1 Wathesalonike 5
1 Basi, ndugu, kwa habari ya nyakati na majira hatuna haja ya kuwaandikia,
But of the times and moments, brethren, you need not, that we should write to you;
2 kwa kuwa mnajua vyema kwamba siku ya Bwana itakuja kama mwizi ajapo usiku.
For yourselves know perfectly, that the day of the Lord shall so come, as a thief in the night.
3 Wakati watu wanaposema, “Kuna amani na salama,” maangamizi huwajia ghafula, kama vile utungu umjiavyo mwanamke mwenye mimba; nao hakika hawatatoroka.
For when they shall say, peace and security; then shall sudden destruction come upon them, as the pains upon her that is with child, and they shall not escape.
4 Bali ninyi, ndugu, hampo gizani hata siku ile iwakute ghafula kama mwizi.
But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5 Ninyi nyote ni wana wa nuru na wana wa mchana. Sisi si wana wa giza wala wa usiku.
For all you are the children of light, and children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6 Kwa hiyo basi, tusilale kama watu wengine walalavyo, bali tukeshe na kuwa na kiasi.
Therefore, let us not sleep, as others do; but let us watch, and be sober.
7 Kwa kuwa wote walalao hulala usiku na wale walewao hulewa usiku.
For they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that are drunk, are drunk in the night.
8 Lakini kwa kuwa sisi ni wana wa mchana, basi tuwe na kiasi, tukijivika imani na upendo kama dirii kifuani na tumaini letu la wokovu kama chapeo.
But let us, who are of the day, be sober, having on the breastplate of faith and charity, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.
9 Kwa maana Mungu hakutuita ili tupate ghadhabu bali tupate wokovu kwa njia ya Bwana wetu Yesu Kristo.
For God hath not appointed us unto wrath, but unto the purchasing of salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 Yeye alikufa kwa ajili yetu ili hata kama tuko macho au tumelala, tupate kuishi pamoja naye.
Who died for us; that, whether we watch or sleep, we may live together with him.
11 Kwa hiyo farijianeni na kujengana, kama vile mnavyofanya sasa.
For which cause comfort one another; and edify one another, as you also do.
12 Sasa tunawaomba, ndugu, waheshimuni wale wanaofanya kazi kwa bidii miongoni mwenu, wale ambao wana mamlaka juu yenu katika Bwana na ambao wanawaonya.
And we beseech you, brethren, to know them who labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you:
13 Waheshimuni sana katika upendo kwa ajili ya kazi zao. Ishini kwa amani ninyi kwa ninyi.
That you esteem them more abundantly in charity, for their work’s sake. Have peace with them.
14 Nasi twawasihi, ndugu, waonyeni walio wavivu, watieni moyo waoga, wasaidieni wanyonge na kuwavumilia watu wote.
And we beseech you, brethren, rebuke the unquiet, comfort the feeble minded, support the weak, be patient towards all men.
15 Angalieni kuwa mtu asimlipe mwenzake maovu kwa maovu, bali siku zote tafuteni kutendeana mema ninyi kwa ninyi na kwa watu wote.
See that none render evil for evil to any man; but ever follow that which is good towards each other, and towards all men.
16 Furahini siku zote;
Always rejoice.
17 ombeni bila kukoma;
Pray without ceasing.
18 shukuruni kwa kila jambo, kwa maana haya ndiyo mapenzi ya Mungu kwa ajili yenu katika Kristo Yesu.
In all things give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you all.
19 Msiuzime moto wa Roho Mtakatifu;
Extinguish not the spirit.
20 msiyadharau maneno ya unabii.
Despise not prophecies.
21 Jaribuni kila kitu. Yashikeni yaliyo mema.
But prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22 Jiepusheni na uovu wa kila namna.
From all appearance of evil refrain yourselves.
23 Mungu mwenyewe, Mungu wa amani, awatakase ninyi kabisa. Nanyi mhifadhiwe roho zenu, nafsi zenu na miili yenu, bila kuwa na lawama katika Bwana wetu Yesu Kristo.
And may the God of peace himself sanctify you in all things; that your whole spirit, and soul, and body, may be preserved blameless in the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Yeye aliyewaita ni mwaminifu naye atafanya hayo.
He is faithful who hath called you, who also will do it.
25 Ndugu, tuombeeni.
Brethren, pray for us.
26 Wasalimuni ndugu wote kwa busu takatifu.
Salute all the brethren with a holy kiss.
27 Nawaagizeni mbele za Bwana mhakikishe kuwa ndugu wote wanasomewa barua hii.
I charge you by the Lord, that this epistle be read to all the holy brethren.
28 Neema ya Bwana wetu Yesu Kristo iwe nanyi. Amen.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
