1 Basi Hiramu mfalme wa Tiro akawatuma wajumbe kwa Daudi, wakiwa na magogo ya mierezi, waashi na maseremala ili kumjengea jumba la kifalme.
And Huram king of Tyre sends messengers to David, and cedar-wood, and craftsmen of walls, and craftsmen of wood, to build a house for him.
2 Naye Daudi akatambua kwamba Bwana amemwimarisha kuwa mfalme juu ya Israeli na kwamba ufalme wake umetukuzwa kwa ajili ya Israeli, watu wake.
And David knows that YHWH has established him for king over Israel, because of the lifting up on high of his kingdom, for the sake of His people Israel.
3 Huko Yerusalemu Daudi akaoa wake wengine zaidi na akawa baba wa wana na mabinti wengi.
And David takes wives again in Jerusalem, and David begets sons and daughters again;
4 Haya ndiyo majina ya watoto waliozaliwa kwake huko: Shamua, Shobabu, Nathani, Solomoni,
and these [are] the names of the children whom he has in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,
5 Ibihari, Elishua, Elpeleti,
and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,
6 Noga, Nefegi, Yafia,
and Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
7 Elishama, Beeliada na Elifeleti.
and Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.
8 Wafilisti waliposikia kuwa Daudi ametiwa mafuta kuwa mfalme wa Israeli yote, wakapanda na jeshi lao lote kwenda kumsaka, lakini Daudi akapata habari hizo, naye akatoka ili kwenda kukabiliana nao.
And the Philistines hear that David has been anointed for king over all Israel, and all the Philistines go up to seek David, and David hears, and goes out before them.
9 Basi Wafilisti walikuwa wameingia na kushambulia Bonde la Warefai,
And the Philistines have come, and rush into the Valley of Rephaim,
10 Hivyo Daudi akamuuliza Mungu: “Je, niende kuwashambulia hao Wafilisti? Je, utawatia mikononi mwangu?” Bwana akamjibu, “Nenda, nitawatia mikononi mwako.”
and David asks of God, saying, “Do I go up against the Philistines—and have You given them into my hand?” And YHWH says to him, “Go up, and I have given them into your hand.”
11 Hivyo Daudi pamoja na watu wake wakakwea mpaka Baal-Perasimu, akawashinda huko. Akasema, “Kama maji yafurikavyo, Mungu amewafurikia adui zangu kwa kutumia mkono wangu.” Kwa hiyo mahali pale pakaitwa Baal-Perasimu.
And they go up into Ba‘al-Perazim, and David strikes them there, and David says, “God has broken up my enemies by my hand, like the breaking up of waters”; therefore they have called the name of that place Ba‘al-Perazim.
12 Wafilisti walikuwa wameacha miungu yao huko, Daudi akaamuru iteketezwe kwa moto.
And they leave their gods there, and David commands, and they are burned with fire.
13 Kwa mara nyingine Wafilisti wakavamia lile bonde;
And the Philistines add again, and rush into the valley,
14 hivyo Daudi akamuuliza Mungu tena, naye Mungu akamjibu, “Usiwapandie moja kwa moja, bali wazungukie na uwashambulie kutoka mbele ya hiyo miti ya miforosadi.
and David asks again of God, and God says to him, “Do not go up after them, turn around from them, and you have come to them from the front [[or in front]] of the mulberries;
15 Mara usikiapo sauti ya kwenda juu ya hiyo miti ya miforosadi, hapo ndipo utoke upigane vita, kwa sababu hiyo itaonyesha kwamba Mungu amekutangulia ili kupiga jeshi la Wafilisti.”
and it comes to pass, when you hear the sound of the stepping at the heads of the mulberries, then you go out into battle, for God has gone out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.”
16 Kwa hiyo Daudi akafanya kama alivyoagizwa na Mungu, wakalipiga jeshi la Wafilisti kuanzia Gibeoni hadi Gezeri.
And David does as God commanded him, and they strike the camp of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer;
17 Hivyo umaarufu wa Daudi ukaenea katika kila nchi, naye Bwana akayafanya mataifa yote kumwogopa Daudi.
and the name of David goes out into all the lands, and YHWH has put his fear on all the nations.
