1 Amazia alikuwa na umri wa miaka ishirini na mitano alipoanza kutawala, naye akatawala huko Yerusalemu kwa miaka ishirini na tisa. Mama yake aliitwa Yehoadani kutoka Yerusalemu.
Amaziah [was] a son of twenty-five years [when] he has reigned, and he has reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Jehoaddan of Jerusalem,
2 Akatenda yaliyo mema machoni pa Bwana, lakini sio kwa moyo wake wote.
and he does that which is right in the eyes of YHWH—only, not with a perfect heart.
3 Baada ya ufalme kuimarika mikononi mwake, aliwaua maafisa waliomuua mfalme baba yake.
And it comes to pass, when the kingdom has been strong on him, that he slays his servants, those striking his father the king,
4 Hata hivyo hakuwaua watoto wao, lakini akafanya sawasawa na ilivyoandikwa katika Sheria, katika Kitabu cha Mose, ambako Bwana aliamuru: “Baba hawatauawa kwa ajili ya watoto wao, wala watoto hawatauawa kwa ajili ya baba zao. Kila mmoja atakufa kwa ajili ya dhambi zake mwenyewe.”
and he has not put their sons to death, but [did] as is written in the Law, in the Scroll of Moses, whom YHWH commanded, saying, “Fathers do not die for sons, and sons do not die for fathers, but they each die for his own sin.”
5 Amazia akawaita watu wa Yuda pamoja, akawaweka chini ya majemadari wa maelfu na majemadari wa mamia kufuatana na jamaa zao katika Yuda yote na Benyamini. Kisha akawahesabu wale wenye umri wa miaka ishirini au zaidi na akakuta kwamba walikuwa wanaume 300,000 watu walio tayari kwa utumishi wa jeshi, walio na uwezo wa kutumia mkuki na ngao.
And Amaziah gathers Judah and appoints them according to the house of the fathers, for heads of the thousands and for heads of the hundreds, for all Judah and Benjamin; and he inspects them from a son of twenty years and upward, and finds them [to be] three hundred thousand chosen ones, going forth to the host, holding spear and buckler.
6 Akawaajiri pia watu 100,000 wapiganaji kutoka Israeli kwa talanta 100 za fedha.
And he hires out of Israel one hundred thousand mighty men of valor, with one hundred talents of silver;
7 Lakini mtu wa Mungu akamjia na kumwambia, “Ee mfalme, haya majeshi kutoka Israeli kamwe usiyaruhusu yaende pamoja na wewe kwa kuwa Bwana hayuko pamoja na Israeli, wala hayupo pamoja na yeyote wa watu wa Efraimu.
and a man of God has come to him, saying, “O king, the host of Israel does not go with you; for YHWH is not with Israel—all the sons of Ephraim;
8 Hata kama ukienda na kupigana kwa ujasiri katika vita, Mungu atakufanya ukimbie mbele ya adui, kwa kuwa Mungu anao uwezo wa kusaidia au wa kuangusha.”
but if you are going, do [it], be strong for battle, God causes you to stumble before an enemy, for there is power in God to help, and to cause to stumble.”
9 Amazia akamuuliza yule mtu wa Mungu, “Lakini itakuwaje kwa zile talanta 100 za fedha nilizolipa kwa ajili ya haya majeshi ya Israeli?” Yule mtu wa Mungu akajibu, “Bwana aweza kukupa zaidi sana ya hizo.”
And Amaziah says to the man of God, “But what to do about the hundred talents that I have given to the troop of Israel?” And the man of God says, “YHWH has more to give to you than this.”
10 Hivyo Amazia akayaondoa yale majeshi yaliyokuwa yamekuja kutoka Efraimu na kuyarudisha nyumbani. Waliwakasirikia sana Yuda, nao wakarudi nyumbani wakiwa na hasira kali.
And Amaziah separates them, of the troop that has come to him from Ephraim, to go to their own place; and their anger burns mightily against Judah, and they return to their place in the heat of anger.
11 Ndipo Amazia akajitia nguvu na kuliongoza jeshi lake kwenye Bonde la Chumvi, ambako aliua watu 10,000 wa Seiri.
And Amaziah has strengthened himself, and leads his people, and goes to the Valley of Salt, and strikes ten thousand of the sons of Seir.
12 Jeshi la Yuda pia likawateka watu 10,000 wakiwa hai, likawapandisha juu ya jabali na kuwatupa chini kwa nguvu hata wote wakavunjika vipande vipande.
And the sons of Judah have taken captive ten thousand alive, and they bring them to the top of the rock, and cast them from the top of the rock, and all of them have been broken.
13 Wakati huo yale majeshi Amazia aliyoyarudisha na ambayo hakuyaruhusu kushiriki katika vita, yalivamia miji ya Yuda kuanzia Samaria hata Beth-Horoni. Yakawaua watu 3,000 na kuchukua kiasi kikubwa sana cha mateka.
And the sons of the troop that Amaziah has sent back from going with him to battle—they rush against cities of Judah, from Samaria even to Beth-Horon, and strike three thousand of them, and seize much prey.
14 Amazia aliporudi kutoka kuwachinja Waedomu, alileta pia kutoka huko miungu ya watu wa Seiri. Akaisimamisha kama miungu yake mwenyewe, akaisujudia na kuitolea kafara za kuteketezwa.
And it comes to pass after the coming in of Amaziah from striking the Edomites, that he brings in the gods of the sons of Seir, and establishes them for gods for himself, and bows himself before them, and he makes incense to them.
15 Hasira ya Bwana ikawaka dhidi ya Amazia, naye akamtuma nabii kwake, ambaye alisema: “Kwa nini unauliza kwa miungu ya hawa watu, ambayo haikuweza kuwaokoa watu wake wenyewe kutoka mkononi mwako?”
And the anger of YHWH burns against Amaziah, and He sends a prophet to him, and he says to him, “Why have you sought the gods of the people that have not delivered their people out of your hand?”
16 Wakati nabii alipokuwa angali anazungumza, mfalme akamwambia, “Je, wewe tumekuchagua kuwa mshauri wa mfalme? Nyamaza, ya nini uuawe?” Hivyo nabii akanyamaza lakini akasema, “Najua kuwa Mungu ameazimia kukuangamiza kwa sababu umefanya jambo hili na hukusikiliza shauri langu.”
And it comes to pass, in his speaking to him, that he says to him, “Have we appointed you for a counselor to the king? For you [must] cease; why do they strike you?” And the prophet ceases and says, “I have known that God has counseled to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.”
17 Baada ya Amazia mfalme wa Yuda kushauriana na washauri wake akatuma ujumbe kwa Yehoashi, mwana wa Yehoahazi mwana wa Yehu, mfalme wa Israeli kusema: “Njoo tukabiliane uso kwa uso.”
And Amaziah king of Judah takes counsel, and sends to Joash son of Jehoahaz, son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying,
18 Lakini Yehoashi mfalme wa Israeli akamjibu Amazia mfalme wa Yuda, “Mbaruti uliokuwa Lebanoni ulituma ujumbe kwa mwerezi uliokuwa Lebanoni, ‘Mtoe binti yako aolewe na mwanangu.’ Kisha mnyama wa mwituni aliyekuwa Lebanoni akaja na kuukanyaga ule mbaruti.
“Come, we look one another in the face.” And Joash king of Israel sends to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, “The thorn that [is] in Lebanon has sent to the cedar that [is] in Lebanon, saying, Give your daughter to my son for a wife; and a beast of the field that [is] in Lebanon passes by and treads down the thorn.
19 Wewe unasema moyoni mwako kwamba umemshinda Edomu, nawe sasa unajigamba na kujivuna. Lakini kaa nyumbani kwako! Kwa nini utafute matatizo na kujiletea anguko lako mwenyewe na la Yuda pia?”
You have said, Behold, I have struck Edom; and your heart has lifted you up to boast; now, abide in your house, why do you stir yourself up in evil, that you have fallen, you and Judah with you?”
20 Hata hivyo, Amazia hakutaka kusikia, kwa kuwa Mungu alifanya hivyo ili awatie mikononi mwa Yehoashi, kwa sababu waliitafuta miungu ya Edomu.
And Amaziah has not listened, for it [is] from God in order to give them into [their] hand, because they have sought the gods of Edom;
21 Hivyo Yehoashi mfalme wa Israeli akakwea kuwashambulia. Yeye na Amazia mfalme wa Yuda wakakabiliana uso kwa uso huko Beth-Shemeshi katika Yuda.
and Joash king of Israel goes up, and they look one another in the face, he and Amaziah king of Judah, in Beth-Shemesh, that [is] Judah’s,
22 Yuda ikashindwa na Israeli na kila mtu akakimbilia nyumbani kwake.
and Judah is struck before Israel, and they flee—each to his tents.
23 Yehoashi mfalme wa Israeli akamteka Amazia mfalme wa Yuda, mwana wa Yoashi, mwana wa Ahazia, huko Beth-Shemeshi. Kisha Yehoashi akamleta Yerusalemu na kuubomoa ukuta wa Yerusalemu kuanzia lango la Efraimu hadi Lango la Pembeni, sehemu yenye urefu wa kama dhiraa 400.
And Joash king of Israel has caught Amaziah king of Judah, son of Joash, son of Jehoahaz, in Beth-Shemesh, and brings him to Jerusalem, and breaks down in the wall of Jerusalem from the Gate of Ephraim to the Corner Gate—four hundred cubits,
24 Akachukua dhahabu yote, fedha na vyombo vyote vilivyopatikana katika Hekalu la Mungu, ambavyo vilikuwa chini ya uangalizi wa Obed-Edomu, pamoja na hazina za jumba la mfalme na mateka, kisha akarudi Samaria.
and [takes] all the gold, and the silver, and all the vessels that are found in the house of God with Obed-Edom, and the treasures of the house of the king, and the sons of the pledges, and turns back to Samaria.
25 Amazia mwana wa Yoashi mfalme wa Yuda aliishi miaka kumi na mitano baada ya kifo cha Yehoashi mwana wa Yehoahazi mfalme wa Israeli.
And Amaziah son of Joash, king of Judah, lives after the death of Joash son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel, fifteen years;
26 Kwa habari ya matukio mengine katika utawala wa Amazia, kuanzia mwanzo hadi mwisho, je, hayakuandikwa katika kitabu cha wafalme wa Yuda na wa Israeli?
and the rest of the matters of Amaziah, the first and the last, behold, are they not written on the scrolls of the kings of Judah and Israel?
27 Kuanzia wakati ule Amazia alipogeuka na kuacha kumfuata Bwana walifanya shauri baya dhidi yake huko Yerusalemu naye akakimbilia Lakishi, lakini wakawatuma watu wamfuatilie huko Lakishi nao wakamuulia huko.
And from the time that Amaziah has turned aside from after YHWH—they make a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem, and he flees to Lachish, and they send after him to Lachish, and put him to death there,
28 Akarudishwa kwa farasi na akazikwa pamoja na baba zake katika Mji wa Yuda.
and lift him up on the horses, and bury him with his fathers in the city of Judah.
