukoo wa Washauli.
To Zerah, the family of the Zerahites, —To Shaul, the family of the Shaulites:
14 Hizi ndizo koo za Simeoni; walikuwa 22,200.
These, are the families of the Simeonites, —two and twenty thousand and two hundred.
15 Wazao wa Gadi kwa koo zao walikuwa: kutoka kwa Sifoni, ukoo wa Wasifoni; kutoka kwa Hagi, ukoo wa Wahagi; kutoka kwa Shuni, ukoo wa Washuni;
The sons of Gad, by their families, To Zephon, pertained the family of the Zephonites; To Haggi, the family of the Haggites, —To Shuni, the family of the Shunites;
16 kutoka kwa Ozni, ukoo wa Waozni; kutoka kwa Eri, ukoo wa Waeri;
To Ozni, the family of the Oznites, —To Eri, the family of the Erites;
17 kutoka kwa Arodi, ukoo wa Waarodi; kutoka kwa Areli, ukoo wa Waareli.
To Arod, the family of the Arodites, —To Arelites, the family of the Arelites:
18 Hizi ndizo zilizokuwa koo za Gadi; wale waliohesabiwa walikuwa 40,500.
These, are the families of the sons of Gad, as to them who were numbered of them, —forty thousand and five hundred.
19 Eri na Onani walikuwa wana wa Yuda, lakini walifia huko Kanaani.
The sons of Judah, Er and Onan, —but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan.
20 Wazao wa Yuda kwa koo zao walikuwa: kutoka kwa Shela, ukoo wa Washela; kutoka kwa Peresi, ukoo wa Waperesi; kutoka kwa Zera, ukoo wa Wazera.
And so, as to the sons of Judah, by their families, it was found that—To Shelah, pertained the family of the Shelanites, To Perez, the family of the Perezites, —To Zerah, the family of the Zerahites;
21 Wazao wa Peresi walikuwa: kutoka kwa Hesroni, ukoo wa Wahesroni; kutoka kwa Hamuli, ukoo wa Wahamuli.
And, as to the sons of Perez, it was found that—To Hezron, pertained the family of the Hezronites, —To Hamul, the family of the Hamulites:
22 Hizi ndizo zilizokuwa koo za Yuda; wale waliohesabiwa walikuwa 76,500.
These, are the families of Judah, as to them who were numbered of them, —seventy-six thousand, and five hundred,
23 Wazao wa Isakari kwa koo zao walikuwa: kutoka kwa Tola, ukoo wa Watola; kutoka kwa Puva, ukoo wa Wapuva;
The sons of Issachar, by their families, Unto Tola, pertained the family of the Tolaites, —To Puvah, the family of the Puvites;
24 kutoka kwa Yashubu, ukoo wa Wayashubu; kutoka kwa Shimroni, ukoo wa Washimroni.
To Jashub, the family of the Jashubites, —To Shimron, the family of the Shimronites:
25 Hizi ndizo zilizokuwa koo za Isakari; wale waliohesabiwa walikuwa 64,300.
These, are the families of Issachar. as to them who were numbered of them, —sixty-four thousand, and three hundred.
26 Wazao wa Zabuloni kwa koo zao walikuwa: kutoka kwa Seredi, ukoo wa Waseredi; kutoka kwa Eloni, ukoo wa Waeloni; kutoka kwa Yaleeli, ukoo wa Wayaleeli.
The sons of Zebulun, by their families, To Sered, pertained the family of the Seredites, To Elon, the family of the Elonites, —To Jahleel, the family of the Jahleelites:
27 Hizi ndizo zilizokuwa koo za Zabuloni, wale waliohesabiwa walikuwa 60,500.
These are the families of the Zebulunites as to them who were numbered of them, —sixty thousand, and five hundred.
28 Wazao wa Yosefu kwa koo zao kutoka kwa Manase na kwa Efraimu walikuwa:
The sons of Joseph by their families, —Manasseh, and Ephraim.
29 Wazao wa Manase: kutoka kwa Makiri, ukoo wa Wamakiri (Makiri alikuwa baba wa Gileadi); kutoka kwa Gileadi, ukoo wa Wagileadi.
The sons of Manasseh, To Machir, pertained the family of the Machirites, and, Machir, begat Gilead, —To Gilead, pertained the family of the Gileadites.
30 Hawa ndio waliokuwa wazao wa Gileadi: kutoka kwa Iezeri, ukoo wa Waiezeri; kutoka kwa Heleki, ukoo wa Waheleki;
These are the sons of Gilead: Iezer, the family of the Iezerites, —To Helek, the family of the Helekites;
31 kutoka kwa Asirieli, ukoo wa Waasirieli; kutoka kwa Shekemu, ukoo wa Washekemu;
And Asriel, the family of the Asrielites; And, Shechem, the family of the Shechemites;
32 kutoka kwa Shemida, ukoo wa Washemida; kutoka kwa Heferi, ukoo wa Waheferi.
And Shemida, the family of the Shemidaites; And, Hepher, the family of the Hepherites.
33 (Selofehadi mwana wa Heferi hakuzaa wana, bali alikuwa na watoto wa kike tu, ambao majina yao yalikuwa Mahla, Noa, Hogla, Milka na Tirsa.)
Now Zelophehad, son of Hepher, had no sons, but only, daughters, —and, the names of the daughters of Zelophehad, were Mahlah and Noah, Hoglah Milcah, and Tirzah.
34 Hizi ndizo zilizokuwa koo za Manase; wale waliohesabiwa walikuwa 52,700.
These, are the families of Manasseh, —and, they who were numbered of them, —fifty-two thousand, and seven hundred.
35 Hawa walikuwa wazao wa Efraimu kwa koo zao: kutoka kwa Shuthela, ukoo wa Washuthela; kutoka kwa Bekeri, ukoo wa Wabekeri; kutoka kwa Tahani, ukoo wa Watahani;
These are the sons of Ephraim by their families, To Shuthelah, pertained the family of the Shuthelahites, To Becher, the family of the Becherites, —To Tahan, the family of the Tahanites.
36 Hawa ndio walikuwa wazao wa Shuthela: kutoka kwa Erani, ukoo wa Waerani.
And, these, are the sons of Shuthelah, To Eran, pertained the family of the Eranites.
37 Hizi ndizo zilizokuwa koo za Efraimu; wale waliohesabiwa walikuwa 32,500. Hawa ndio waliokuwa wazao wa Yosefu kwa koo zao.
These, are the families of the sons of Ephraim, as to them who were numbered of them, —thirty-two thousand, and five hundred, These, are the sons of Joseph by their families.
38 Wazao wa Benyamini kwa koo zao walikuwa: kutoka kwa Bela, ukoo wa Wabela; kutoka kwa Ashbeli, ukoo wa Waashbeli; kutoka kwa Ahiramu, ukoo wa Waahiramu;
The sons of Benjamin by their families, To Bela, pertained the family of the Belaites, To Ashbel, the family of the Ashbelites, —To Ahiram, the family of the Ahiramites;
39 kutoka kwa Shufamu, ukoo wa Washufamu; kutoka kwa Hufamu, ukoo wa Wahufamu.
To Shephupham, the family of the Shuphamites, —To Hupham, the family of the Huphamites.
40 Wazao wa Bela kutoka kwa Ardi na Naamani walikuwa: kutoka kwa Ardi, ukoo wa Waardi; kutoka kwa Naamani, ukoo wa Wanaamani.
And the sons of Bela were Ard and Naaman, —[To Ard, pertained] the family of the Ardites, To Naaman, the family of the Naamites.
41 Hizi ndizo zilizokuwa koo za Benyamini; wale waliohesabiwa walikuwa 45,600.
These, are the sons of Benjamin by their families, —and they who were numbered of them, —were forty-five thousand and six hundred.
42 Hawa ndio waliokuwa wazao wa Dani kwa koo zao: kutoka kwa Shuhamu, ukoo wa Washuhamu. Hizi ndizo zilizokuwa koo za Dani:
These, are the sons of Dan, by their families: To Shuham, pertained the family of the Shuhamites, —These, are the families of Dan by their families:
43 Wote walikuwa koo za Washuhamu; wale waliohesabiwa walikuwa 64,400.
All the families of the Shuhamites, as to them who were numbered of them, were, sixty-four thousand, and four hundred.
44 Wazao wa Asheri kwa koo zao walikuwa: kutoka kwa Imna, ukoo wa Waimna; kutoka kwa Ishvi, ukoo wa Waishvi; kutoka kwa Beria, ukoo wa Waberia;
The sons of Asher, by their families: To Imnah, pertained the family of the Imnites, To Ishvi, the family of the Ishvites, —To Beriah, the family of the Beriites;
45 kutoka kwa wazao wa Beria: kutoka kwa Heberi, ukoo wa Waheberi; kutoka kwa Malkieli, ukoo wa Wamalkieli.
To the sons of Beriah, To Heber, pertained the family of the Heberites, To Malchiel, the family of the Malchielites;
46 (Asheri alikuwa na binti aliyeitwa Sera.)
And, the name of the daughter of Asher, was Serah.
47 Hizi ndizo zilizokuwa koo za Asheri; wale waliohesabiwa walikuwa 53,400.
These, are the families of the sons of Asher as to them who were numbered of them, —fifty-three thousand and four hundred.
48 Wazao wa Naftali kwa koo zao walikuwa: kutoka kwa Yaseeli, ukoo wa Wayaseeli; kutoka kwa Guni, ukoo wa Waguni;
The sons of Naphtali, by their families, To Jahzeel, pertained the family of the Jahzeelites; To Guni, the family of the Gunites:
49 kutoka kwa Yeseri, ukoo wa Wayeseri; kutoka kwa Shilemu, ukoo wa Washilemu.
To Jezer, the family of the Jezerites; To Shillem, the family of the Shillemites.
50 Hizi ndizo zilizokuwa koo za Naftali; wale waliohesabiwa walikuwa 45,400.
These are the families of Naphtali, by their families, —and they who were numbered of them, were forty-five thousand and four hundred.
51 Jumla ya hesabu ya wanaume wa Israeli ilikuwa 601,730.
These, are they who were numbered of the sons of Israel, six hundred and one thousand, —seven hundred and thirty,
52 Bwana akamwambia Mose,
Then spake Yahweh unto Moses, saying:
53 “Watagawiwa nchi kama urithi kwa kulingana na hesabu ya majina.
Unto these, shall be apportioned the land as an inheritance by the number of names.
54 Kundi kubwa zaidi lipe urithi mkubwa zaidi, na kundi dogo zaidi lipewe urithi mdogo zaidi; kila kundi litapokea urithi wake kulingana na hesabu ya wale walioorodheshwa.
For the large one, thou shalt make large his inheritance, and for the small one, thou shalt make small his inheritance, —unto each one, in proportion to them who were numbered of him, shall be given his inheritance.
55 Hakikisha kuwa nchi inagawanywa kwa kura. Kile kitakachorithiwa na kila kikundi kitakuwa kwa kulingana na majina ya kabila la babu yao.
Nevertheless by lot, shall the land be apportioned, —by the names of the tribes of their fathers, shall they inherit.
56 Kila urithi utagawanywa kwa kura miongoni mwa makundi makubwa na madogo.”
At the bidding of the lot, shall be apportioned his inheritance, —between large and small.
57 Hawa walikuwa Walawi ambao walihesabiwa kwa koo zao: kutoka kwa Gershoni, ukoo wa Wagershoni; kutoka kwa Kohathi, ukoo wa Wakohathi; kutoka kwa Merari, ukoo wa Wamerari.
And these, are they who were numbered of the Levites by their families, To Gershon, pertained the family of the Gershonites, To Kohath, the family of the Kohathites; To Merari, the family of the Merarites.
58 Hizi pia zilikuwa koo za Walawi: ukoo wa Walibni; ukoo wa Wahebroni; ukoo wa Wamahli; ukoo wa Wamushi; ukoo wa wana wa Kora. (Kohathi alikuwa baba aliyemzaa Amramu;
These, are the families of Levi—The family of the Libnites, The family of the Hebronites, The family of the Mahlites, The family of the Mushites, The family of the Korahites, —And, Kohath, begat Amram;
59 jina la mke wa Amramu ni Yokebedi, naye pia alikuwa mzao wa Lawi, ambaye alizaliwa kwa Walawi nchini Misri. Alimzalia Amramu: Aroni, Mose na dada yao Miriamu.
and the name of the wife of Amram, was Jochebed daughter of Levi, who was born to Levi in Egypt, —and she bare to Amram Aaron and Moses, and Miriam their sister:
60 Aroni alikuwa baba yake Nadabu na Abihu, Eleazari na Ithamari.
And, there were born to Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, —Eleazar and Ithamar;
61 Lakini Nadabu na Abihu walikufa wakati walitoa sadaka mbele za Bwana kwa moto usioruhusiwa.)
But Nadab and Abihu died, —when they brought near strange fire before Yahweh:
62 Wanaume wote wa Walawi wa umri wa mwezi mmoja na zaidi walikuwa 23,000. Wao hawakuhesabiwa pamoja na Waisraeli wengine kwa sababu hawakupokea urithi miongoni mwao.
And they who were numbered of them were found to be—twenty-three thousand, all the males from one month old and upwards—for they had not numbered themselves in the midst of the sons of Israel, because there was given unto them no inheritance, in the midst of the sons of Israel.
63 Hawa ndio walioorodheshwa na Mose na kuhani Eleazari wakati waliwahesabu Waisraeli kwenye nchi tambarare ya Moabu, kando ya Yordani ngʼambo ya Yeriko.
These, are they who were numbered by Moses, and Eleazar, the priest, —when they numbered the sons of Israel, in the waste plains of Moab, by Jordan, near Jericho.
64 Hakuna hata mmoja wao aliyekuwa miongoni mwa wale waliohesabiwa na Mose na kuhani Aroni wakati waliwahesabu Waisraeli katika Jangwa la Sinai.
And among these, was there not found a man of them who had been numbered by Moses, and Aaron the priest, —when they numbered the sons of Israel in the desert of Sinai.
65 Kwa maana Bwana alikuwa amewaambia hao Waisraeli hakika wangekufa huko jangwani, wala hakuna mmoja wao aliyeachwa, isipokuwa Kalebu mwana wa Yefune na Yoshua mwana wa Nuni.
For Yahweh had said of them, They shall surely die, in the desert. And there was not left of them a man, save only, Caleb son of Jephunneh, and Joshua son of Nun.
