Amosi 1
1 Maneno ya Amosi, mmoja wa wachunga wanyama wa Tekoa: yale aliyoyaona kuhusu Israeli miaka miwili kabla ya tetemeko la ardhi, wakati Uzia alikuwa mfalme wa Yuda, na Yeroboamu mwana wa Yehoashi alikuwa mfalme wa Israeli.
The words of Amos, one of the shepherds of Tekoa, which he prophesied concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam, the son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earth quake. He said: —
2 Alisema: “Bwana ananguruma toka Sayuni, pia ananguruma kutoka Yerusalemu; malisho ya wachunga wanyama yanakauka, kilele cha Karmeli kinanyauka.”
Jehovah will roar from Zion, And utter his voice from Jerusalem; The habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, And the top of Carmel shall wither.
3 Hili ndilo asemalo Bwana: “Kwa dhambi tatu za Dameski, hata kwa dhambi nne, sitaizuia ghadhabu yangu. Kwa sababu aliipura Gileadi kwa vyombo vya chuma vyenye meno.
Thus saith Jehovah; For three transgressions of Damascus, And for four, will I not turn away its punishment; For they thrashed Gilead with thrashing-wains of iron.
4 Nitatuma moto juu ya nyumba ya Hazaeli ambao utateketeza ngome za Ben-Hadadi.
I will send a fire upon the house of Hazael, Which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.
5 Nitalivunja lango la Dameski; nitamwangamiza mfalme aliyeko katika Bonde la Aveni, na yeye ambaye anaishika fimbo ya utawala katika Beth-Edeni. Watu wote wa Aramu watakwenda uhamishoni huko Kiri,” asema Bwana.
I will also break the bar of Damascus, And I will destroy the inhabitant from the valley of Aven, And him that holdeth the sceptre from Beth-Eden, And the people of Syria shall be led captive to Kir: Jehovah hath said it.
6 Hili ndilo asemalo Bwana: “Kwa dhambi tatu za Gaza, hata kwa dhambi nne, sitaizuia ghadhabu yangu. Kwa sababu walichukua mateka jumuiya nzima na kuwauza kwa Edomu,
Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Gaza, And for four, I will not turn away its punishment; For they led captive all that fell into their hands, And delivered them up to Edom.
7 nitatuma moto juu ya kuta za Gaza ambao utateketeza ngome zake.
But I will send a fire upon the wall of Gaza, Which shall devour her palaces.
8 Nitamwangamiza mfalme wa Ashdodi na yeye aishikaye fimbo ya utawala katika Ashkeloni. Nitaugeuza mkono wangu dhidi ya Ekroni, hadi Mfilisti wa mwisho atakapokufa,” asema Bwana Mwenyezi.
And I will destroy the inhabitant from Ashdod, And him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon; And I will turn my hand against Ekron, And the residue of the Philistines shall perish. The Lord, Jehovah, hath said it.
9 Hili ndilo asemalo Bwana: “Kwa dhambi tatu za Tiro, hata kwa dhambi nne, sitaizuia ghadhabu yangu. Kwa sababu ameuza jumuiya nzima ya mateka kwa Edomu, na kutokujali mapatano ya undugu,
Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Tyre, And for four, will I not turn away its punishment; Because they delivered up all their captives to Edom, And remembered not the brotherly covenant.
10 Nitatuma moto kwenye kuta za Tiro ambao utateketeza ngome zake.”
But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyre, Which shall devour her palaces.
11 Hili ndilo Bwana asemalo: “Kwa dhambi tatu za Edomu, hata kwa dhambi nne, sitaizuia ghadhabu yangu. Kwa sababu alimfuatia ndugu yake kwa upanga, alikataa kuonyesha huruma yoyote, kwa sababu hasira yake kali iliendelea kupanda wakati wote na ghadhabu iliwaka bila kuzuiliwa.
Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Edom, And for four, will I not turn away his punishment; For he pursued his brother with the sword, And cast off all pity, And his anger tore perpetually; Yea, he kept his wrath forever.
12 Nitatuma moto juu ya Temani ambao utateketeza ngome za Bosra.”
But I will send a fire upon Teman. Which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.
13 Hili ndilo asemalo Bwana: “Kwa dhambi tatu za Amoni, hata kwa dhambi nne, sitaizuia ghadhabu yangu. Kwa sababu aliwatumbua wanawake wajawazito wa Gileadi ili kuongeza mipaka yake.
Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, And for four, will I not turn away their punishment; For they ripped up the women with child of Gilead, That they might enlarge their border.
14 Nitatuma moto kwenye kuta za Raba ambao utateketeza ngome zake katikati ya vilio vya vita katika siku ya mapigano, katikati ya upepo mkali katika siku ya dhoruba.
But I will kindle a fire on the wall of Rabbah, Which shall devour her palaces, Amid the war-shout in the day of battle, In a whirlwind in the day of the storm.
15 Mfalme wake atakwenda uhamishoni, yeye pamoja na maafisa wake,” asema Bwana.
Their king shall go into captivity, He and his princes together, saith Jehovah.
