2 Wafalme 13
1 Katika mwaka wa ishirini na tatu wa utawala wa Yoashi mwana wa Ahazia mfalme wa Yuda, Yehoahazi mwana wa Yehu alianza kutawala Israeli katika Samaria, naye akatawala miaka kumi na saba.
In the twenty-third year of the reign of Joash son of Ahaziah over Judah, Jehoahaz son of Jehu became king of Israel, and he reigned in Samaria seventeen years.
2 Akafanya maovu machoni pa Bwana kwa kufuata dhambi za Yeroboamu mwana wa Nebati, ambazo alikuwa amesababisha Israeli kuzitenda, na wala hakuziacha.
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD and followed the sins that Jeroboam son of Nebat had caused Israel to commit; he did not turn away from them.
3 Kwa hiyo hasira ya Bwana ikawaka dhidi ya Israeli na kwa muda mrefu akawaweka chini ya utawala wa Hazaeli mfalme wa Aramu, na Ben-Hadadi mwanawe.
So the anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He delivered them continually into the hands of Hazael king of Aram and his son Ben-hadad.
4 Ndipo Yehoahazi akamsihi Bwana rehema, naye Bwana akamsikiliza, kwa maana aliona jinsi mfalme wa Aramu alivyokuwa akiwatesa Israeli vikali.
Then Jehoahaz sought the favor of the LORD, and the LORD listened to him because He saw the oppression that the king of Aram had inflicted on Israel.
5 Bwana akamtoa mwokozi kwa ajili ya Israeli, nao wakaokoka kutoka kwenye mamlaka ya Aramu. Hivyo Waisraeli wakaishi katika nyumba zao wenyewe kama ilivyokuwa hapo awali.
So the LORD gave Israel a deliverer, and they escaped the power of the Arameans. Then the people of Israel lived in their own homes as they had before.
6 Lakini hawakuziacha dhambi za nyumba ya Yeroboamu, ambazo alisababisha Israeli kuzitenda, bali wakaendelea kuzitenda. Nguzo ya Ashera pia iliendelea kusimama katika Samaria.
Nevertheless, they did not turn away from the sins that the house of Jeroboam had caused Israel to commit, but they continued to walk in them. The Asherah pole even remained standing in Samaria.
7 Hapakubaki kitu chochote katika jeshi la Yehoahazi isipokuwa wapanda farasi hamsini, magari kumi ya vita na askari wa miguu elfu kumi, kwa kuwa mfalme wa Aramu alikuwa amewaangamiza hao wengine na kuwafanya kama mavumbi wakati wa kupura nafaka.
Jehoahaz had no army left, except fifty horsemen, ten chariots, and ten thousand foot soldiers, because the king of Aram had destroyed them and made them like the dust at threshing.
8 Matukio mengine ya utawala wa Yehoahazi yote aliyoyafanya na mafanikio yake, je, hayakuandikwa katika kitabu cha kumbukumbu za wafalme wa Israeli?
As for the rest of the acts of Jehoahaz, along with all his accomplishments and his might, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
9 Yehoahazi akalala pamoja na baba zake, akazikwa huko Samaria. Naye Yehoashi mwanawe akawa mfalme baada yake.
And Jehoahaz rested with his fathers and was buried in Samaria. And his son Jehoash reigned in his place.
10 Katika mwaka wa thelathini na saba wa utawala wa Yoashi mfalme wa Yuda, Yehoashi mwana wa Yehoahazi alianza kutawala Israeli huko Samaria, naye akatawala miaka kumi na sita.
In the thirty-seventh year of the reign of Joash over Judah, Jehoash son of Jehoahaz became king of Israel in Samaria, and he reigned sixteen years.
11 Alifanya maovu machoni pa Bwana, na hakuacha dhambi yoyote kati ya zile za Yeroboamu mwana wa Nebati ambazo alikuwa amesababisha Israeli kuzitenda, bali aliendelea kuzitenda.
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD and did not turn away from all the sins that Jeroboam son of Nebat had caused Israel to commit, but he walked in them.
12 Na kwa matukio mengine ya utawala wa Yehoashi, yote aliyoyafanya na mafanikio yake, pamoja na vita yake dhidi ya Amazia mfalme wa Yuda, je, hayakuandikwa katika kitabu cha kumbukumbu za wafalme wa Israeli?
As for the rest of the acts of Jehoash, along with all his accomplishments and his might, including his war against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
13 Yehoashi akalala pamoja na baba zake, akazikwa Samaria pamoja na wafalme wa Israeli. Yeroboamu akawa mfalme baada yake.
And Jehoash rested with his fathers, and Jeroboam succeeded him on the throne. Jehoash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.
14 Wakati huu, Elisha alikuwa anaumwa na ugonjwa ambao baadaye ulimuua. Yehoashi mfalme wa Israeli akashuka kwenda kumwona na kumlilia. Akalia, “Baba yangu! Baba yangu! Magari ya vita ya Israeli na wapanda farasi wake!”
When Elisha had fallen sick with the illness from which he would die, Jehoash king of Israel came down to him and wept over him, saying, “My father, my father, the chariots and horsemen of Israel!”
15 Elisha akasema, “Leta upinde na baadhi ya mishale,” naye mfalme akafanya hivyo.
Elisha told him, “Take a bow and some arrows.” So Jehoash took a bow and some arrows.
16 Elisha akamwambia mfalme wa Israeli, “Shika upinde mikononi mwako.” Alipokwisha kuichukua, Elisha akaweka mikono yake juu ya mikono ya mfalme.
Then Elisha said to the king of Israel, “Put your hand on the bow.” So the king put his hand on the bow, and Elisha put his hands on the king’s hands.
17 Elisha akasema, “Fungua dirisha la mashariki,” naye akalifungua. Elisha akasema, “Piga mshale!” Naye akapiga mshale. Elisha akasema, “Mshale wa ushindi wa Bwana, mshale wa ushindi juu ya Aramu! Utawaangamiza Waaramu kabisa huko Afeki.”
“Open the east window,” said Elisha. So he opened it and Elisha said, “Shoot!” So he shot. And Elisha declared: “This is the LORD’s arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over Aram, for you shall strike the Arameans in Aphek until you have put an end to them.”
18 Kisha akasema, “Chukua mishale,” naye mfalme akaichukua. Elisha akamwambia, “Piga ardhi kwa hiyo mishale.” Akaipiga mara tatu, halafu akaacha.
Then Elisha said, “Take the arrows!” So he took them, and Elisha said to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground!” So he struck the ground three times and stopped.
19 Mtu wa Mungu akamkasirikia na akasema, “Ungepiga chini mara tano au sita, ndipo ungeishinda Aramu na kuiangamiza kabisa. Lakini sasa utaishinda mara tatu tu.”
But the man of God was angry with him and said, “You should have struck the ground five or six times. Then you would have struck down Aram until you had put an end to it. But now you will strike down Aram only three times.”
20 Elisha akafa, nao wakamzika. Vikosi vya Wamoabu vilikuwa vinashambulia nchi kwa vita kila mwaka wakati wa vuli.
And Elisha died and was buried. Now the Moabite raiders used to come into the land every spring.
21 Ikawa Waisraeli fulani walipokuwa wanamzika mtu, ghafula wakaona kikosi cha washambuliaji, basi wakaitupa ile maiti ya yule mtu ndani ya kaburi la Elisha. Wakati ile maiti ilipogusa mifupa ya Elisha, yule mtu akafufuka na kusimama kwa miguu yake.
Once, as the Israelites were burying a man, suddenly they saw a band of raiders, so they threw the man’s body into Elisha’s tomb. And as soon as his body touched the bones of Elisha, the man was revived and stood up on his feet.
22 Hazaeli mfalme wa Aramu aliwatesa Israeli wakati wote wa utawala wa Yehoahazi.
And Hazael king of Aram oppressed Israel throughout the reign of Jehoahaz.
23 Lakini Bwana akawarehemu na akawahurumia, akaonyesha kujishughulisha nao kwa sababu ya Agano lake na Abrahamu, Isaki na Yakobo. Hadi leo, hajawaangamiza wala kuwafukuza mbele zake.
But the LORD was gracious to Israel and had compassion on them, and He turned toward them because of His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. And to this day, the LORD has been unwilling to destroy them or cast them from His presence.
24 Hazaeli mfalme wa Shamu akafa, naye Ben-Hadadi mwanawe akawa mfalme baada yake.
When Hazael king of Aram died, his son Ben-hadad reigned in his place.
25 Kisha Yehoashi mwana wa Yehoahazi akateka tena kutoka kwa Ben-Hadadi mwana wa Hazaeli ile miji aliyokuwa ameitwaa kwa vita kutoka kwa baba yake Yehoahazi. Yehoashi alimshinda mara tatu, hivyo akaweza kuiteka tena ile miji ya Waisraeli.
Then Jehoash son of Jehoahaz took back from Ben-hadad son of Hazael the cities that Hazael had taken in battle from his father Jehoahaz. Jehoash defeated Ben-hadad three times, and so recovered the cities of Israel.
