Mwanzo 11
1 Wakati huo dunia yote ilikuwa na lugha moja na msemo mmoja.
Then the whole earth was of one language and one speache.
2 Watu walipoelekea upande wa mashariki, wakafika kwenye tambarare katika nchi ya Shinari nao wakaishi huko.
And as they went from the East, they found a plaine in the land of Shinar, and there they abode.
3 Wakasemezana wao kwa wao, “Njooni, tufyatue matofali na tuyachome vizuri kwa moto.” Walitumia matofali badala ya mawe, na lami kwa ajili ya kushikamanishia hayo matofali.
And they said one to another, Come, let vs make bricke, and burne it in the fire. So they had bricke for stone, and slime had they in steade of morter.
4 Ndipo wakasema, “Njooni, tujijengee mji wenye mnara ambao utafika hadi mbinguni, ili tujipatie jina tusije tukatawanyika usoni pa dunia yote.”
Also they said, Goe to, let vs builde vs a citie and a towre, whose top may reache vnto the heauen, that we may get vs a name, lest we be scattered vpon the whole earth.
5 Lakini Bwana akashuka ili auone mji na mnara ambao wanadamu waliokuwa wanaujenga.
But the Lord came downe, to see the citie and towre, which the sonnes of men builded.
6 Bwana akasema, “Ikiwa kama taifa moja wanaozungumza lugha moja wameanza kufanya hili, basi hakuna lolote watakalopanga kufanya ambalo halitawezekana kwao.
And the Lord said, Beholde, the people is one, and they all haue one language, and this they begin to doe, neither can they now be stopped from whatsoeuer they haue imagined to do.
7 Njooni, tushuke tuvuruge lugha yao ili wasielewane wao kwa wao.”
Come on, let vs goe downe, and there confound their language, that euery one perceiue not anothers speache.
8 Hivyo Bwana akawatawanya kutoka mahali pale kwenda katika dunia yote, nao wakaacha kuujenga huo mji.
So ye Lord scattered them from thence vpon all the earth, and they left off to build the citie.
9 Ndiyo maana pakaitwa Babeli, kwa sababu hapo ndipo Bwana alipoivuruga lugha ya dunia nzima. Kutoka hapo Bwana akawatawanya katika uso wa dunia yote.
Therefore the name of it was called Babel, because the Lord did there confounde the language of all the earth: from thence then did the Lord scatter them vpon all the earth.
10 Hivi ndivyo vizazi vya Shemu. Miaka miwili baada ya gharika, Shemu alipokuwa na miaka 100, akamzaa Arfaksadi.
These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundreth yeere olde, and begate Arpachshad two yeere after the flood.
11 Baada ya kumzaa Arfaksadi, Shemu aliishi miaka 500, akazaa watoto wengine wa kiume na wa kike.
And Shem liued, after he begate Arpachshad, fiue hundreth yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
12 Wakati Arfaksadi alipokuwa na miaka thelathini na mitano, akamzaa Shela.
Also Arpachshad liued fiue and thirtie yeeres, and begate Shelah.
13 Baada ya Arfaksadi kumzaa Shela, aliishi miaka 403, akazaa watoto wengine wa kiume na wa kike.
And Arpachshad liued, after he begate Shelah, foure hundreth and three yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
14 Shela alipokuwa na miaka thelathini, akamzaa Eberi.
And Shelah liued thirtie yeeres, and begat Eber.
15 Shela baada ya kumzaa Eberi, aliishi miaka 403, akazaa watoto wengine wa kiume na wa kike.
So Shelah liued, after he begat Eber, foure hundreth and three yeeres, and begat sonnes and daughters.
16 Eberi alipokuwa na miaka thelathini na minne, akamzaa Pelegi.
Likewise Eber liued foure and thirtie yeres, and begate Peleg.
17 Baada ya Eberi kumzaa Pelegi, aliishi miaka 430, akazaa watoto wengine wa kiume na wa kike.
So Eber liued, after he begate Peleg, foure hundreth and thirtie yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters
18 Pelegi alipokuwa na miaka thelathini, akamzaa Reu.
And Peleg liued thirtie yeeres, and begate Reu.
19 Baada ya Pelegi kumzaa Reu, aliishi miaka 209, akazaa watoto wengine wa kiume na wa kike.
And Peleg liued, after he begate Reu, two hundreth and nine yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
20 Reu alipokuwa na miaka thelathini na miwili, akamzaa Serugi.
Also Reu liued two and thirtie yeeres, and begate Serug.
21 Baada ya Reu kumzaa Serugi, aliishi miaka 207, akazaa watoto wengine wa kiume na wa kike.
So Reu liued, after he begate Serug, two hundreth and seuen yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
22 Serugi alipokuwa na miaka thelathini, akamzaa Nahori.
Moreouer Serug liued thirtie yeeres, and begate Nahor.
23 Baada ya Serugi kumzaa Nahori, aliishi miaka 200, akazaa watoto wengine wa kiume na wa kike.
And Serug liued, after he begate Nahor, two hundreth yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
24 Nahori alipokuwa na miaka ishirini na tisa, akamzaa Tera.
And Nahor liued nine and twentie yeeres, and begate Terah.
25 Baada ya Nahori kumzaa Tera, aliishi miaka 119, akazaa watoto wengine wa kiume na wa kike.
So Nahor liued, after he begate Terah, an hundreth and nineteene yeeres, and begat sonnes and daughters.
26 Tera alipokuwa na miaka sabini, akamzaa Abramu, Nahori na Harani.
So Terah liued seuentie yeeres, and begate Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
27 Hawa ndio wazao wa Tera. Tera aliwazaa Abramu, Nahori na Harani. Harani akamzaa Loti.
Nowe these are the generations of Terah: Terah begate Abram, Nahor, and Haran: and Haran begate Lot.
28 Tera alipokuwa bado hai, Harani akafa huko Uru ya Wakaldayo, nchi alimozaliwa.
Then Haran died before Terah his father in the land of his natiuitie, in Vr of the Caldees.
29 Abramu na Nahori walioa. Mke wa Abramu aliitwa Sarai, na mke wa Nahori aliitwa Milka; Milka na Iska walikuwa watoto wa Harani.
So Abram and Nahor tooke them wiues. The name of Abrams wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahors wife Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
30 Sarai alikuwa tasa, hakuwa na watoto.
But Sarai was barren, and had no childe.
31 Tera akamchukua Abramu mwanawe, Loti mwana wa Harani mwanawe, na Sarai mkwewe, mke wa Abramu mwanawe, wakatoka kwa pamoja katika Uru ya Wakaldayo kwenda nchi ya Kanaani. Lakini walipofika Harani, wakaishi huko.
Then Terah tooke Abram his sonne, and Lot the sonne of Haran, his sonnes sonne, and Sarai his daughter in lawe, his sonne Abrams wife: and they departed together from Vr of the Caldees, to goe into the land of Canaan, and they came to Haran, and dwelt there.
32 Tera alikufa huko Harani akiwa na miaka 205.
So the dayes of Terah were two hundreth and fiue yeeres, and Terah died in Haran.
