1 Kisha Mungu akamwambia Yakobo, “Panda uende Betheli ukakae huko na ukamjengee Mungu madhabahu huko, Yeye aliyekutokea ulipokuwa unamkimbia Esau ndugu yako.”
And God sayd vnto Iacob aryse ad get the vp to Bethell and dwell there. And make there an aulter vnto God that apeared vnto the when thou fleddest from Esau thy brother.
2 Hivyo Yakobo akawaambia watu wa nyumbani mwake pamoja na wote waliokuwa naye, “Iondoeni miungu ya kigeni ile iliyoko katikati yenu, jitakaseni na mkabadilishe nguo zenu.
Than sayd Iacob vnto his housholde and to all yt were with him put away the strauge goddes that are amonge you and make youre selues cleane and chaunge youre garmetes
3 Kisha njooni, twende Betheli, mahali nitakapomjengea Mungu madhabahu, aliyenijibu katika siku ya shida yangu, ambaye amekuwa pamoja nami popote nilipokwenda.”
and let vs aryse and goo vp to Bethell yt I maye make an aulter there vnto God which herde me in the daye of my tribulatio and was wyth me in the waye which I went.
4 Kwa hiyo wakampa Yakobo miungu yote ya kigeni waliyokuwa nayo, pamoja na pete zilizokuwa masikioni mwao. Yakobo akavizika chini ya mti wa mwaloni huko Shekemu.
And they gaue vnto Iacob all the straunge goddes which were vnder their handes ad all their earynges which were in their eares and Iacob hyd them vnder an ooke at Sichem.
5 Kisha wakaondoka, na hofu ya Mungu ikawapata miji yote iliyowazunguka. Kwa hiyo hakuna aliyewafuatia wana wa Yakobo.
And they departed. And the feare of God fell vpon the cyties that were rounde aboute them that they durst not folowe after the sonnes of Iacob.
6 Yakobo na watu wote waliokuwa pamoja naye wakafika Luzu (ndio Betheli), katika nchi ya Kanaani.
So came Iacob to Lus in the lande of Canaan otherwise called Bethell with all the people that was with him.
7 Huko akajenga madhabahu na akapaita mahali pale El-Betheli, kwa sababu mahali pale ndipo Mungu alipojifunua kwake alipokuwa akimkimbia ndugu yake.
And he buylded there an aulter and called the place Elbethell: because that God appered vnto him there when he fled from his brother.
8 Wakati huu Debora, mlezi wa Rebeka, akafa na akazikwa chini ya mti wa mwaloni ulioko chini ya Betheli. Kwa hiyo pakaitwa Alon-Bakuthi.
Than dyed Deborr Rebeccas norse and was buryed benethe Bethell vnder an ooke. And the name of it was called the ooke of lamentation.
9 Baada ya Yakobo kurudi kutoka Padan-Aramu, Mungu alimtokea tena na kumbariki.
And God appeared vnto Iacob agayne after he came out of Mesopotamia and blessed him
10 Mungu akamwambia, “Jina lako ni Yakobo, lakini hutaitwa tena Yakobo, jina lako utakuwa Israeli.” Kwa hiyo akamwita Israeli.
and sayde vnto him: thy name is Iacob. Notwithstondynge thou shalt be nomore called Iacob but Israel shalbe thy name. And so was his name called Israell.
11 Mungu akamwambia, “Mimi ndimi Mungu Mwenyezi, ukazae na kuongezeka. Taifa na jamii ya mataifa itatoka kwako, nao wafalme watatoka viunoni mwako.
And God sayde vnto him: I am God allmightie growe and multiplye: for people and a multitude of people shall sprynge of the yee ad kynges shall come out of they loynes.
12 Nchi niliyowapa Abrahamu na Isaki nakupa wewe pia, nami nitawapa wazao wako baada yako.”
And the lande which I gaue Abraha and Isaac will I geue vnto the and vnto thi seed after the will I geue it also.
13 Kisha Mungu akapanda juu kutoka kwake mahali pale alipozungumza naye.
And god departed fro him in the place where he talked with him.
14 Yakobo akasimamisha nguzo ya jiwe mahali pale Mungu alipozungumza naye, akamimina sadaka ya kinywaji juu yake, pia akamimina mafuta juu yake.
And Iacob set vp a marke in the place where he talked with him: euen a pilloure of stone and powred drynkeoffringe theron and powred also oyle theron
15 Yakobo akapaita mahali pale Mungu alipozungumza naye Betheli.
and called the name of the place where God spake with him Bethell.
16 Kisha wakaondoka Betheli. Walipokuwa umbali fulani kabla ya kufika Efrathi, Raheli akaanza kusikia uchungu na alipata shida kuu.
And they departed from Bethel and when he was but a feld brede from Ephrath Rahel began to trauell. And in travelynge she was in perell.
17 Alipokuwa katika shida hii katika kujifungua, mkunga akamwambia, “Usiogope, kwa sababu umempata mwana mwingine.”
And as she was in paynes of hir laboure the mydwyfe sayde vnto her: feare not for thou shalt haue this sonne also.
18 Hapo alipopumua pumzi yake ya mwisho, kwa maana alikuwa akifa, akamwita mwanawe Benoni. Lakini babaye akamwita Benyamini.
Then as hir soule was a departinge that she must dye: she called his name Ben Oni. But his father called him Ben Iamin.
19 Kwa hiyo Raheli akafa, akazikwa kando ya njia iendayo Efrathi (ndio Bethlehemu).
And thus dyed Rahel ad was buryed in the waye to Ephrath which now is called Bethlehem.
20 Juu ya kaburi lake, Yakobo akasimamisha nguzo, ambayo mpaka leo inatambulisha kaburi la Raheli.
And Iacob sett vp a piller apon hir graue which is called Rahels graue piller vnto this daye.
21 Israeli akaendelea tena na safari yake na kupiga hema mbele mnara wa Ederi.
And Israell went thece and pitched vp his tent beyonde the toure of Eder.
22 Wakati Israeli alipokuwa akiishi katika nchi ile, Reubeni mwanawe alikutana kimwili na suria wa baba yake aitwaye Bilha, naye Israeli akasikia jambo hili. Yakobo alikuwa na wana kumi na wawili:
And it chaunced as Israel dwelt in that lande that Ruben went and laye with Bilha his fathers concubyne and it came to Israels eare. The sonnes of Iacob were. xij. in nombre.
23 Wana wa Lea walikuwa: Reubeni mzaliwa wa kwanza wa Yakobo, Simeoni, Lawi, Yuda, Isakari na Zabuloni.
The sonnes of Lea. Ruben Iacobs eldest sonne and Simeo Leui Iuda Isachar and Zabulon
24 Wana wa Raheli walikuwa: Yosefu na Benyamini.
The sonnes of Rahel: Ioseph and Ben Iamin.
25 Wana waliozaliwa na Bilha mtumishi wa kike wa Raheli walikuwa: Dani na Naftali.
The sonnes of Bilha Rahels mayde: Dan and Nepthali.
26 Wana waliozaliwa na Zilpa mtumishi wa kike wa Lea walikuwa: Gadi na Asheri. Hawa walikuwa wana wa Yakobo, waliozaliwa kwake akiwa Padan-Aramu.
The sonnes of Zilpha Leas mayde Gad and Aser. Thes are the sones of Iacob which were borne him in Mesopotamia.
27 Yakobo akarudi nyumbani kwa baba yake Isaki huko Mamre, karibu na Kiriath-Arba (yaani Hebroni), ambapo walikuwa wameishi Abrahamu na Isaki.
Then Iacob went vnto Isaac his father to Mamre a pricipall cyte otherwise called Hebron: where Abraha and Isaac sogeorned as straungers.
28 Isaki aliishi miaka 180.
And the dayes of Isaac were an hundred and. lxxx. yeres:
29 Kisha Isaki akapumua pumzi yake ya mwisho akafa, akakusanywa pamoja na watu wake akiwa mzee wa miaka mingi. Nao wanawe Esau na Yakobo wakamzika.
and than fell he seke and dyed ad was put vnto his people: beynge olde and full of dayes. And his sonnes Esau ad Iacob buried him.
