1 Petro, mtume wa Yesu Kristo: Kwa wateule wa Mungu, wageni katika ulimwengu, waliotawanyika kote katika Ponto, Galatia, Kapadokia, Asia na Bithinia.
PETROS, an apostle of Jeshu Meshiha, to the chosen-ones and sojourners who are scattered in Pontos and in Galatia, and in Kapadukia, and in Asia, and in Bithunia:
2 Ni ninyi ambao mlichaguliwa tangu mwanzo na Mungu Baba kulingana na alivyotangulia kuwajua, kupitia kwa kazi ya utakaso wa Roho, katika utiifu kwa Yesu Kristo na kunyunyiziwa damu yake: Neema na amani ziwe kwenu kwa wingi.
them who are elected by the foreknowledge of Aloha the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, that they might be unto obedience, and unto the sprinkling of the blood of Jeshu Meshiha: grace and peace be multiplied with you.
3 Ahimidiwe Mungu, Baba wa Bwana wetu Yesu Kristo! Kwa rehema zake kuu ametuzaa sisi mara ya pili katika tumaini lenye uzima kupitia kwa kufufuka kwa Yesu Kristo kutoka kwa wafu,
Blessed be Aloha, the Father of our Lord Jeshu Meshiha, who by his abundant grace hath begotten us anew through the resurrection of our Lord Jeshu Meshiha unto the hope of salvation,
4 ili tuupate urithi usioharibika, usio na uchafu, ule usionyauka: uliotunzwa mbinguni kwa ajili yenu,
and to the inheritance which is not corruptible, and not defiled, and not to be consumed, which is prepared for you in heaven,
5 ninyi ambao mnalindwa na nguvu za Mungu kwa njia ya imani, hadi uje ule wokovu ulio tayari kufunuliwa nyakati za mwisho.
while you are kept by the power of Aloha and through faith, unto the salvation which is prepared to be revealed in the last times;
6 Katika hili mnafurahi sana, ingawa sasa kwa kitambo kidogo mmehuzunishwa kwa majaribu ya namna nyingi.
wherein you will rejoice for ever, though in this little time you are afflicted by manifold temptations which pass over you;
7 Haya yamewajia ili kwamba imani yenu, iliyo ya thamani kuliko dhahabu ipoteayo, ingawa hujaribiwa kwa moto, ionekane kuwa halisi na imalizie katika sifa, utukufu na heshima wakati Yesu Kristo atadhihirishwa.
that the proof of your faith may be seen, which is more precious than gold refined which is proved in fire, unto praise and unto honour and unto glory, at the revelation of Jeshu Meshiha;
8 Ingawa hamjamwona, mnampenda; tena ingawa sasa hammwoni, mnamwamini na kujawa na furaha isiyoneneka yenye utukufu usioelezeka.
whom you have not seen and (yet) love, and in whose faith you exult with glorious joy that is not spoken:
9 Maana mnaupokea wokovu wa roho zenu, ambao ndio lengo la imani yenu.
that you may receive the recompence of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
10 Kwa habari ya wokovu huu, wale manabii waliosema kuhusu neema ambayo ingewajia ninyi, walitafuta kwa bidii na kwa uangalifu mkubwa,
That salvation which the prophets investigated when they prophesied concerning the grace which was to be given unto you,
11 wakijaribu kujua ni wakati upi na katika mazingira gani ambayo Roho wa Kristo aliyekuwa ndani yao alionyesha, alipotabiri kuhusu mateso ya Kristo na utukufu ule ambao ungefuata.
and searched into, what time the Spirit of the Meshiha who dwelt in them showed and testified of the future sufferings of the Meshiha, and his glory which (should be) after them.
12 Walidhihirishiwa kwamba walikuwa hawajihudumii wao wenyewe, bali waliwahudumia ninyi, waliponena kuhusu mambo hayo, ambayo sasa yamehubiriwa kwenu na wale waliowahubiria ninyi Injili kwa Roho Mtakatifu aliyetumwa kutoka mbinguni. Hata malaika wanatamani kuyafahamu mambo haya.
And all that they searched was revealed to them; for not for themselves they inquired, but to us (and) of us they prophesied those (blessings) which now are revealed to you by them who have preached to you by the Spirit of Holiness which is sent from heaven; for into these themselves the angels also desire to look.
13 Kwa hiyo, tayarisheni nia zenu kwa kazi; mwe na kiasi, mkitumainia kikamilifu ile neema mtakayopewa Yesu Kristo atakapodhihirishwa.
Wherefore gird up the loins of your minds, and be fully wakeful, and hope for the joy that cometh to you at the revelation of our Lord Jeshu Meshiha;
14 Kama watoto watiifu, msifuate tamaa zenu mbaya wakati mlipoishi kwa ujinga.
as obedient children, and not partaking again of the former desires which you desired when ignorant.
15 Bali kama yeye aliyewaita alivyo mtakatifu, nanyi kuweni watakatifu katika mwenendo wenu wote.
But be holy in all your conversations, as he is holy who calleth you;
16 Kwa maana imeandikwa: “Kuweni watakatifu, kwa kuwa mimi ni mtakatifu.”
because it is written, Be ye holy, as I also am holy.
17 Kwa sababu mnamwita Baba ahukumuye kila mtu kulingana na matendo yake pasipo upendeleo, enendeni kwa hofu ya kumcha Mungu wakati wenu wa kukaa hapa duniani kama wageni.
And if you call him Father before whom there is no respect of persons, and who judgeth every man according to his works, with fear conduct you in this time of your sojourn;
18 Kwa maana mnafahamu kwamba mlikombolewa kutoka mwenendo wenu usiofaa ambao mliurithi kutoka kwa baba zenu, si kwa vitu viharibikavyo kama fedha na dhahabu,
while you know that not with silver which wasteth away, nor with gold, you have been redeemed from your vain works which you received from your fathers,
19 bali kwa damu ya thamani ya Kristo, yule Mwana-Kondoo asiye na dosari wala doa.
but with the precious blood of the Lamb spotless and unblemished, who is the Meshiha;
20 Yeye alichaguliwa kabla ya kuwekwa kwa misingi ya ulimwengu, lakini akadhihirishwa katika siku hizi za mwisho kwa ajili yenu.
who was afore-separated for this from before the foundations of the world, and hath been manifested in these last times for you,
21 Kupitia kwake mmemwamini Mungu, aliyemfufua kutoka kwa wafu na akampa utukufu, ili imani yenu na tumaini lenu ziwe kwa Mungu.
who by him believe in Aloha, who raised him from the dead, and gave him glory, that your faith and your hope may be in Aloha.
22 Basi kwa kuwa mmejitakasa nafsi zenu kwa kuitii ile kweli hata mkawa na upendo wa ndugu usio na unafiki, basi pendaneni kwa dhati kutoka moyoni.
Let your souls be sanctified in obedience to the truth, and be filled with the charity which respecteth not persons, that with a pure heart and perfect you may love one another,
23 Kwa maana mmezaliwa upya, si kwa mbegu ile iharibikayo, bali kwa ile isiyoharibika, kupitia kwa neno la Mungu lililo hai na linalodumu milele. (aiōn g165)
as men who are regenerated, not by a perishable seed, but by that which is imperishable, by the living word of Aloha which abideth for ever. (aiōn g165)
24 Maana, “Wanadamu wote ni kama majani, nao utukufu wao ni kama maua ya kondeni; majani hunyauka na maua huanguka,
Because all flesh is grass, and all its beauty as the flower of the field. The grass withereth and the flower drieth up,
