1 Panga majeshi yako, ee mji wa majeshi, kwa kuwa kuzingirwa kumepangwa dhidi yetu. Watampiga mtawala wa Israeli shavuni kwa fimbo.
Meanwhile, shalt thou gather together in troops, thou daughter of a troop, siege, hath he laid against us, —with a sceptre, will they smite on the cheek, the judge of Israel!
2 “Lakini wewe, Bethlehemu Efrathi, ingawa u mdogo miongoni mwa koo za Yuda, kutoka kwako atatokea kwa ajili yangu yeye atakayekuwa mtawala katika Israeli, ambaye asili yake ni kutoka zamani, kutoka milele.”
Thou, therefore, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though, little, to be among the thousands of Judah, out of thee, shall Mine come forth, to be ruler in Israel, —whose comings forth, have been from of old, from the days of age-past time.
3 Kwa hiyo Israeli utaachwa mpaka wakati mwanamke aliye na utungu atakapozaa na ndugu zake wengine warudi kujiunga na Waisraeli.
Therefore, will he give them up, until the time when, one who is to bring forth, hath brought forth, —and, the remainder of his brethren, return unto the sons of Israel.
4 Atasimama na kulichunga kundi lake katika nguvu ya Bwana, katika utukufu wa jina la Bwana Mungu wake. Nao wataishi kwa usalama, kwa kuwa wakati huo ukuu wake utaenea hadi miisho ya dunia.
Then shall he stand, and tend his flock in the strength of Yahweh, In the excellency of the name of Yahweh his God, have they endured, —For, now, shall he be great unto the ends of the earth;
5 Naye atakuwa amani yao. Wakati Mwashuru atakapovamia nchi yetu na kupita katika ngome zetu, tutawainua wachungaji saba dhidi yake, hata viongozi wanane wa watu.
So shall this one be Prosperity. As for Assyria—when he shall enter our land, and when he shall tread down in our palaces, then will we raise up against him, seven shepherds, and eight princes of mankind.
6 Wataitawala nchi ya Ashuru kwa upanga, nchi ya Nimrodi kwa upanga. Atatuokoa kutoka kwa Mwashuru atakapoivamia nchi yetu na kuingia katika mipaka yetu.
Then shall they shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof, —So shall he deliver from Assyria, when he shall enter our land, and when he shall tread down within our bounds.
7 Mabaki ya Yakobo yatakuwa katikati ya mataifa mengi kama umande kutoka kwa Bwana, kama manyunyu juu ya majani, ambayo hayamngoji mtu wala kukawia kwa mwanadamu.
And, the remnant of Jacob, shall be, in the midst of many peoples, as dew from Yahweh, as myriad drops on plants, —which tarrieth not for man, nor waiteth for the sons of Adam.
8 Mabaki ya Yakobo yatakuwa miongoni mwa mataifa, katikati ya mataifa mengi, kama simba miongoni mwa wanyama wa msituni, kama mwana simba miongoni mwa makundi ya kondoo, ambaye anaumiza vibaya na kuwararua kila anapopita katikati yao, wala hakuna awezaye kuokoa.
And, the remnant of Jacob, shall be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, as a lion among the beasts of the jungle, as a young lion among flocks of sheep, —who, if he passeth by, both treadeth down—and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.
9 Mkono wako utainuliwa juu kwa ushindi juu ya watesi wako, nao adui zako wote wataangamizwa.
Let thy hand be uplifted against thine adversaries, —and, all thine enemies, shall be cut off.
10 “Katika siku ile,” asema Bwana, “nitaangamiza farasi zenu katikati yenu na kubomoa magari yenu ya vita.
And it shall come to pass, in that day, Declareth Yahweh, That I will cut off thy horses out of thy midst, —and will destroy thy chariots;
11 Nitaiangamiza miji ya nchi yenu na kuziangusha chini ngome zenu zote.
And will cut off the cities of thy land, —and will pull down all thy fortresses;
12 Nitaangamiza uchawi wenu na hamtapiga tena ramli.
And will cut off incantations, out of thy hand, —and, users of hidden arts, shalt thou not have;
13 Nitaangamiza vinyago vyenu vya kuchonga na mawe yenu ya ibada yatoke katikati yenu; hamtasujudia tena kazi ya mikono yenu.
And I will cut off thine images and thy pillars out of thy midst, —and thou shalt not bow thyself down, any more, to the work of thine own hands;
14 Nitangʼoa nguzo za Ashera katikati yenu na kubomoa miji yenu.
And I will uproot thy Sacred Stems out of thy midst, —and will destroy thy cities:
15 Nitalipiza kisasi kwa hasira na ghadhabu juu ya mataifa ambayo hayajanitii.”
Then will I execute, with anger and with indignation, vengeance upon the nations, —of which they have not heard.
