2 Timotheo 1
1 Paulo mtume wa Kristo Yesu kwa mapenzi ya Mungu, kulingana na ile ahadi ya uzima uliomo ndani ya Kristo Yesu.
Paul, apostle of Jesus Christ by God's will, according to promise of life, the [life] which [is] in Christ Jesus,
2 Kwa Timotheo, mwanangu mpendwa: Neema, rehema na amani itokayo kwa Mungu Baba, na kwa Kristo Yesu Bwana wetu.
to Timotheus, [my] beloved child: grace, mercy, peace, from God [the] Father, and Christ Jesus our Lord.
3 Ninamshukuru Mungu, ninayemtumikia kwa dhamiri safi, kama walivyofanya baba zangu, ninapokukumbuka usiku na mchana katika maombi yangu.
I am thankful to God, whom I serve from [my] forefathers with pure conscience, how unceasingly I have the remembrance of thee in my supplications night and day,
4 Nikiyakumbuka machozi yako, ninatamani sana kukuona ili nipate kujawa na furaha.
earnestly desiring to see thee, remembering thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;
5 Nimekuwa nikiikumbuka imani yako ya kweli, waliokuwa nayo bibi yako Loisi na mama yako Eunike na ambayo mimi ninasadiki sasa wewe pia unayo.
calling to mind the unfeigned faith which [has been] in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and in thy mother Eunice, and I am persuaded that in thee also.
6 Kwa sababu hii nakukumbusha uchochee ile karama ya Mungu, iliyowekwa ndani yako nilipokuwekea mikono yangu.
For which cause I put thee in mind to rekindle the gift of God which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
7 Maana Mungu hakutupa roho ya woga, bali roho ya nguvu, ya upendo na ya moyo wa kiasi.
For God has not given us a spirit of cowardice, but of power, and of love, and of wise discretion.
8 Kwa hiyo usione haya kushuhudia kuhusu Bwana wetu, wala usinionee haya mimi niliye mfungwa kwa ajili yake. Bali uishiriki pamoja nami taabu ya Injili, kwa kadiri ya nguvu ya Mungu,
Be not therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner; but suffer evil along with the glad tidings, according to the power of God;
9 ambaye alituokoa na kutuita katika mwito mtakatifu: si kwa kadiri ya matendo yetu mema bali kwa sababu ya kusudi lake mwenyewe na neema yake. Neema hii tulipewa katika Kristo Yesu tangu milele. (aiōnios g166)
who has saved us, and has called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to [his] own purpose and grace, which [was] given to us in Christ Jesus before [the] ages of time, (aiōnios g166)
10 Lakini sasa imefunuliwa kwa kudhihirishwa kwake Mwokozi wetu, Kristo Yesu, ambaye amebatilisha mauti na kuleta uzima na kutokufa kwa njia ya Injili.
but has been made manifest now by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who has annulled death, and brought to light life and incorruptibility by the glad tidings;
11 Nami nimewekwa kuwa mhubiri, mtume na mwalimu wa Injili hii.
to which I have been appointed a herald and apostle and teacher of [the] nations.
12 Hii ndiyo sababu ninateseka namna hii, lakini sioni haya kwa maana ninamjua yeye niliyemwamini, na kusadiki ya kuwa anaweza kukilinda kile nilichokiweka amana kwake hadi siku ile.
For which cause also I suffer these things; but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep for that day the deposit I have entrusted to him.
13 Shika kwa uthabiti kielelezo cha mafundisho yenye uzima yale uliyoyasikia kwangu, pamoja na imani na upendo katika Kristo Yesu.
Have an outline of sound words, which [words] thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which [are] in Christ Jesus.
14 Ilinde ile amana uliyokabidhiwa kwa Roho Mtakatifu akaaye ndani yetu.
Keep, by the Holy Spirit which dwells in us, the good deposit entrusted.
15 Unajua ya kuwa watu wote katika Asia wameniacha, miongoni mwao wamo Filego na Hermogene.
Thou knowest this, that all who [are] in Asia, of whom is Phygellus and Hermogenes, have turned away from me.
16 Bwana akawahurumie watu wa nyumbani mwa Onesiforo, kwa sababu aliniburudisha mara kwa mara wala hakuionea aibu minyororo yangu.
The Lord grant mercy to the house of Onesiphorus, for he has often refreshed me, and has not been ashamed of my chain;
17 Badala yake, alipokuwa Rumi, alinitafuta kwa bidii mpaka akanipata.
but being in Rome sought me out very diligently, and found [me] —
18 Bwana na amjalie kupata rehema zake siku ile! Nawe unajua vyema jinsi alivyonisaidia huko Efeso.
the Lord grant to him to find mercy from [the] Lord in that day — and how much service he rendered in Ephesus thou knowest best.
