1 Kisha Mungu akamwambia Mose, “Njooni huku juu kwa Bwana, wewe na Aroni, Nadabu na Abihu, pamoja na wazee sabini wa Israeli. Mniabudu kwa mbali,
And unto Moses he said, Come up unto the Lord, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel; and ye shall bow yourselves down afar off.
2 lakini Mose peke yake ndiye atakayemkaribia Bwana; wengine wasije karibu. Nao watu wasije wakapanda pamoja naye.”
And Moses alone shall come near unto the Lord, but they shall not come nigh; and the people shall not go up with him.
3 Mose alipokwenda na kuwaambia watu maneno yote na sheria zote za Bwana, wakaitikia kwa sauti moja, “Kila kitu alichosema Bwana tutakifanya.”
And Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord, and all the laws of justice; and all the people answered with one voice, and said, all the words which the Lord hath spoken will we do.
4 Ndipo Mose akaandika kila kitu Bwana alichokuwa amesema. Akaamka kesho yake asubuhi na mapema na kujenga madhabahu chini ya mlima na kusimamisha nguzo kumi na mbili za mawe kuwakilisha makabila kumi na mawili ya Israeli.
And Moses wrote down all the words of the Lord, and he rose up early in the morning, and built an altar at the foot of the mount, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.
5 Kisha akawatuma vijana wanaume wa Kiisraeli, nao wakatoa sadaka za kuteketezwa na dhabihu za mafahali wachanga kuwa sadaka za amani kwa Bwana.
And he then sent the young men of the children of Israel, and they offered burnt-offerings, and sacrificed peace-offerings unto the Lord, of oxen.
6 Mose akachukua nusu ya damu ya wale wanyama na kuiweka kwenye mabakuli na nusu nyingine akainyunyiza juu ya madhabahu.
And Moses took the half of the blood, and put it in basins; and the [other] half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.
7 Kisha akachukua kile Kitabu cha Agano na kuwasomea watu. Nao wakajibu, “Tutafanya kila kitu alichosema Bwana, nasi tutatii.”
And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the hearing of the people; and they said, all that the Lord hath spoken will we do and obey.
8 Ndipo Mose akachukua ile damu, akawanyunyizia wale watu, akasema, “Hii ni damu ya agano ambalo Bwana amelifanya nanyi kufuatana na maneno haya yote.”
And Moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the Lord hath made with you concerning all these words.
9 Mose na Aroni, Nadabu na Abihu, pamoja na wazee sabini wa Israeli wakapanda mlimani,
Then went up Moses, with Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel.
10 nao wakamwona Mungu wa Israeli. Chini ya miguu yake kulikuwa na kitu kama sakafu ya mawe ya yakuti samawi, iliyo safi kama anga angavu.
And they saw the God of Israel; and the place under his feet was like a paved work of brilliant sapphire, and like the color of heaven in clearness.
11 Lakini Mungu hakuinua mkono wake dhidi ya hawa viongozi wa Waisraeli; walimwona Mungu, nao wakala na kunywa.
And against the nobles of the children of Israel he stretched not forth his hand; and they saw [the glory of] God, and did eat and drink.
12 Bwana akamwambia Mose, “Panda uje kwangu huku mlimani na ukae hapa, nami nitakupa vibao vya mawe, vyenye sheria na amri ambazo nimeziandika ziwe mwongozo wao.”
And the Lord said unto Moses, come up to me to the mount, and remain there: and I will give thee the tables of stone, with the law, and the commandment which I have written, to teach them.
13 Basi Mose akaondoka na Yoshua mtumishi wake, naye Mose akapanda juu kwenye mlima wa Mungu.
And Moses rose up, and his servant Joshua; and Moses went up to the mount of God.
14 Mose akawaambia wazee wa Israeli, “Tungojeni hapa mpaka tutakapowarudia. Aroni na Huri wako pamoja nanyi, na kila aliye na neno aweza kuwaendea wao.”
And unto the elders he said, Tarry ye for us here, until the time we come again unto you; and, behold, Aaron and Chur are with you, whoever may have any cause to be decided, let him come unto them.
15 Mose alipopanda juu mlimani, wingu liliufunika huo mlima,
And Moses went up to the mount, and the cloud covered the mount.
16 nao utukufu wa Bwana ukatua juu ya Mlima Sinai. Kwa muda wa siku sita wingu lilifunika mlima, na siku ya saba Bwana akamwita Mose kutoka katikati ya lile wingu.
And the glory of the Lord abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days; and he called unto Moses on the seventh day out of the midst of the cloud.
17 Kwa Waisraeli utukufu wa Bwana ulionekana kama moto uteketezao juu ya mlima.
And the appearance of the glory of the Lord was like a devouring fire on the top of the mount, before the eyes of the children of Israel.
18 Kisha Mose akaingia ndani ya lile wingu alivyokuwa akipanda mlimani. Naye akakaa huko mlimani kwa muda wa siku arobaini, usiku na mchana.
And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and ascended the mount; and Moses was on the mount forty days and forty nights.
