1 Hivyo Israeli akaondoka na vyote vilivyokuwa mali yake, naye alipofika Beer-Sheba, akamtolea dhabihu Mungu wa Isaki baba yake.
Israel [God prevails] traveled with all that he had, and came to Be'er-Sheva [Well of Seven, Well of an Oath], and offered sacrifices to the God of his father, Isaac [Laughter].
2 Mungu akanena na Israeli katika maono usiku na kusema, “Yakobo! Yakobo!” Akajibu, “Mimi hapa.”
God spoke to Israel [God prevails] in the visions of the night, and said, “Jacob [Supplanter], Jacob [Supplanter]!” He said, “Here I am.”
3 Mungu akamwambia, “Mimi ndimi Mungu wa baba yako, usiogope kushuka Misri, kwa maana huko nitakufanya taifa kubwa.
He said, “I am God, the God of your father. Don’t be afraid to go down into Egypt [Abode of slavery], for there I will make of you a great nation.
4 Nitashuka Misri pamoja nawe, nami hakika nitakurudisha tena Kanaani. Mikono ya Yosefu mwenyewe ndiyo itakayofunga macho yako.”
I will go down with you into Egypt [Abode of slavery]. I will also surely bring you up again. Joseph [May he add] will close your eyes.”
5 Ndipo Yakobo akaondoka Beer-Sheba nao wana wa Israeli wakamchukua baba yao Yakobo na watoto wao na wake zao katika magari ya kukokotwa yale Farao aliyokuwa amempelekea kumsafirisha.
Jacob [Supplanter] rose up from Be'er-Sheva [Well of Seven, Well of an Oath], and the sons of Israel [God prevails] carried Jacob [Supplanter], their father, their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.
6 Wakachukua pia mifugo yao na mali walizokuwa wamezipata Kanaani, Yakobo na uzao wake wote wakashuka Misri.
They took their livestock, and their goods, which they had gotten in the land of Canaan [Humbled], and came into Egypt [Abode of slavery]— Jacob, and all his offspring with him,
7 Akawachukua wanawe na binti zake, wajukuu wake wa kiume na wa kike, yaani uzao wake wote mpaka Misri.
his sons, and his sons’ sons with him, his daughters, and his sons’ daughters, and he brought all his offspring with him into Egypt [Abode of slavery].
8 Haya ndiyo majina ya wana wa Israeli (Yakobo na wazao wake), waliokwenda Misri: Reubeni mzaliwa wa kwanza wa Yakobo.
These are the names of the children of Israel [God prevails], who came into Egypt [Abode of slavery], Jacob [Supplanter] and his sons: Reuben [See, a son!], Jacob [Supplanter]’s firstborn.
9 Wana wa Reubeni ni: Hanoki, Palu, Hesroni na Karmi.
The sons of Reuben [See, a son!]: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.
10 Wana wa Simeoni ni: Yemueli, Yamini, Ohadi, Yakini, Sohari na Shauli mwana wa mwanamke Mkanaani.
The sons of Simeon [Hearing]: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar, and Shaul [Asked for] the son of a Canaanite [Descendant of Humbled] woman.
11 Wana wa Lawi ni: Gershoni, Kohathi na Merari.
The sons of Levi [United with]: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
12 Wana wa Yuda ni: Eri, Onani, Shela, Peresi na Zera (lakini Eri na Onani walifariki katika nchi ya Kanaani). Wana wa Peresi ni: Hesroni na Hamuli.
The sons of Judah [Praised]: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah; but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan [Humbled]. The sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.
13 Wana wa Isakari ni: Tola, Puva, Yashubu na Shimroni.
The sons of Issachar [Hire, Reward]: Tola, Puvah, Job [Persecuted], and Shimron.
14 Wana wa Zabuloni ni: Seredi, Eloni na Yaleeli.
The sons of Zebulun [Living together]: Sered, Elon, and Jahleel.
15 Hawa ndio wana wa Lea aliomzalia Yakobo huko Padan-Aramu pamoja na binti yake Dina. Jumla ya wanawe na binti zake walikuwa thelathini na watatu.
These are the sons of Leah [Weary], whom she bore to Jacob [Supplanter] in Paddan Aram [Elevated], with his daughter Dinah. All the souls of his sons and his daughters were thirty-three.
16 Wana wa Gadi ni: Sefoni, Hagi, Shuni, Esboni, Eri, Arodi na Areli.

17 Wana wa Asheri ni: Imna, Ishva, Ishvi na Beria. Dada yao alikuwa Sera. Wana wa Beria ni: Heberi na Malkieli.
The sons of Asher [Happy]: Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, Beriah, and Serah their sister. The sons of Beriah: Heber and Malchiel.
18 Hawa ndio watoto Zilpa aliomzalia Yakobo, ambao Labani alimpa binti yake Lea; jumla yao walikuwa kumi na sita.
These are the sons of Zilpah [Frailty], whom Laban [White] gave to Leah [Weary], his daughter, and these she bore to Jacob [Supplanter], even sixteen souls.
19 Wana wa Raheli mke wa Yakobo ni: Yosefu na Benyamini.
The sons of Rachel [Ewe sheep], Jacob [Supplanter]’s wife: Joseph [May he add] and Benjamin [Son of right hand, Son of south].
20 Huko Misri, Asenathi binti wa Potifera, aliyekuwa kuhani wa mji wa Oni, alimzalia Yosefu wana wawili, Manase na Efraimu.
To Joseph [May he add] in the land of Egypt [Abode of slavery] were born Manasseh [Causing to forget] and Ephraim [Fruit], whom Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera, priest of On, bore to him.
21 Wana wa Benyamini ni: Bela, Bekeri, Ashbeli, Gera, Naamani, Ehi, Roshi, Mupimu, Hupimu na Ardi.
The sons of Benjamin [Son of right hand, Son of south]: Bela, Becher, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim, and Ard.
22 Hawa ndio wana wa Raheli aliomzalia Yakobo; jumla yao ni kumi na wanne.
These are the sons of Rachel [Ewe sheep], who were born to Jacob [Supplanter]: all the souls were fourteen.
23 Mwana wa Dani ni: Hushimu.
The son of Dan [He judged]: Hushim.
24 Wana wa Naftali ni: Yaseeli, Guni, Yeseri na Shilemu.
The sons of Naphtali [My wrestling]: Jahzeel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem.
25 Hawa walikuwa wana wa Bilha aliomzalia Yakobo, ambaye Labani alikuwa amempa Raheli binti yake; jumla yao walikuwa saba.
These are the sons of Bilhah [Bashful], whom Laban [White] gave to Rachel [Ewe sheep], his daughter, and these she bore to Jacob [Supplanter]: all the souls were seven.
26 Wote waliokwenda Misri pamoja na Yakobo, waliokuwa wazao wake hasa pasipo kuhesabu wakwe zake, walikuwa watu sitini na sita.
All the souls who came with Jacob [Supplanter] into Egypt [Abode of slavery], who were his direct offspring, besides Jacob [Supplanter]’s sons’ wives, all the souls were sixty-six.
27 Pamoja na wana wawili waliozaliwa na Yosefu huko Misri, jumla yote ya jamaa ya Yakobo, waliokwenda Misri, walikuwa sabini.
The sons of Joseph [May he add], who were born to him in Egypt [Abode of slavery], were two souls. All the souls of the house of Jacob [Supplanter], who came into Egypt [Abode of slavery], were seventy.
28 Basi Yakobo akamtanguliza Yuda aende kwa Yosefu ili amwelekeze njia ya Gosheni. Walipofika nchi ya Gosheni,
He sent Judah [Praised] before him to Joseph [May he add], to show the way before him to Goshen [Drawing near], and they came into the land of Goshen [Drawing near].
29 gari kubwa zuri la Yosefu liliandaliwa, naye akaenda Gosheni kumlaki baba yake Israeli. Mara Yosefu alipofika mbele yake, alimkumbatia baba yake, akalia kwa muda mrefu.
Joseph [May he add] prepared his chariot, and went up to meet Israel [God prevails], his father, in Goshen [Drawing near]. He presented himself to him, and fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while.
30 Israeli akamwambia Yosefu, “Sasa niko tayari kufa, kwa kuwa nimejionea mwenyewe kwamba bado uko hai.”
Israel [God prevails] said to Joseph [May he add], “Now let me die, since I have seen your face, that you are still alive.”
31 Ndipo Yosefu akawaambia ndugu zake na watu wa nyumbani mwa baba yake, “Nitapanda kwa Farao na kumwambia, ‘Ndugu zangu na watu wa nyumbani mwa baba yangu, waliokuwa wakiishi katika nchi ya Kanaani, wamekuja kwangu.
Joseph [May he add] said to his brothers, and to his father’s house, “I will go up, and speak with Pharaoh, and will tell him, ‘My brothers, and my father’s house, who were in the land of Canaan [Humbled], have come to me.
32 Watu hao ni wachunga mifugo, huchunga mifugo, wamekuja na makundi ya kondoo, mbuzi na ngʼombe pamoja na kila kitu walicho nacho.’
These men are shepherds, for they have been keepers of livestock, and they have brought their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have.’
33 Farao atakapowaita na kuwaulizeni, ‘Kazi yenu ni nini?’
It will happen, when Pharaoh summons you, and will say, ‘What is your occupation?’
34 Mjibuni, ‘Watumwa wako wamekuwa wachunga mifugo tangu ujana wetu mpaka sasa, kama baba zetu walivyofanya.’ Ndipo mtakaporuhusiwa kukaa katika nchi ya Gosheni, kwa kuwa wachunga mifugo wote ni chukizo kwa Wamisri.”
that you shall say, ‘Your servants have been keepers of livestock from our youth even until now, both we, and our fathers:’ that you may dwell in the land of Goshen [Drawing near]; for every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians [people from Abode of slavery].”
