Yeremia 47
1 Hili ndilo neno la Bwana lililomjia nabii Yeremia kuhusu Wafilisti, kabla Farao hajaishambulia Gaza:
The wordes of the Lord that came to Ieremiah the Prophet, against the Philistims, before that Pharaoh smote Azzah.
2 Hili ndilo asemalo Bwana: “Tazama jinsi maji yanavyoinuka huko kaskazini, yatakuwa mafuriko yenye nguvu sana. Yataifurikia nchi na vitu vyote vilivyomo ndani yake, miji na wale waishio ndani yake. Watu watapiga kelele; wote waishio katika nchi wataomboleza
Thus saith the Lord, Beholde, waters rise vp out of the North, and shalbe as a swelling flood, and shall ouerflowe the land, and all that is therein, and the cities with them that dwell therein: then the men shall crie, and all the inhabitants of the land shall howle,
3 kwa sauti ya kwato za farasi waendao mbio, kwa sauti ya magari ya adui na mngurumo wa magurudumu yake. Baba hawatageuka kuwasaidia watoto wao, mikono yao italegea.
At the noise and stamping of ye hoofes of his strong horses, at the noise of his charets, and at the rumbling of his wheeles: ye fathers shall not looke backe to their children, for feeblenes of handes,
4 Kwa maana siku imewadia kuwaangamiza Wafilisti wote na kuwakatilia mbali walionusurika wote ambao wangeweza kusaidia Tiro na Sidoni. Bwana anakaribia kuwaangamiza Wafilisti, mabaki toka pwani za Kaftori.
Because of the day that commeth to destroy all the Philistims, and to destroy Tyrus, and Zidon, and all the rest that take their part: for the Lord will destroy the Philistims, the remnant of the yle of Caphtor.
5 Gaza atanyoa kichwa chake katika kuomboleza, Ashkeloni atanyamazishwa. Enyi mabaki kwenye tambarare, mtajikatakata wenyewe mpaka lini?
Baldenes is come vpon Azzah: Ashkelon is cut vp with the rest of their valleys. Howe long wilt thou thy selfe?
6 “Mnalia, ‘Aa, upanga wa Bwana, utaendelea mpaka lini ndipo upumzike? Rudi ndani ya ala yako; acha na utulie.’
O thou sword of the Lord, how long will it be or thou cease! turne againe into thy scaberd, rest and be still.
7 Lakini upanga utatuliaje wakati Bwana ameuamuru, wakati ameuagiza kuishambulia Ashkeloni pamoja na pwani yake?”
Howe can it cease, seeing the Lord hath giuen it a charge against Ashkelon, and against the sea banke? euen there hath he appointed it.
