1 Wakati ule Bwana aliniambia, “Chonga vibao viwili vya mawe kama vile vya kwanza uje kwangu juu mlimani. Pia utengeneze Sanduku la mbao.
At that time, said Yahweh unto me—Cut thee out two tables of stone like the first, and come up unto me into the mountain, —and make thee an ark of wood;
2 Nitaandika juu ya vibao maneno yaliyokuwa katika vile vibao vya kwanza, ambavyo ulivivunja. Kisha utaviweka ndani ya Sanduku.”
that I may write, upon the tables, the words which were on the first tables which thou brakest in pieces, —then shalt thou put them in the ark.
3 Hivyo nikatengeneza Sanduku kwa mti wa mshita, nikachonga pia vibao vya mawe kama vile vya kwanza, kisha nikakwea mlimani nikiwa na vibao viwili mikononi mwangu.
So I made an ark of acacia wood, and cut out two tables of stone like the first, —and went up the mountain, having the two tables in my hand.
4 Bwana akaandika juu ya hivi vibao kile alichokuwa amekiandika kabla, Amri Kumi alizokuwa amewatangazia juu mlimani, kutoka kwenye moto siku ile ya kusanyiko. Bwana akanikabidhi.
And he wrote upon the tables according to the first writing—the ten words, which Yahweh had spoken unto you in the mountain, out of the midst of the fire in the day of the convocation, —and Yahweh delivered them unto me.
5 Kisha nikashuka kutoka mlimani na kuweka vibao ndani ya Sanduku nililokuwa nimelitengeneza, kama Bwana alivyoniagiza, navyo viko huko sasa.
Then turned I, and came down out of the mountain, and put the tables in the ark which I had made, —and they have remained there, as Yahweh commanded me.
6 (Waisraeli walisafiri kutoka visima vya Yaakani hadi Mosera. Huko Aroni alifariki na kuzikwa, naye Eleazari mwanawe akachukua nafasi yake kama kuhani.
And, the sons of Israel, set forward out of Beeroth Bene-jaakan to Moserah, —there, died Aaron and was buried there, and Eleazar his son became priest in his stead.
7 Kutoka pale, walisafiri hadi Gudgoda wakaendelea mpaka Yotbatha, nchi yenye vijito vya maji.
From thence, set they forward unto the Gudgodah, —and from the Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a land of torrents of water.
8 Wakati huo Bwana aliteua kabila la Lawi kulibeba Sanduku la Agano la Bwana, kusimama mbele za Bwana ili kutoa huduma, na kutangaza baraka kwa Jina lake, kama wanavyofanya mpaka leo.
At that time, did Yahweh separate the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, —to stand before Yahweh to wait upon him and to bless in his name (until this day).
9 Hiyo ndiyo sababu ya Walawi kutokuwa na sehemu wala urithi miongoni mwa ndugu zao; Bwana ndiye urithi wao, kama Bwana Mungu wao alivyowaambia.)
For this cause, hath Levi neither portion nor inheritance with his brethren, —Yahweh, is his inheritance, as Yahweh thy God spake unto him.
10 Basi nilikaa mlimani kwa siku arobaini usiku na mchana, kama nilivyofanya mara ya kwanza, pia Bwana alinisikiliza hata wakati huu. Haikuwa nia yake kuwaangamiza.
But, I, stayed in the mountain according to the former days, forty days and forty nights, —and Yahweh hearkened unto me at that time also, Yahweh was not willing, to destroy thee.
11 Bwana akaniambia, “Nenda, ukawaongoze watu katika njia yao ili kwamba waweze kuingia na kuimiliki nchi ile niliyowaapia baba zao kuwapa.”
So then Yahweh said unto me, Up with thee—to break away onward, before the people, —that they may enter in and possess the land, which I sware unto their fathers, to give unto them.
12 Na sasa, ee Israeli, Bwana Mungu wako anataka nini kwako ila kumcha Bwana Mungu wako, kwenda katika njia zake, kumpenda na kumtumikia Bwana Mungu wako kwa moyo wako wote na kwa roho yako yote,
Now, therefore, O Israel, what is, Yahweh thy God, asking of thee, —but to revere Yahweh thy God to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve Yahweh thy God, with all thy heart, and with all thy soul:
13 na kuyashika maagizo ya Bwana na amri zake ninazokupa leo kwa mafanikio yako mwenyewe?
to keep the commandments of Yahweh and his statutes, which I am commanding thee to-day, —for thy good?
14 Mbingu, hata mbingu za juu sana, dunia na kila kitu kilichomo ndani yake, ni mali ya Bwana Mungu wako.
Lo! unto Yahweh thy God, belong the heavens even the highest heavens, —the earth, with all that is therein.
15 Hata hivyo Bwana alikuwa na shauku na baba zako, akawapenda na akawachagua ninyi, wazao wao, kuliko mataifa yote, kama ilivyo leo.
Only unto thy fathers, Yahweh became attached so as to love them, —therefore made he choice of their seed after them—of you—out of all the peoples, (as at this day).
16 Kwa hiyo tahirini mioyo yenu, na msiwe na shingo ngumu tena.
Therefore must ye circumcise the foreskin of your hearts, —and your necks, must ye stiffen no more.
17 Kwa kuwa Bwana Mungu wenu ni Mungu wa miungu na Bwana wa mabwana, Mungu mkuu, mwenye uweza na wa kutisha, ambaye hana upendeleo na hapokei rushwa.
For as touching Yahweh your God, he, is God of gods, and Lord of lords; the great the mighty, and the fearful GOD, who respecteth not persons, nor accepteth a bribe;
18 Huwapigania yatima na wajane, humpenda mgeni, akimpa chakula na mavazi.
executing the vindication of the orphan and the widow, —and loving a sojourner, giving him food and raiment.
19 Nanyi wapendeni wageni, kwa kuwa ninyi wenyewe mlikuwa wageni huko Misri.
Therefore shall ye love the sojourner, —for sojourners, became ye in the land of Egypt.
20 Mche Bwana Mungu wako na umtumikie yeye. Shikamana naye kwa uthabiti na kuapa kwa jina lake.
Yahweh thy God, shalt thou revere, Him, shalt thou serve, —And unto him, shalt thou cleave, And in his name, shalt thou swear.
21 Yeye ni sifa yako; yeye ni Mungu wako, ambaye alikutendea yale maajabu makubwa na ya kutisha uliyoyaona kwa macho yako mwenyewe.
He, is thy song of praise, And, he, thy God, —who hath done with thee these great and fearful things, which thine own eyes have seen.
22 Baba zako walioshuka kwenda Misri jumla yao walikuwa sabini, na sasa Bwana Mungu wako amekufanya wengi kama nyota za angani.
As seventy souls, went thy fathers down to Egypt, —and, now, Yahweh thy God hath made thee like the stars of the heavens for multitude.
