1 Yothamu alikuwa na umri wa miaka ishirini na mitano alipoanza kutawala, naye akatawala huko Yerusalemu miaka kumi na sita. Mama yake aliitwa Yerusha binti Sadoki.
twenty-five years old, was Jotham when he began to reign, and, sixteen years, reigned he in Jerusalem, —and, the name of his mother, was Jerushah, daughter of Zadok.
2 Akafanya yaliyo mema machoni pa Bwana kama Uzia baba yake alivyokuwa amefanya, lakini tofauti na yeye, hakuingilia huduma za hekaluni mwa Bwana. Lakini hata hivyo, watu wakaendelea na desturi zao mbaya.
And he did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that Uzziah his father had done, only he entered not into the temple of Yahweh, —though still were the people acting corruptly.
3 Yothamu akajenga upya Lango la Juu la Hekalu la Bwana na kufanya kazi kubwa kwenye ukuta katika kilima cha Ofeli.
He, built the upper gate of the house of Yahweh, -and, on the wall of Ophel, built he extensively.
4 Akajenga miji katika vilima vya Yuda pamoja na ngome na minara mwituni.
Cities also, built he, in the hill country of Judah, —and, in the thick woods, built he fortresses and towers.
5 Yothamu akafanya vita na mfalme wa Waamoni na kumshinda. Mwaka ule Waamoni wakamlipa talanta 100 za fedha, kori 10,000 za ngano na kori 10,000 za shayiri. Waamoni wakamletea kiasi hicho hicho mwaka wa pili na wa tatu.
He, also made war against the king of the sons of Ammon, and prevailed against them, and the sons of Ammon gave him, during that year, a hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand measures of wheat, and, of barley, ten thousand, —this, did the sons of Ammon render him, both in the second year, and the third.
6 Yothamu akaendelea kuwa na nguvu kwa sababu alienenda kwa ukamilifu mbele za Bwana Mungu wake.
So Jotham strengthened himself, —for he fixed his ways before Yahweh his God.
7 Matukio mengine ya utawala wa Yothamu, pamoja na vita vyake vyote na vitu vingine alivyofanya, vimeandikwa katika kitabu cha wafalme wa Israeli na Yuda.
But, the rest of the story of Jotham, and all his wars, and his ways, lo! there they are written in the book of the Kings of Israel and Judah.

Twenty-five years old, was he when he began to reign, —and, sixteen years, reigned he in Jerusalem.
9 Yothamu akalala na baba zake na akazikwa katika Mji wa Daudi. Naye Ahazi mwanawe akawa mfalme baada yake.
And Jotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him, in the city of David, —and Ahaz his son reigned in his stead.
