1 Baada ya Daudi kujijengea nyumba zake katika Mji wa Daudi, akatengeneza sehemu kwa ajili ya Sanduku la Mungu, kisha akasimamisha hema kwa ajili yake.
And [David] made himself houses in the city of David, and he prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.
2 Kisha Daudi akasema, “Hakuna mtu yeyote anayeruhusiwa kulibeba Sanduku la Mungu isipokuwa Walawi peke yao, kwa sababu Bwana aliwachagua kulibeba Sanduku la Bwana na kuhudumu mbele zake milele.”
Then said David, None shall carry the ark of God but the Levites; for of them hath the Lord made choice to carry the ark of God, and to minister unto him for ever.
3 Daudi akawakusanya Israeli wote huko Yerusalemu ili kulipandisha Sanduku la Bwana na kulileta hadi kwenye sehemu aliyokuwa ametengeneza kwa ajili yake.
And David assembled all Israel to Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the Lord unto its place, which he had prepared for it.
4 Kisha Daudi akawakusanya pamoja wazao wa Aroni na Walawi:
And David gathered together the children of Aaron, and the Levites.
5 Kutoka wazao wa Kohathi, Urieli kiongozi na ndugu zake 120,
Of the sons of Kehath: Uriel the chief, and his brethren one hundred and twenty.
6 Kutoka wazao wa Merari, Asaya kiongozi na ndugu zake 220.
Of the sons of Merari: 'Assayah the chief, and his brethren two hundred and twenty.
7 Kutoka wazao wa Gershoni, Yoeli kiongozi na ndugu zake 130.
Of the sons of Gershom: Joel the chief, and his brethren one hundred and thirty.
8 Kutoka wazao wa Elisafani, Shemaya kiongozi na ndugu zake 200.
Of the sons of Elizaphan: Shema'yah the chief, and his brethren two hundred.
9 Kutoka wazao wa Hebroni, Elieli kiongozi na ndugu zake 80.
Of the sons of Hebron: Eliel the chief, and his brethren eighty.
10 Kutoka wazao wa Uzieli, Aminadabu kiongozi na ndugu zake 112.
Of the sons of 'Uzziel: 'Amminadab the chief, and his brethren one hundred and twelve.
11 Kisha Daudi akawaita makuhani Sadoki na Abiathari, pamoja na Walawi Urieli, Asaya, Yoeli, Shemaya, Elieli na Aminadabu.
And David called for Zadok and Ebyathar the priests, and for the Levites, for Uriel, 'Assayah, and Joel, Shema'yah, and Eliel, and 'Amminadab,
12 Akawaambia, “Ninyi ndio viongozi wa jamaa za Walawi. Ninyi pamoja na Walawi wenzenu inawapasa mjitakase na kulipandisha Sanduku la Bwana, Mungu wa Israeli hadi mahali ambapo nimetengeneza kwa ajili yake.
And he said unto them, Ye are the chiefs of the family divisions of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, ye and your brethren, and bring up the ark of the Lord the God of Israel unto [the place which] I have prepared for it.
13 Ilikuwa ni kwa sababu hii, ninyi Walawi, hamkulipandisha Sanduku la Bwana mara ya kwanza, hata ikasababisha Bwana Mungu wetu kuwaka hasira dhidi yetu. Hatukumuuliza jinsi ya kufanya ili tupate kulileta jinsi alivyoagiza.”
For, because ye [did] it not at the first, the Lord our God made a breach among us; because we had not sought him after the prescribed manner.
14 Kwa hiyo makuhani pamoja na Walawi wakajitakasa ili kulipandisha Sanduku la Bwana, Mungu wa Israeli.
So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the Lord the God of Israel.
15 Nao Walawi wakalichukua Sanduku la Mungu mabegani mwao wakitumia mipiko, kama vile Mose alivyoamuru sawasawa na neno la Bwana.
And the children of the Levites bore the ark of God, as Moses had commanded according to the word of the Lord, on their shoulders, by means of barrows placed upon them.
16 Daudi akawaambia viongozi wa Walawi kuwaweka ndugu zao waimbaji ili waimbe nyimbo za shangwe, wakiwa na vyombo vya uimbaji: zeze, vinubi na matoazi.
And David said to the chiefs of the Levites to appoint their brethren the singers with instruments of music, psalteries and harps and cymbals, to sing aloud, by lifting up the voice for joy.
17 Basi Walawi wakawaweka Hemani mwana wa Yoeli; kutoka miongoni mwa ndugu zake, Asafu mwana wa Berekia; kutoka miongoni mwa ndugu zao Wamerari, Ethani mwana wa Kushaiya;
So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel, and of his brethren, Assaph the son of Berechyahu, and of the sons of Merari their brethren, Ethan the son of Kushayahu;
18 hawa ndio waliochaguliwa kuwa wasaidizi wao: Zekaria, Yaazieli, Shemiramothi, Yehieli, Uni, Eliabu, Benaya, Maaseya, Matithia, Elifelehu, Mikneya, pamoja na mabawabu Obed-Edomu na Yehieli.
And with them their brethren of the second degree, Zecharyahu, Ben, and Ja'aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jechiel, and 'Unni, Eliab, and Benayahu, and Ma'asseyahu, and Matthithyahu, and Eliphelehu, and Mikneyahu, and 'Obed-edom, and Je'iel, the gatekeepers.
19 Waimbaji Hemani, Asafu na Ethani walichaguliwa kupiga matoazi ya shaba;
Namely, the singers, Heman, Assaph, and Ethan, to play aloud with cymbals of copper;
20 Zekaria, Azieli, Shemiramothi, Yehieli, Uni, Eliabu, Maaseya na Benaya walikuwa wapiga zeze kufuatana na sauti ya alamothi,
And Zechariah, and 'Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jechiel, and 'Unni, and Eliab, and Ma'asseyahu, and Benayahu, with psalteries on 'Alamoth;
21 na Matithia, Elifelehu, Mikneya, Obed-Edomu, Yehieli na Azazia walikuwa wapiga vinubi, wakiongozwa kwa kufuata sauti ya sheminithi.
And Matthithyahu, and Eliphelehu, and Mikneyahu, and 'Obed-edom, and Je-iel, and 'Azazyahu, with harps on the Sheminith to play as leaders.
22 Kenania kiongozi wa Walawi alikuwa msimamizi wa uimbaji; huu ndio uliokuwa wajibu wake kwa sababu alikuwa stadi katika hilo.
And Kenanyahu was the chief of the Levites in conducting the singing: he instructed in conducting the singing, because he was skilful.
23 Berekia na Elikana walikuwa mabawabu kwa ajili ya Sanduku.
And Berechyah and Elkanah were gatekeepers for the ark.
24 Shebania, Yoshafati, Nethaneli, Amasai, Zekaria, Benaya na Eliezeri, makuhani, walikuwa wapiga tarumbeta mbele ya Sanduku la Mungu. Obed-Edomu na Yehiya waliwekwa pia kuwa mabawabu wa Sanduku.
And Shebanyahu, and Joshaphat, and Nethanel, and 'Amassai, and Zecharyahu, and Benayahu, and Eli'ezer, the priests, did blow on the trumpets before the ark of God; and 'Obed-edom and Jechiyah were gatekeepers for the ark.
25 Basi Daudi pamoja na wazee wa Israeli na majemadari wa vikosi vya elfu wakaenda ili kulipandisha Sanduku la Agano la Bwana kutoka nyumba ya Obed-Edomu kwa shangwe.
And it was David, with the elders of Israel, and the officers over the thousands, who went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the house of 'Obed-edom with joy.
26 Kwa sababu Mungu alikuwa amewasaidia Walawi waliokuwa wanalichukua Sanduku la Agano la Bwana, mafahali saba na kondoo dume saba walitolewa dhabihu.
And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord, that they offered seven bullocks and seven rams.
27 Basi Daudi alikuwa amevaa joho la kitani safi, kama walivyokuwa wamevaa Walawi wote waliokuwa wanalichukua lile Sanduku, waimbaji nao walivaa vivyo hivyo, pamoja na Kenania aliyekuwa anaongoza nyimbo za waimbaji. Daudi alivaa pia kisibau cha kitani safi.
And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and [so were] all the Levites that carried the ark, and the singers, and Kenanyahu the chief in conducting the singing of the singers; but David had also upon him an ephod of linen.
28 Hivyo Israeli wote wakalipandisha Sanduku la Agano la Bwana kwa shangwe, wakipiga pembe za kondoo dume, tarumbeta, matoazi, wakipiga zeze na vinubi.
Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the Lord with shouting, and with the sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, playing aloud on psalteries and harps.
29 Sanduku la Agano la Bwana lilipokuwa linaingia katika Mji wa Daudi, Mikali binti Sauli akachungulia dirishani. Naye alipomwona Mfalme Daudi akicheza na kusherehekea, akamdharau moyoni mwake.
And it happened, as the ark of the covenant of the Lord came as far as the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looked through the window, and saw king David dancing and playing, and she despised him in her heart.
