1 Ndipo Yakobo akawaita wanawe na kusema: “Kusanyikeni kunizunguka ili niweze kuwaambia lile litakalowatokea siku zijazo.
Then called Jacob unto his sons, —and said—Gather yourselves together, and let me tell you, that which shall befall you in the afterpart of the days.
2 “Kusanyikeni na msikilize, enyi wana wa Yakobo, msikilizeni baba yenu Israeli.
Assemble yourselves and hear ye sons of Jacob, —And hearken unto Israel your father!
3 “Reubeni, wewe ni mzaliwa wangu wa kwanza, nguvu zangu, tunda la kwanza la nguvu zangu, umepita kwa heshima, umepita kwa uwezo.
Reuben, my first-born, thou, My vigour, and the first-fruit of my strength, —Pre-eminence of elevation and pre-eminence of power:
4 Usiyezuiwa kama maji, basi hutakuwa mkuu tena, kwa kuwa ulipanda kwenye kitanda cha baba yako, kwenye kitanda changu na kukinajisi.
Boiling over like water, thou mayest not have pre-eminence, Because thou didst mount the bed of thy father, —Then, wast thou profane—My marriage-bed, he mounted!
5 “Simeoni na Lawi ni wana ndugu: panga zao ni silaha za jeuri.
Simeon and Levi, are brethren, —Instruments of violence, are their agreements:
6 Mimi na nisiingie katika baraza lao, nami nisiunganike katika kusanyiko lao, kwa kuwa wamewaua watu katika hasira yao, walikata mishipa ya miguu ya mafahali kama walivyopenda.
Into their circle, do not thou enter my soul! In their convocation, do not thou join mine honour! For in their anger, they slew brave men, And in their wantonness, they ham-strung oxen.
7 Hasira yao na ilaaniwe, kwa kuwa ni kali mno, nayo ghadhabu yao ni ya ukatili! Nitawatawanya katika Yakobo Na kuwasambaza katika Israeli.
Accursed, be their anger, because fierce, And their wrath because cruel, —I divide them in Jacob, And I disperse them in Israel.
8 “Yuda, ndugu zako watakusifu; mkono wako utakuwa shingoni mwa adui zako; wana wa baba yako watakusujudia.
Judah, as for thee, thy brethren shall praise thee when thy hand is on the neck of thy foes, —The sons of thy father, shall bow them-selves down to thee:
9 Ee Yuda, wewe ni mwana simba; unarudi toka mawindoni, mwanangu. Kama simba hunyemelea na kulala chini, kama simba jike: nani athubutuye kumwamsha?
A lion’s whelp, is Judah, From the prey, my son hast thou come up! He hath stooped—hath crouched As a lion—or as a lioness, Who shall rouse him?
10 Fimbo ya ufalme haitaondoka kwa Yuda, wala fimbo ya mtawala kati ya miguu yake, hadi aje yeye ambaye milki ni yake, ambaye utii wa mataifa ni wake.
The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, Nor the commander’s staff from between his feet, —Until that he come in as a Shiloh, And, his, be the obedience of the peoples:
11 Atamfunga punda wake katika mzabibu, naye mwana-punda wake kwenye tawi lililo bora zaidi; atafua mavazi yake katika divai, majoho yake katika damu ya mizabibu.
Binding, to the vine, his ass, And to the choice vine his ass’s colt, He hath washed in wine his raiment, And in the blood of grapes, his mantle:
12 Macho yake yatakuwa mekundu kwa divai, meno yake yatakuwa meupe kwa maziwa.
Darker—his eyes, than wine, —Whiter—his teeth than milk!
13 “Zabuloni ataishi pwani ya bahari na kuwa bandari za kuegesha meli; mpaka wake utapanuka kuelekea Sidoni.
Zebulon, by a haven of seas, shall he settle down, —Even he, by a haven of ships, With his utmost part upon Zidon.
14 “Isakari ni punda mwenye nguvu ambaye amelala kati ya mizigo yake.
Issachar, an ass of strength, —couching between the pens;
15 Aonapo palivyo pazuri mahali pake pa kupumzika na jinsi nchi yake inavyopendeza, atainamisha bega lake kwenye mzigo na kujitolea kwa ajili ya kazi ngumu.
Then beholdeth he rest, that it is good, And the ground that it is pleasant, —So he bendeth his shoulder to bear, And becometh a tributary servant.
16 “Dani atahukumu watu wake kwa haki kama mmoja wa makabila ya Israeli.
Dan, shall vindicate his people, —as one of the tribes of Israel;
17 Dani atakuwa nyoka kando ya barabara, nyoka mwenye sumu kando ya njia, yule aumaye visigino vya farasi ili yule ampandaye aanguke chali.
It cometh to pass that, Dan, is a serpent upon the way, A horned viper, upon the path, —That biteth the heels of the horse, And his rider falleth backwards: —
18 “Ee Bwana, nautafuta wokovu wako.
For thy salvation, have I waited O Yahweh!
19 “Gadi atashambuliwa ghafula na kundi la washambuliaji, lakini yeye atawageukia na kuwashinda kabisa.
Gad! a troop shall troop on him, —But, he, shall troop on the rear.
20 “Chakula cha Asheri kitakuwa kinono, naye atatoa chakula kitamu kimfaacho mfalme.
Out of Asher, fatness, is his food, —So, he, setteth forth dainties for a king.
21 “Naftali ni kulungu jike aliyeachiwa huru azaaye watoto wazuri.
Naphtali, is a slender hind, —That putteth forth antlers of beauty.
22 “Yosefu ni mzabibu uzaao, mzabibu uzaao ulio kando ya chemchemi, ambao matawi yake hutanda ukutani.
A fruitful bough, is Joseph, A fruitful bough over a fountain, —Branches creeping over a wall.
23 Kwa uchungu wapiga mshale walimshambulia, wakampiga mshale kwa ukatili.
So they attack him and have shot, —So they enclose him, do the masters of arrows.
24 Lakini upinde wake ulibaki imara, mikono yake ikatiwa nguvu, na mkono wa Mwenye Nguvu wa Yakobo, kwa sababu ya Mchungaji, Mwamba wa Israeli,
But abideth, as an enduring one, his bow, And supple are the arms of his hands, —From the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, From thence, is the Shepherd the Stone of Israel:
25 kwa sababu ya Mungu wa baba yako, anayekusaidia, kwa sababu ya Mwenyezi, yeye anayekubariki kwa baraka za mbinguni juu, baraka za kilindi kilichoko chini, baraka za matitini na za tumbo la uzazi.
From the GOD of thy father who doth help thee And GOD Almighty who doth bless thee, Blessings of the heavens, above, Blessings of the abyss, couching beneath, —Blessings of breasts and womb:
26 Baraka za baba yako ni kubwa kuliko baraka za milima ya kale, nyingi kuliko vilima vya kale. Baraka hizo zote na zikae juu ya kichwa cha Yosefu, juu ya paji la yule mkuu miongoni mwa ndugu zake.
The blessings of thy father, have prevailed, Over the blessings of the perpetual mountains, The charm of the age-abiding hills, —They turn out to be, for the head of Joseph, And for the crown of the head of him who was set apart from his brethren.
27 “Benyamini ni mbwa mwitu mlafi mwenye njaa kuu; asubuhi hurarua mawindo yake, jioni hugawa nyara.”
Benjamin a wolf that teareth in pieces, In the morning, he eateth prey, And at eventide, he divideth spoil.
28 Haya yote ndiyo makabila kumi na mawili ya Israeli, na hivi ndivyo baba yao alivyowaambia alipowabariki, akimpa kila mmoja baraka inayomfaa.
All these, are the twelve tribes of Israel, —And this, is that which their father spake to them when he blessed them, Each man severally according to the blessing wherewith he blessed them.
29 Ndipo alipowapa maelekezo haya: “Mimi niko karibu kukusanywa kwa watu wangu. Mnizike pamoja na baba zangu kwenye pango katika shamba la Efroni, Mhiti,
Then commanded he them and said unto them—I, am about to be gathered unto my people, Bury me among my fathers, —within the cave, that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite:
30 pango lililoko katika shamba la Makpela, karibu na Mamre huko Kanaani, ambalo Abrahamu alinunua kwa ajili ya mahali pa kuzikia kutoka kwa Efroni, Mhiti, pamoja na shamba.
in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah which is over against Mamre, in the land of Canaan, —which Abraham bought, along with the field, from Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace: —
31 Huko ndiko Abrahamu na Sara mkewe walikozikwa, huko akazikwa Isaki na Rebeka mkewe, na huko nilimzika Lea.
There, buried they Abraham, and Sarah his wife, There, buried they Isaac, and Rebekah his wife, —And there, buried I Leah: —
32 Shamba hilo na pango lililoko ndani yake lilinunuliwa kutoka kwa Wahiti.”
buying the field and the cave that is therein, from the sons of Heth.
33 Baada ya Yakobo kumaliza kutoa maelekezo hayo kwa wanawe, akarudisha miguu yake kitandani, akapumua pumzi ya mwisho, na akakusanywa kwa watu wake.
So Jacob made an end of commanding his sons, and gathered up his feet into the couch, —and ceased to breathe and was gathered unto his people.
