Matendo 1
1 Katika kitabu changu cha kwanza nilikuandikia, mpendwa Theofilo, kuhusu mambo yote Yesu aliyofanya na kufundisha tangu mwanzo,
In the former treatise (Deare frende Theophilus) I have written of all that Iesus beganne to do and teache
2 hadi siku ile alipochukuliwa kwenda mbinguni, baada ya kuwapa maagizo kupitia kwa Roho Mtakatifu wale mitume aliowachagua.
vntyll the daye in the which he was taken vp after that he thorowe the holy goost had geven commaundementes vnto the Apostles which he had chosen:
3 Baada ya mateso yake, alijionyesha kwao na kuwathibitishia kwa njia nyingi kwamba yeye yu hai. Katika muda wa siku arobaini baada ya kufufuka kwake aliwatokea na kunena kuhusu Ufalme wa Mungu.
to whom also he shewed him selfe alyve after his passion by many tokens apperynge vnto them fourty dayes and speakynge of the kyngdome of god
4 Wakati mmoja alipokuwa pamoja nao, aliwapa amri hii, “Msitoke Yerusalemu, bali ingojeni ahadi ya Baba, ambayo mmenisikia nikisema habari zake.
and gaddered them togeder and commaunded the that they shuld not departe from Ierusalem: but to wayte for ye promys of the father whereof ye have herde of me.
5 Yohana aliwabatiza kwa maji, lakini baada ya siku chache mtabatizwa kwa Roho Mtakatifu.”
For Iohn baptised wt water: but ye shalbe baptised with the holy goost and that with in this feawe dayes.
6 Mitume walipokuwa wamekusanyika pamoja, wakamuuliza Yesu, “Bwana, je, huu ndio wakati wa kuwarudishia Israeli ufalme?”
When they were come togeder they axed of him sayinge: Lorde wilt thou at this tyme restore agayne ye kyngdome to Israel?
7 Yesu akawaambia, “Si juu yenu kujua nyakati na majira ambayo Baba ameyaweka katika mamlaka yake mwenyewe.
And he sayde vnto them: It is not for you to knowe the tymes or the seasons which ye father hath put in his awne power:
8 Lakini mtapokea nguvu akiisha kuwajilia juu yenu Roho Mtakatifu, nanyi mtakuwa mashahidi wangu katika Yerusalemu, Uyahudi kote na Samaria, hadi miisho ya dunia.”
but ye shall receave power of the holy goost which shall come on you. And ye shall be witnesses vnto me in Ierusalem and in all Iewrye and in Samary and even vnto the worldes ende.
9 Baada ya kusema mambo haya, walipokuwa wanatazama, akachukuliwa juu mbinguni mbele ya macho yao na wingu likampokea wasimwone tena.
And when he had spoken these thinges whyll they behelde he was take vp and a cloude receaved him vp out of their sight.
10 Walipokuwa bado wakikaza macho yao kuelekea juu alipokuwa akienda zake Mbinguni, tazama ghafula, wanaume wawili waliovaa mavazi meupe wakasimama karibu nao,
And while they looked stedfastly vp to heaven as he went beholde two men stode by them in white apparell
11 wakasema, “Enyi watu wa Galilaya, mbona mnasimama mkitazama juu angani? Huyu Yesu aliyechukuliwa kutoka kwenu kwenda Mbinguni, atarudi tena jinsi iyo hiyo mlivyomwona akienda zake Mbinguni.”
which also sayde: ye men of Galile why stonde ye gasinge vp into heave? This same Iesus which is taken vp fro you in to heaven shall so come even as ye haue sene him goo into heaven.
12 Ndipo waliporudi Yerusalemu kutoka Mlima wa Mizeituni, uliokuwa karibu na Yerusalemu, umbali wa mwendo wa Sabato kutoka mjini.
Then returned they vnto Ierusalem from mount olivete which is nye to Ierusalem coteyninge a Saboth dayes iorney.
13 Walipowasili mjini Yerusalemu, walikwenda ghorofani kwenye chumba walichokuwa wakiishi. Wale waliokuwepo walikuwa: Petro, Yohana, Yakobo, Andrea, Filipo, Tomaso, Bartholomayo, Mathayo, Yakobo mwana wa Alfayo, Simoni Zelote na Yuda mwana wa Yakobo.
And when they were come in they went vp into a parler where abode both Peter and Iames Iohn and Andrew Philip and Thomas Bartlemew and Mathew Iames the sonne of Alpheus and Simo Zelotes and Iudas Iames sonne.
14 Hawa wote waliungana pamoja katika maombi. Pamoja nao walikuwepo wanawake kadha, na Maria mama yake Yesu, pamoja na ndugu zake Yesu.
These all cotinued with one acorde in prayer and supplicacion with the wemen and Mary the mother of Iesu and with his brethren.
15 Katika siku hizo Petro akasimama katikati ya waumini (jumla yao wote walikuwa watu wapatao 120), akasema,
And in those dayes Peter stode vp in the myddes of the disciples and sayde (the noumbre of names that were to gether were aboute an hondred and twenty)
16 “Ndugu zangu, ilibidi Andiko litimie ambalo Roho Mtakatifu alitabiri kupitia kwa Daudi kumhusu Yuda aliyewaongoza wale waliomkamata Yesu.
Ye men and brethren this scripture must have nedes ben fulfilled which the holy goost thorow ye mouth of David spake before of Iudas which was gyde to them that tooke Iesus.
17 Yuda alikuwa mmoja wetu, kwa maana na yeye alichaguliwa ashiriki katika huduma hii.”
For he was noubred with vs and had obtayned fellouship in this ministracion.
18 (Basi Yuda alinunua shamba kwa zile fedha za uovu alizopata; akiwa huko shambani akaanguka, akapasuka na matumbo yote yakatoka nje.
And the same hath now possessed a plot of grounde with the rewarde of iniquite and when he was hanged brast a sondre in ye myddes and all his bowels gusshed oute.
19 Kila mtu Yerusalemu akasikia habari hizi, kwa hiyo wakapaita mahali hapo kwa lugha yao, Akeldama, yaani Shamba la Damu).
And it is knowe vnto all the inhabiters of Ierusalem: in so moche that that felde is called in their mother tonge Acheldama that is to saye the bloud felde.
20 “Kama vile ilivyoandikwa katika kitabu cha Zaburi, “‘Mahali pake na pawe ukiwa, wala asiwepo yeyote atakayeishi humo,’ na, “‘Mtu mwingine aichukue nafasi yake ya uongozi.’
It is written in the boke of Psalmes: His habitacio be voyde and no man be dwellinge therin: and his bisshoprycke let another take.
21 Kwa hiyo inatubidi tumchague mtu mwingine miongoni mwa wale ambao wamekuwa pamoja nasi wakati wote Bwana Yesu alipoingia na kutoka katikati yenu,
Wherfore of these me which have copanyed with vs all ye tyme that the Lorde Iesus wet in and out amonge vs
22 kuanzia ubatizo wa Yohana mpaka siku aliyochukuliwa kutoka kwetu kwenda Mbinguni. Kwa kuwa mmoja wao inabidi awe shahidi pamoja nasi wa ufufuo wake.”
begynninge at the baptyme of Iohn vnto that same daye that he was taken vp from vs must one be ordeyned to be are witnes with vs of his resurreccion.
23 Wakapendekeza majina ya watu wawili: Yosefu, aitwaye Barsaba (ambaye pia alijulikana kama Yusto) na Mathiya.
And they appoynted two Ioseph called Barsabas (whose syr name was Iustus) and Mathias.
24 Kisha wakaomba, wakasema, “Bwana, wewe waujua moyo wa kila mtu. Tuonyeshe ni yupi kati ya hawa wawili uliyemchagua
And they prayed sayinge: thou Lorde which knowest the hertes of all me shewe whether of these two thou hast chosen
25 ili achukue nafasi ya huduma ya utume ambayo Yuda aliiacha ili aende mahali pake mwenyewe.”
that the one maye take the roume of this ministracion and apostleshippe from the which Iudas by transgression fell that he myght go to his awne place.
26 Kisha wakawapigia kura, nayo kura ikamwangukia Mathiya, naye akaongezwa kwenye wale mitume kumi na mmoja.
And they gave forthe their lottes and the lot fell on Mathias and he was counted with the eleven Apostles.
