Ezra 10
1 Wakati Ezra alipokuwa anaomba na kuungama, huku akilia na kujitupa chini mbele ya nyumba ya Mungu, umati mkubwa wa Waisraeli, wanaume, wanawake na watoto walikusanyika kumzunguka. Nao pia wakalia sana.
And while Ezra prayed, and made confession, weeping and falling down before the house of God, there were gathered to him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children; for the people wept very much.
2 Kisha Shekania mwana wa Yehieli, mmoja wa wazao wa Elamu, akamwambia Ezra, “Tumekosa uaminifu kwa Mungu wetu kwa kuoa wanawake wa kigeni kutoka mataifa yanayotuzunguka. Lakini pamoja na hili, bado liko tumaini kwa ajili ya Israeli.
And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, of the sons of Elam, answered and said to Ezra, We have acted unfaithfully toward our God, and have taken foreign wives of the peoples of the land; yet now there is hope for Israel concerning this thing.
3 Sasa na tufanye agano mbele za Mungu wetu kuwafukuza hawa wanawake wote pamoja na watoto wao, kulingana na maonyo ya bwana wangu pamoja na wale ambao wanaogopa amri za Mungu wetu. Hili na lifanyike sawasawa na hii Sheria.
And now let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of [my] lord, and of those that tremble at the commandments of our God; and let it be done according to the law.
4 Inuka, suala hili lipo mikononi mwako. Sisi tutaungana nawe, uwe na ujasiri ukatende hili.”
Arise, for this matter is incumbent on thee, and we will be with thee: be of good courage, and do [it].
5 Basi Ezra akainuka na kuwaapisha makuhani viongozi, Walawi na Israeli yote kufanya lile lililokuwa limependekezwa. Nao wakaapa.
Then Ezra arose, and made the chiefs of the priests, of the Levites, and of all Israel, to swear that they would do according to this word. And they swore.
6 Ndipo Ezra akaondoka hapo mbele ya nyumba ya Mungu akaenda kwenye chumba cha Yehohanani mwana wa Eliashibu. Wakati alipokuwa hapo, hakula chakula wala hakunywa maji, kwa sababu aliendelea kuomboleza kuhusu kukosa uaminifu kwa watu wa uhamishoni.
And Ezra arose from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Jehohanan the son of Eliashib; and when he came thither, he ate no bread and drank no water; for he mourned because of the unfaithfulness of them that had been carried away.
7 Ndipo lilipotolewa tangazo Yuda yote na Yerusalemu kwa watu wote waliokuwa uhamishoni kukusanyika Yerusalemu.
And they made proclamation in Judah and Jerusalem to all the children of the captivity, that they should gather themselves together unto Jerusalem;
8 Yeyote ambaye hangejitokeza kwa muda wa siku tatu angepoteza mali yake yote, kulingana na uamuzi wa maafisa na wazee, naye mtu huyo angefukuzwa kutoka kusanyiko la watu waliokuwa uhamishoni.
and that whosoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and the elders, all his substance should be confiscated, and himself separated from the congregation of those that had been carried away.
9 Katika muda wa siku tatu, watu wote wa Yuda na Benyamini wakawa wamekusanyika huko Yerusalemu. Kwenye siku ya ishirini ya mwezi wa tisa, watu wote walikuwa wameketi ndani ya uwanja mbele ya nyumba ya Mungu, wakiwa na majonzi mno kwa tukio hilo na kwa sababu ya mvua kubwa.
Then were all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered together at Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth of the month; and all the people sat in the open space of the house of God, trembling because of the matter, and because of the pouring rain.
10 Ndipo Kuhani Ezra aliposimama akawaambia, “Mmekosa uaminifu, mmeoa wanawake wa kigeni, mkaongezea hatia ya Israeli.
And Ezra the priest stood up and said to them, Ye have acted unfaithfully, and have taken foreign wives, to increase the trespass of Israel.
11 Sasa tubuni kwa Bwana, Mungu wa baba zenu mkafanye mapenzi yake. Jitengeni na mataifa wanaowazunguka na wake zenu wa kigeni.”
And now make confession to Jehovah the God of your fathers, and do his pleasure, and separate yourselves from the peoples of the land, and from the foreign wives.
12 Kusanyiko lote likajibu kwa sauti kubwa: “Uko sawa kabisa! Ni lazima tufanye kama unavyosema.
And the whole congregation answered and said with a loud voice, Yes, it is for us to do according to thy words.
13 Lakini hapa pana watu wengi na ni wakati wa mvua, hivyo hatuwezi kusimama nje. Hata hivyo, shauri hili haliwezi kumalizika kwa siku moja au mbili, kwa sababu tumefanya dhambi kubwa katika jambo hili.
But the people are many, and it is a time of pouring rain, and it is not possible to stand without: neither is this a work for one day or two; for we are many that have transgressed in this thing.
14 Maafisa wetu na wafanye kwa niaba ya kusanyiko lote. Kisha kila mmoja katika miji yetu ambaye ameoa mwanamke wa kigeni aje kwa wakati uliopangwa, akiwa pamoja na wazee na waamuzi wa kila mji, hadi hasira kali ya Mungu wetu katika shauri hili itakapoondolewa kwetu.”
Let now our princes, while this matter is going on, stand for all the congregation, and let all those that have taken foreign wives in our cities come at the appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce anger of our God be turned from us.
15 Yonathani mwana wa Asaheli na Yazeya mwana wa Tikwa peke yao, wakiungwa mkono na Meshulamu na Shabethai Mlawi, ndio waliopinga jambo hili.
Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahzeiah the son of Tikvah stood up against this; and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite helped them.
16 Basi watu wa uhamishoni wakafanya kama ilivyokuwa imependekezwa. Kuhani Ezra akachagua wanaume waliokuwa viongozi wa jamaa, mmoja kutoka kila mgawanyo wa jamaa, nao wote wakachaguliwa kwa majina. Katika siku ya kwanza ya mwezi wa kumi waliketi kuchunguza mashauri hayo.
And the children of the captivity did so. And Ezra the priest [and] certain of the chief fathers were separated according to their fathers' houses, and all of them [expressed] by name; and they sat down on the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.
17 Katika siku ya kwanza ya mwezi wa kwanza wakawa wamemaliza kushughulikia wanaume wote waliokuwa wameoa wanawake wa kigeni.
And they ended with all the men that had taken foreign wives by the first day of the first month.
18 Miongoni mwa wazao wa makuhani, wafuatao walikuwa wameoa wanawake wa kigeni: Kutoka wazao wa Yeshua mwana wa Yosadaki na ndugu zake: Maaseya, Eliezeri, Yaribu na Gedalia.
And among the sons of the priests there were found that had taken foreign wives, of the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren: Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah.
19 (Wote walitoa nadhiri kwa kuandika kwa mikono yao kuwafukuza wake zao, kwa hatia yao, kila mmoja akatoa kondoo dume kutoka kundini mwake kama sadaka ya hatia.)
And they gave their hand to send away their wives; and they offered a ram of the flock, as trespass-offering for their guilt.
20 Kutoka wazao wa Imeri: Hanani na Zebadia.
And of the children of Immer: Hanani, and Zebadiah.
21 Kutoka wazao wa Harimu: Maaseya, Eliya, Shemaya, Yehieli na Uzia.
And of the children of Harim: Maaseiah, and Elijah, and Shemaiah, and Jehiel, and Uzziah.
22 Kutoka wazao wa Pashuri: Elioenai, Maaseya, Ishmaeli, Nethaneli, Yozabadi na Elasa.
And of the children of Pashhur: Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethaneel, Jozabad, and Elasah.
23 Miongoni mwa Walawi: Yozabadi, Shimei, Kelaya (ndiye Kelita), Pethahia, Yuda na Eliezeri.
And of the Levites: Jozabad, and Shimei, and Kelaiah (that is, Kelita), Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.
24 Kutoka waimbaji: Eliashibu. Kutoka mabawabu: Shalumu, Telemu na Uri.
And of the singers: Eliashib. And of the doorkeepers: Shallum, and Telem, and Uri.
25 Miongoni mwa Waisraeli wengine: Kutoka wazao wa Paroshi: Ramia, Izia, Malkiya, Miyamini, Eleazari, Malkiya na Benaya.
And of Israel; of the children of Parosh: Ramiah, and Jizzijah, and Malchijah, and Mijamin, and Eleazar, and Malchijah, and Benaiah.
26 Kutoka wazao wa Elamu: Matania, Zekaria, Yehieli, Abdi, Yeremothi na Eliya.
And of the children of Elam: Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, and Abdi, and Jeremoth, and Elijah.
27 Kutoka wazao wa Zatu: Elioenai, Eliashibu, Matania, Yeremothi, Zabadi na Aziza.
And of the children of Zattu: Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, and Jeremoth, and Zabad, and Aziza.
28 Kutoka uzao wa Bebai: Yehohanani, Hanania, Zabai na Athlai.
And of the children of Bebai: Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, Athlai.
29 Kutoka wazao wa Bani: Meshulamu, Maluki, Adaya, Yashubu, Sheali na Yeremothi.
And of the children of Bani: Meshullam, Malluch, and Adaiah, Jashub, and Sheal, and Ramoth.
30 Kutoka wazao wa Pahath-Moabu: Adna, Kelali, Benaya, Maaseya, Matania, Bezaleli, Binui na Manase.
And of the children of Pahath-Moab: Adna, and Chelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezaleel, and Binnui, and Manasseh.
31 Kutoka wazao wa Harimu: Eliezeri, Ishiya, Malkiya, Shemaya, Shimeoni,
And the children of Harim: Eliezer, Jishijah, Malchijah, Shemaiah, Simeon,
32 Benyamini, Maluki, na Shemaria.
Benjamin, Malluch, Shemariah.
33 Kutoka wazao wa Hashumu: Matenai, Matata, Zabadi, Elifeleti, Yeremai, Manase na Shimei.
Of the children of Hashum: Mattenai, Mattattah, Zabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasseh, Shimei.
34 Kutoka wazao wa Bani: Maadai, Amramu, Ueli,
Of the sons of Bani: Maadai, Amram, and Uel,
35 Benaya, Bedeya, Keluhi,
Benaiah, Bediah, Cheluhu,
36 Vania, Meremothi, Eliashibu,
Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib,
37 Matania, Matenai na Yaasu.
Mattaniah, Mattenai, and Jaasai,
38 Kutoka wazao wa Binui: Shimei,
and Bani, and Binnui, Shimei,
39 Shelemia, Nathani, Adaya,
and Shelemiah, and Nathan, and Adaiah,
40 Maknadebai, Shashai, Sharai,
Machnadbai, Shashai, Sharai,
41 Azareli, Shelemia, Shemaria,
Azareel, and Shelemiah, Shemariah,
42 Shalumu, Amaria na Yosefu.

43 Kutoka wazao wa Nebo: Yeieli, Matithia, Zabadi, Zebina, Yadai, Yoeli na Benaya.
Of the children of Nebo: Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, Jaddai, and Joel, Benaiah.
44 Hawa wote walikuwa wameoa wanawake wa kigeni, na baadhi yao walikuwa wamezaa nao watoto.
All these had taken foreign wives; and there were among them wives who had had children.
