Ezra 3
1 Mwezi wa saba ulipowadia baada ya Waisraeli kukaa katika miji yao, watu wote walikusanyika huko Yerusalemu kama mtu mmoja.
It was the seventh month after the people of Israel came back to their cities, when they gathered together as one man in Jerusalem.
2 Yeshua mwana wa Yosadaki na makuhani wenzake, Zerubabeli mwana wa Shealtieli pamoja na wenzake walianza kujenga madhabahu ya Mungu wa Israeli ili kumtolea dhabihu za sadaka za kuteketezwa kwa moto juu yake, kulingana na ilivyoandikwa katika Sheria ya Mose mtu wa Mungu.
Jeshua son of Jozadak and his brothers the priests, and Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and his brothers rose up and built the altar of the God of Israel to offer burnt offerings as it is written in the law of Moses the man of God.
3 Ingawa waliwaogopa watu waliowazunguka, walijenga madhabahu juu ya ule msingi wake, wakamtolea Bwana dhabihu za sadaka za kuteketezwa kwa moto juu yake za asubuhi na za jioni.
Then they established the altar on its stand, for dread was on them because of the people of the land. They offered burnt offerings to Yahweh at dawn and evening.
4 Kisha kulingana na kile kilichoandikwa, wakaiadhimisha Sikukuu ya Vibanda wakitoa idadi ya sadaka za kuteketezwa kama ilivyohitajika kila siku sawasawa na ilivyoagizwa.
They also observed the Festival of Shelters as it is written and offered burnt offerings day by day according to the decree, each day's duty on its day.
5 Baada ya hayo, walitoa sadaka za kuteketezwa za kawaida, sadaka za Mwezi Mwandamo na dhabihu zote za sikukuu takatifu za Bwana zilizoamriwa, pamoja na zile sadaka za hiari zilizotolewa kwa Bwana.
Accordingly, there were daily burnt offerings and monthly ones and offerings for all the fixed feasts of Yahweh, along with all the freewill offerings.
6 Ingawa bado msingi wa Hekalu la Bwana ulikuwa haujawekwa, watu walianza kutoa sadaka za kuteketezwa kwa moto kwa Bwana tangu siku ya kwanza ya mwezi wa saba.
They began to offer up burnt offerings to Yahweh on the first day of the seventh month, although the temple had not been founded.
7 Kisha watu wakawapa mafundi wa uashi na useremala fedha, wakawapa watu wa Sidoni na Tiro vyakula, vinywaji na mafuta ili waweze kuleta magogo ya mierezi kwa njia ya bahari kutoka Lebanoni hadi Yafa, kama alivyoagiza Koreshi mfalme wa Uajemi.
So they gave silver to the stoneworkers and craftsmen, and they gave food, drink, and oil to the people of Sidon and Tyre, so they would bring cedar trees by sea from Lebanon to Joppa, as authorized for them by Cyrus, king of Persia.
8 Katika mwezi wa pili wa mwaka wa pili baada ya Waisraeli kufika kwenye nyumba ya Mungu huko Yerusalemu, Zerubabeli mwana wa Shealtieli, Yeshua mwana wa Yosadaki na ndugu zao wengine (makuhani, Walawi na wote waliorejea Yerusalemu kutoka uhamishoni) walianza kazi, wakiteua Walawi wenye umri kuanzia miaka ishirini au zaidi kusimamia ujenzi wa nyumba ya Bwana.
Then in the second month of the second year after they came to the house of God in Jerusalem, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, Jeshua son of Jozadak, the rest of the priests, the Levites, and those who came from captivity back to Jerusalem began the work. They assigned the Levites twenty years old and older to oversee the work of Yahweh's house.
9 Yeshua na wanawe, pamoja na ndugu zake, Kadmieli na wanawe (wazao wa Hodavia), wana wa Henadadi na wana wao na ndugu zao, Walawi wote walijiunga pamoja kusimamia wale waliofanya kazi katika nyumba ya Mungu.
Jeshua and his sons and brothers, and Kadmiel and his sons, who were descendants of Hodaviah), and the sons of Henadad and their sons and brothers-all of them were Levites-joined together in supervising those working on the house of God.
10 Wajenzi walipoweka msingi wa Hekalu la Bwana, makuhani wakiwa wamevalia mavazi yao wakiwa na tarumbeta na Walawi (wana wa Asafu) wakiwa na matoazi, walishika nafasi zao za kumtukuza Bwana, kama ilivyoagizwa na Daudi mfalme wa Israeli.
The builders laid a foundation for Yahweh's temple. This enabled the priests to stand in their garments with trumpets, and the Levites, sons of Asaph, to praise Yahweh with cymbals, just as the hand of David, king of Israel had commanded.
11 Waliimba nyimbo za sifa na za shukrani kwa Bwana hivi: “Yeye ni mwema; upendo wake kwa Israeli wadumu milele.” Watu wote wakapaza sauti kubwa za sifa kwa Bwana, kwa sababu msingi wa nyumba ya Bwana ulikuwa umewekwa.
They sang with praise and thankfulness to Yahweh, “He is good! His covenant faithfulness to Israel endures forever.” All the people cried out with a great shout of joy in praise of Yahweh because the temple's foundations had been laid.
12 Lakini wengi wa makuhani wazee, Walawi na viongozi wa jamaa waliokuwa wameona Hekalu la mwanzoni, walilia kwa sauti walipoona msingi wa Hekalu hili ukiwekwa, huku wengine wengi wakipiga kelele kwa furaha.
But many of the priests, Levites, and chief patriarchs, those who were old and had seen the first house, when this house's foundations were laid before their eyes, wept loudly. But many people had shouts of joy with gladness and an excited sound.
13 Hakuna mtu ambaye angeweza kutofautisha sauti hizo za furaha na za kilio, kwa sababu watu walipiga kelele sana. Nayo hiyo sauti ikasikika mbali.
As a result, people were not able to distinguish the joyful and glad sounds from the sound of people weeping, for the people were crying out with great joy, and the sound was heard from far away.
