Zacarías 8

1 Y vino a mí la palabra del Señor de los ejércitos, diciendo:

And the word of the Lord of hosts came, saying:

2 Estas son las palabras del Señor de los ejércitos: He celado a Sión, con un gran celo, con gran furor la cele.

Thus says the Lord of hosts: I have been zealous for Zion with a great zeal, and with a great indignation have I been zealous for her.

3 Esto es lo que el Señor ha dicho: he regresado a Sión, y viviré en Jerusalén; y Jerusalén será nombrada la ciudad fiel; y la montaña del Señor de los ejércitos. La montaña sagrada.

Thus says the Lord of hosts: I have been turned back towards Zion, and I will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. And Jerusalem will be called: “The City of Truth,” and “The Mountain of the Lord of Hosts, the Sanctified Mountain.”

4 Esto es lo que ha dicho el Señor de los ejércitos: Habrá de nuevo ancianos y ancianas sentados en las plazas de Jerusalén, cada uno con su bastón en la mano porque son muy ancianos.

Thus says the Lord of hosts: Then elderly men and elderly women will dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and every man will be with his walking stick in his hand, because of the multitude of days.

5 Y las plazas de la ciudad estarán llenos de niños y niñas jugando en sus plazas.

And the streets of the city will be filled with toddlers and children, playing in its streets.

6 Esto es lo que el Señor de los ejércitos ha dicho: Si esto es una maravilla para el remanente de esta gente, ¿es una maravilla para mí? dice el señor de los ejércitos.

Thus says the Lord of hosts: If it seems difficult in the eyes of the remnant of this people in those days, could it indeed be difficult in my eyes, says the Lord of hosts?

7 Esto es lo que ha dicho el Señor de los ejércitos: Mira, seré el salvador de mi pueblo del país oriental y del país occidental;

Thus says the Lord of hosts: Behold, I will save my people from the land of the East, and from the land of the setting of the sun.

8 Y los haré venir y vivir en Jerusalén y serán para mí un pueblo y para ellos seré un Dios, en verdad y en justicia.

And I will lead them, and they will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. And they will be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in justice.

9 Esto es lo que el Señor de los ejércitos ha dicho: Sean fuertes sus manos, ustedes que ahora escuchan estas palabras de la boca de los profetas, es decir, desde el día en que los cimientos de la casa de El señor de los ejércitos se ha establecido para la reconstrucción de la casa, que es el Templo.

Thus says the Lord of hosts: Let your hands be strengthened, you who, in those days, are listening to these words by the mouth of the prophets, in the day that the house of the Lord of hosts has been founded, so that the temple may be built.

10 Porque antes de aquellos días no había pago por el trabajo de un hombre, o por el uso de una bestia, y no había paz para el que salía o el que entraba, debido a los enemigos; porque yo puse a todos los hombres unos contra otros.

Indeed, before those days, there was no pay for men, nor was there pay for beasts of burden, and neither was there peace for those entering, nor for those exiting, because of the tribulation. And I had dismissed all men, each one against his neighbor.

11 Pero ahora no seré para el remanente de este pueblo como lo era en el pasado, dice el Señor de los ejércitos.

But now, I will not act towards the remnant of this people according to the former days, says the Lord of hosts.

12 Porque la simiente de la paz quedará; la vid le dará fruto y la tierra le dará crecimiento y los cielos darán su rocío; y le daré al remanente de esta gente todas estas cosas por su herencia.

But there will be a seed of peace: the vine will give her fruit, and the earth will give her seedlings, and the heavens will give their dew. And I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things.

13 Y acontecerá que, como ustedes fueron una maldición entre las naciones, hijos de Judá e hijos de Israel, así les daré salvación y serán una bendición; no tengan miedo, mas esfuércense sus manos.

And this shall be: just as you were a curse among the Gentiles, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so will I save you, and you will be a blessing. Do not be afraid. Let your hands be strengthened.

14 Porque esto es lo que el Señor de los ejércitos ha dicho: Como mi propósito era hacerles mal cuando sus padres me hicieron enojar, dice el Señor de los ejércitos, y no me he arrepentido.

For thus says the Lord of hosts: Just as I intended to afflict you, when your fathers had provoked me to wrath, says the Lord,

15 Entonces, en estos días, mi propósito es hacer el bien a Jerusalén y a los hijos de Judá; no teman.

and I did not show mercy, so have I turned back, thinking in these days to do good to the house of Judah and to Jerusalem. Do not be afraid.

16 Estas son las cosas que debes hacer: Que cada hombre diga lo que es verdad a su prójimo; y sentencien juicio de verdad y paz en sus portales.

Therefore, these are the words that you shall do: Speak the truth, each one to his neighbor. With truth and a judgment of peace, judge at your gates.

17 Que nadie trame el mal en su corazón contra su prójimo; ni amén él juramento falso; porque todas estas cosas son odiadas por mí, dice el Señor.

And let not anyone think up evil against his friend in your hearts. And do not choose to swear falsely. For all these are things that I hate, says the Lord.

18 Y vino a mí la palabra del Señor de los ejércitos, diciendo:

And the word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying:

19 Esto es lo que ha dicho el Señor de los ejércitos: Los tiempos de ayuno del cuarto mes y en el quinto y el séptimo y el décimo mes, serán para la gente de Judá tiempos de alegría y reuniones felices; sean, pues, amantes de la verdad y de la paz.

Thus says the Lord of hosts: The fast of the fourth, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth will be for the house of Judah in joy and gladness and with bright solemnities. So then, love truth and peace.

20 Esto es lo que ha dicho el Señor de los ejércitos: Volverá a suceder cuando los pueblos y los que viven en grandes ciudades vengan,

Thus says the Lord of hosts, then the people may arrive and dwell in many cities,

21 Y la gente de un pueblo va a otro y dice: Vamos sin demora a implorar el favor del Señor, y para buscar al Señor de los ejércitos, yo también iré contigo.

and the inhabitants may hurry, one saying to another: “Let us go and entreat the face of the Lord, and let us seek the Lord of hosts. I will go also.”

22 Y vendrán grandes pueblos y naciones fuertes para adorar al Señor de los ejércitos en Jerusalén e implorar el favor del Señor.

And many peoples and strong nations will approach, seeking the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem, and to entreat the face of the Lord.

23 Esto es lo que ha dicho el Señor de los ejércitos: En aquellos días, diez hombres de todos los idiomas de las naciones extenderán sus manos y tomarán la falda del judío, diciendo: Iremos contigo, porque ha llegado a nuestros oídos que Dios está contigo.

Thus says the Lord of hosts: In those days, then, ten men from every language of the Gentiles will grasp and cling to the hem of one man of Judea, saying: “We will go with you. For we have heard that God is with you.”
